Abstract

Synthesis of methyl ester as biodiesel kesambi seed oil (schleichera oleosa l.) through esterification and transesterification has been successfully conducted. Kesambi seeds are one of the seeds that can produce essential oils, which is about 70%. The methods used in this study are esterification and transesterification. Characterization of methyl ester compound used H-NMR spectrometry The procedure was sample preparation, degumming, esterification, transesterification, and biodiesel quality test. The esterification process had been two steps using a methanol ratio of 20: 1. The biodiesel quality test results are not sufficient from the SNI 04-7182: 2006 standard, where the acid number is 0.718 Mg KOH / g, moisture content 0.32-0.51%, density 840 kg / m3 and viscosity 25.1 Mm2 / s.

Abstract

Tumbuhan Bidara (Ziziphus mauritiana) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit. Bidara  tumbuh didaerah yang kering dengan curah hujan yang sangat rendah. Di Indonesia, tumbuhan bidara banyak ditemukan didaerah Banten, Jawa, Madura, Bali, Sawu, Rote, Timur leste, Alor, Makasar, Bima, dan Sumba. Pada penelitian sebelumnya, ekstrak daun bidara diketahui memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi senyawa bioaktif dan menguji aktivitas antioksidan pada fraksi metanol daun bidara. Ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut metanol. Pemisahan dan pemurnian senyawa menggunakan metode kromatografi. Uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrihidrazin). Karakterisasi dan elusidasi struktur isolat yang mempunyai nilai % inhibisi tinggi dilakukan dengan menggunakan spektroskopi UV dan FTIR. Berdasarkan hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan fraksi 10 menghasilkan nilai % inhibisi yang tinggi yang dapat meredam radikal bebas. Hasil elusidasi struktur, senyawa yang diperoleh merupakan senyawa flavonoid.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to characterize the extent to which the discovery learning model can improve student learning outcomes in high school chemistry material and the impact of this model on classroom learning. This research employs a descriptive-qualitative literature study methodology, based on the publication of scientific journal articles. The findings of this research indicate that the discovery learning model, when applied in each cycle, will improve learning outcomes, thus indicating that this model may be a substitute for conventional chemistry teaching methods. However, this model also requires reflection, adjustment, and continuous improvement in the learning process

Abstract

Students' conceptual understanding of chemistry material is very important because good conceptual understanding can help to solve a problem, connect it with other relevant knowledge, and make it easier to study related material. This research aims to describe students' conceptual understanding of atomic structure and SPU material. This study employs a qualitative descriptive research method and approach. The research instrument is a multiple-choice test, with 25 questions divided into six indicators. We collected data through written tests. The data analysis process employs descriptive statistics, specifically using percentages. The research shows that students have a good understanding of all of the indicators. They understand that 42.59% of students in the sufficient category understand how electrons, protons, and neutrons relate to isotopes, isotones, and isobars. However, 33.70% of students in the poor category understand and can figure out the electron configuration. 19.16% of students in the very poor category can figure out the quantum number. 32.10% of students in the poor category can figure out periods and groups in SPU. And 32.10% of students in the less category have a good understanding of the periodicity of elements. The research results show that there is a need to improve the learning process, either through the application of learning models or the use of appropriate learning media, so that students' conceptual understanding can increase.

Abstract

Understanding concepts in chemistry subjects is crucial, as a lack of understanding can lead to misconceptions. This research aims to analyze existing research on understanding chemical concepts, thereby leveraging the opportunity to conduct further research on chemistry comprehension. This study employs a literature review method based on a variety of articles that discuss understanding concepts. The analysis of articles on conceptual understanding reveals that the years of article publication range from 2017 to 2024, with no journal publications in 2020. The quantitative method is the most commonly used research method, with class XI students making up the majority of the subjects. Acids and bases are a common chemistry topic in research, and the T test is the most common data analysis method. We've concluded that the majority of articles appeared in 2019 and 2021, quantitative research is the most prevalent type, and class XI students make up the majority of research subjects. The most frequently used data analysis in acid-base research is the T test.

Abstract

This research was conducted to explain the factors and factors of chemistry learning difficulties experienced by students in stoichiometry material. This type of qualitative phenomenological research was used in this research. The subjects of this research were 58 class X students of SMA Negeri I Manokwari. The strategy for collecting information in research is carried out using perceptions, meetings, surveys, and report studies. The examination of information from perceptions is completed illustratively, and the investigation of information from meetings and opinion polls is completed clearly and interpretively. The research results show that the causes of students' learning difficulties are caused by internal factors, including students' low numerical capacity, students' low understanding of interpreting material, students' low learning inspiration, and students' low insight. External factors include less conducive study time and less optimal use of the facilities provided by parents.

