Abstract

The purpose of this research was to measure the effectiveness of ‘SMART Fingers’ technique in improving students’ achievement of simple present. There were two classes of 7th graders of SMP Yadika 10, Tangerang, assigned as experimental and controlled groups, participating as the samples with totally 35 students in each class. The method of quantitative with quasi experimental research design applied in this study. The tools used to collect the data were pre-test and post-test. Quantitative and statistical analysis were taken to analyze the data. The quantitative calculation showed that after the treatment, 8 of the students in the experimental group fell into ‘excellent’ level, and none of the student in the controlled group was in this level. The statistical analysis of independent sample test revealed that the significant value of the experimental group (2-Tailed) < .001 < 0.05. This finding indicated that the experimental group reached different achievement after they were taught by using ‘SMART Fingers’ technique. Thus, referring to the analysis results above, this study concluded that ‘SMART Fingers’ technique was effective to improve students’ understanding of simple present tense.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to explore the effectiveness of scrabble game in students’ reading comprehension achievement. One class of 7th graders composing 27 students of MTs Jami’iyyah, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, participated In this as samples. This research applied quantitative method with pre-experimental design of one group pretest and posttest. The instruments used in collecting the data were pretest and posttest. There were 25 multiple choice questions given in each test to be done by the students in 50 minutes. A quantitative analysis was firstly taken before computing the data by using statistical analysis of paired sample t-test. The calculation showed that the average score of students’ reading comprehension post-test was higher (83.77) than in the pretest (56.22). Besides, the statistical analysis indicated that the significant value of 0.01 < a (0.05), thus, Ha was accepted. Referring to the analysis results above, this research concluded that scrabble game was effective media to be used in improving reading comprehension skill of the students. Abstract

This study shed light on proofing whether or not fantasy movie used as audio-visual media helped the students in improving their speaking achievement. This quantitative pre-experimental research involved 36 students of 8th grade of SMPN 24 South Tangerang as the samples. Both speaking pre- and post-tests were used as the instruments in collecting the data. The data were analyzed quantitatively In four steps; 1) assessing each student’s speaking performance based on the scoring rubric; 2) comparing students’ achievement in the pre-test and in the post-test; 3) presenting the comparison into percentages, and 4) determining the hypothesis. The analysis data showed that most students reached higher achievement in the post-test or after the treatment. In the percentages, 22.2% of the students fell in ‘excellent’ level in the post-test while in the pre-test none of the student was categorized in this criterion. Also, 44.4% of the students who sat in ‘bad’ level in the pre-test, decreased into 11.2% in the post-test. These results indicated that the students made good improvement in their speaking achievement after being taught by using fantasy movie. From those results, this study accepted Ha and rejected H0. To conclude, this research confirmed that fantasy movie used as audio-visual media helped the students in improving their speaking achievement.

Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate whether or not Marathon technique gave impact on students’ descriptive writing improvement. This research applied quantitative method with quasi-experimental research design. A total of 40 students of grade 9 of MTs Al-Islamiyah, Ciledug, participated as the samples in which 20 students were in the experimental class and the other 20 in controlled class. Both pretest and posttest were used as the instruments to collect the data. These data were analyzed statistically by using paired-sample t-test. The results of this statistical calculation showed that (t0) > than (tt) = 2.81 > 1.76 in the significance level of 5%. This explained that there was significant difference gained by groups of students taught with and without using Marathon technique. Therefore, this research concluded that Marathon technique affected students’ descriptive text writing achievement.

Abstract

Based on several research results, local wisdom values can help in raising awareness of cultural differences within a group, in this case at the Sidenreng Rappang Muhammadiyah University. The method used in this research was literature study and a random survey of students. The results of the research show that the values of sipakainge and sipakalebbi which are the principles of every student are able to make them aware of the meaning of multicultural differences that apply today

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the utilization of Lontara fonts and characters in the development of teaching materials and local culture-based learning media. It is expected to increase students' learning motivation by presenting learning materials in accordance with the trend of the times and current needs. The implementation of this teaching strategy involves the use of computers as an effective source of instruction and multimedia as a learning motivation tool that can accommodate modern learning styles. With this innovation, it is expected that the ability to use multimedia in the learning process will improve, which in turn will make students more enthusiastic in learning Bugis local content at the junior high school level. Overall, the main contribution of this research is to create relevant teaching strategies in learning, utilize computers as an effective source of instruction, utilize multimedia as a learning motivation tool, and increase students' enthusiasm in learning Bugis local content.

