Abstract

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the learning difficulties experienced by students in class XI IPA at SMA Negeri 1 Nuhon in learning the physics topic of work and energy. The research method used was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of six students who were selected based on recommendations from the physics teacher. Data was collected through test questions and analyzed using the stages of the Polya method, namely understanding the problem, planning a solution, implementing the plan, and reviewing it. Additionally, interviews were conducted to support the research. The results showed that students faced difficulties mainly in aspect II (planning problem solving), as most students were unable to write a plan for solving problems, such as outlining the steps and the correct formulas. Difficulties also arose in aspect III (solving problems), where all students struggled to complete and accurately record the correct answers. However, they demonstrated an ability to understand and complete questions one and two well and provide correct answers. Regarding aspect IV (revisiting), students often neglected to double-check and review their work, which resulted in errors. In conclusion, it can be inferred that students experienced difficulties in aspects II, III, and IV.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an instrument to measure thinking styles and their impact on cognitive adaptation in the context of physics problem solving. Understanding how individuals approach and solve physics problems can provide valuable insights into cognitive processes and strategies used. The instrument consists of various tasks designed to depict different thinking styles commonly employed in physics problem solving. These thinking styles include concrete sequential (CS), abstract sequential (AS), concrete random (CR), and abstract random (AR) thinking styles. This research follows the Research and Development (R&D) model. The development model used is the non-test instrument development model. The instrument utilizes a forced-choice model by asking respondents to determine the order of statements that best align with their condition when solving physics problems. The instrument provides four options ranging from very inappropriate to very appropriate. A total of 683 first-year students at Universitas Tadulako participated in the pilot study, and 364 in the implementation study. The expert judgment data analysis technique used the Aiken's formula. Empirical data analysis was conducted using the Ques program to test goodness of fit to the Partial Credit Model (PCM), item validity, and instrument reliability. The content validity result showed an Aiken's V value of .81, and the test reliability was .90. The average infit MNSQ value was 1.00 with a standard deviation of .18. This study found that physics education students at Universitas Tadulako tend to have an abstract sequential (AS) thinking style. The implications of these findings can be utilized to measure students' thinking style tendencies when solving physics problems.

Abstract

This research is based on the behavior of students who are confused about explaining a natural phenomenon when taking electricity and magnetism courses. The covid-19 pandemic, which requires online courses, adds to the problems in improving the quality of learning in electricity and magnetism courses. As prospective teachers, physics education students with low concept mastery are certainly very concerned because they will teach it to their students. So this research aims to identify difficulties and recommendations for learning electricity and magnetism. The qualitative descriptive method is used to obtain a description of the problem, and obtain recommendations for effective and efficient learning. Learning is done online through zoom meetings and LMS.fkip.untad.ac.id. Data was collected by testing the mastery of the concept of electricity and magnetism. The test was given online to 40 students and interviews with 5 students as respondents. The results showed that the biggest difficulty of students in applying the concept of the potential vector was about 70%, analysis on the application of Ampere's law was about 47.5%, applying the concept of the field in a cylinder about 30%, and applying the Biot-Savart law was about 25%. It can be concluded that there are still many students who have difficulty mastering the concepts of electricity and magnetism after participating in online learning

Abstract

Contextual and local wisdom-based physics learning is essential to improve students' understanding and interest. This research connects abstract physics concepts with everyday life and local culture, making the material more relevant and increasing learning motivation. One example of application is the use of dudongean, a traditional clay jepa-making tool, to teach the concept of thermodynamics. This study measured the specific heat of dudongean, which was shown to have an average value of 552 J/kg°C, making it effective for cooking as it allows for even and stable heat distribution. The research method involved laboratory experiments with tools such as a digital balance, calorimeter and infrared thermometer. Results showed consistency in specific heat values, especially in the larger-mass samples, confirming the effectiveness of dudongean in cooking Japanese food. The results showed that the average specific heat of dudongean was 552 J/kg°C, with values ranging from 0.50 x 10³ J/kg°C to 0.59 x 10³ J/kg°C. This research also resulted in the development of a more interactive and contextualized Student Worksheet (LKS) for physics learning, which is expected to increase students' learning motivation, concept understanding, and critical thinking skills. This research confirms the importance of integrating local wisdom in science learning, improving the quality of physics education in Indonesia, and making a significant contribution to cultural preservation and technological innovation.

Abstract

This research addresses significant challenges in enhancing the quality and relevance of education in remote areas of Indonesia, particularly in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi. The primary issues identified include low student engagement in learning activities related to local culture and history, as well as a lack of innovative teaching methods that effectively integrate local wisdom with modern educational technologies. This study explores the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) as a solution to these challenges by developing and implementing AR-based educational media focused on the Megalithic Sites in Poso. The research employed an action research approach, involving a purposive sample of teachers from Poso who participated in a specially designed AR training program. The program included sessions on the relevance of AR to the "Kurikulum Merdeka," hands-on AR application using Assemblr Edu, and strategies for integrating AR into the classroom. The results demonstrate that AR significantly enhances teachers' readiness and confidence in adopting innovative teaching methods, contributing to increased student motivation and understanding of local cultural content. However, challenges such as limited technological infrastructure and the need for continuous teacher training were also identified. The study suggests that with adequate support and training, AR can be a powerful tool in improving educational outcomes in remote areas, fostering a deeper connection between students and their cultural heritage.