Abstract

This study evaluates the jigsaw learning model's efficacy for teaching chemistry. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was the research methodology employed in this study. Data is gathered by documenting every article relevant to the inquiry. Seventeen publications from national journals were used in this study. The research findings led to the conclusion that the jigsaw learning model's efficacy in chemistry education can be used as a response to student issues to improve learning activities, learning outcomes, student motivation, and student achievement—all of which will contribute to raising the standard of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penerapan konsep kimia hijau dan tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (Sustainable Development Goals) dalam pembelajaran kimia menjadi sangat penting untuk menghadapi tantangan global saat ini, seperti pemanasan global dan kerusakan lingkungan. Kajian literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi prinsip-prinsip kimia hijau yang dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum pendidikan, sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang dampak kimia terhadap keberlanjutan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah narrative literature review yang mengumpulkan dan menganalisis berbagai sumber literatur terkait penerapan kimia hijau dan SDGs dalam pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan dalam pembelajaran kimia tidak hanya mendorong praktik pendidikan yang inovatif dan interdisipliner, tetapi juga memungkinkan pendidik dan peserta didik untuk berkontribusi secara aktif dalam menciptakan solusi berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, pengembangan kurikulum yang relevan sangat diperlukan untuk memastikan generasi mendatang lebih sadar akan isu-isu keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan pada fase remaja menuju dewasa merupakan transisi yang menyebabkan begitu banyak perubahan hormonal, baik fisik, psikologis dan sosial. Pada perubahan ini akan menimbulkan suatu masalah kesehatan, salah satunya pada wajah yaitu Acne vulgaris (AV). Asam retinoat ini salah satu bahan kimia yang dilarang untuk digunakan karena dapat meyebabkan kulit kering, rasa terbakar, teratogenik (cacat janin) dan kanker kulit. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah krim jerawat yang beredar di Kota Batam mengandung Asam retinoat, dan untuk mengetahui kadar Asam retinoat pada sampel tersebut. Sampel krim jerawat yang diteliti berjumlah 10 sampel. Uji kualitatif asam retinoat menggunakan metode kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT) yang diamati di bawah sinar UV 354. dan Uji kuantitatif menggunakan metode Spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Penetapan kadar Asam retinoat secara Spektrofotometri pada panjang Gelombang nm. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan ada 3 sampel yang positif mengandung asam retinoat, yaitu Pada sampel 8,9 dan 10 masing-masing mengandung asam retinoate sebesar 0,1 %, 0,1 % dan 0,09 %.

Abstract

Tes diagnostik two tier multiple choice ialah pengujian diagnostik melalui angket pilihan ganda dilengkapi pilihan rasionalisasi. Tujuannya untuk menganalisa prosedur pengembangan angket diagnostik two tier multiple choice untuk mengidentifikasi kegagalan dalam memahami pada materi senyawa hidrokarbon serta untuk mengetahui kelayakan yang ditinjau mulai indikator kevalidan, reliabilitas, kepraktisan, serta keefektifan. Penelitian mengambil jenis R&D dengan memakai model 4D. Subjeknya ialah siswa siswi kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Tanah Miring berjumlah 10 siswa sebagai uji coba skala kecil dan 34 orang sebagai uji coba skala besar. Instrumen yang dipakai selama mengumpulkan data ialah angket, wawancara serta pengujian diagnostik two tier multiple choice yang sudah tervalidasi 2 validator. Hasilnya yaitu instrumen diagnostik two tier multiple choice meliputi kriteria valid, reliabel, praktis dan efektif. Hasil validasi intrumen ditemui persentase sejumlah 86% berkategori sangat valid. Hasil reliabilitas instrumen sebesar 0,941 pada tier 1 dan 0,952 di tier 2 berkategori sangat tinggi. Hasil uji kepraktisan instrumen pada 2 praktisi diperoleh nilai 96% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Keefektifan instrumen two tier multiple choice mengacu keberhasilan intrumen selama mendeteksi miskonsepsi didapatkan data sebesar 41% dengan kategori miskonsepsi sedang. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan instrumen two tier multiple choice untuk menganalisa miskonsepsi untuk materi senyawa hidrokarbon sudah mencapai dinyatakan valid, reliabel, praktis, serta efektif sehingga barang pantas dioptimalkan guna alat evaluasi proses belajar kimia.