Abstract

In general, this research aims to boost reading comprehension study using a narrative approach to the creative process simulation models at class XI MIPA2 . Specifically this study aims to: Increasing the activity of a class XI MIPA 2 for student in the learning SMAN 28 Bone of narrative reading comprehension through the use of process simulation model creative approach. Improve student learning outcomes in teaching reading comprehension through the use of a narrative approach to the creative process simulation models at class XI MIPA2. Based on the analysis of the learning activities of students in reading comprehension in the first cycle, it was concluded that the achievement of the learning activities of students in reading comprehension through the use of process simulation model creative approach average Enough (65.23%). This is evident from the indicator appears, either at the stage of pre-reading, while reading and post-reading stage. Based on the results of the data analysis cycle I do reflection. Reflection on learning to read in understanding had done using a simulation model of the creative process approach. The data indicate that the activity of the teacher and the student learning process needs to be improved. This is consistent with the observation by observation format for teachers and students. Efforts is necessary to motivate teachers so that students are motivated to respond to the learning provided by the teacher. Based on the analysis of the learning activities of students in reading comprehension in the second cycle, it was concluded that the achievement of students in a learning activity descriptions based on the application essay writing process approach to simulation model of creative good average (75.40%). This is evident from the indicator that appears, either at the stage of pre-reading, while reading, and post-reading stage. Based on the results of the second cycle of data analysis done reflection. Reflection made ​​to pemebelajaran reading comprehension using process simulation model creative approach. Efforts are made teacher is need to improve on the current stage of learning reading and post-reading stage. The above data can be explained that the learning outcomes of students reading comprehension class average score 82.43 with 93.33% percentage of mastery learning. The percentages are in excellent qualifications. Data shows that 14 students scored Very Good, 14 students got good grades (good), and 2 students scored Include, the third cycle is no longer there students in categories of less or less once, thus there are only 2 people capable students under either category. Thus there are 2 people or 6.66% of students capable students under either category. Actual outcomes in the learning progress compared with the achievement of results at the previous meeting. Thus the success of data researchers in the learning process, according to the observations through format signs analysis of teaching and learning activities In the third cycle has shown an increase from the previous cycle. Based on the reflection is done, then the acquisition of the data will be displayed in the figure below, which shows the progress of student achievement in reading comprehension learning through the application of process simulation model creative approach on Indonesian subjects who started on pra-action, first cycle, second cycle, and the cycle III

Abstract

Results of research on the use of visual-Media to improve listening skills in student of class X AK.2 SMKN 3 Wajo, concluded that students' listening skills can be increased through the use of visual-Media learning. Listening skills of students in the first cycle in the category enough to average 68.71, and yet meet the expected learning completeness, then the second cycle increased to excellent category with an average of 83.87, and has met the expected learning completeness. Increasing listening skills through the use of visual-Media is supported by the increase in student learning activities, such as: active students prepare themselves in the content of chert listening to visual-Media, listen to the story in the visual-Media, noted the contents of the story, questioning related to the content of the story, and concluded the material content of the story on visual-Media.

Abstract

English is one of the compulsory subjects at school. In studying English with the theme "Traveling", some students in Class VIL.A of SMP Negeri 1 Bua, Luwu Regency, found it difficult and really needed suitable media because in this theme one of them was learning how to describe places, in this case tourist attractions. Therefore, to increase students' motivation in studying the theme "Traveling" very interesting media is needed, namely image media. So that the learning and teaching process can run smoothly and achieve maximum results. The purpose of this research is to find out: (1) whether the application of image media can increase motivation to learn English with the theme Traveling in students of Class VII.A of SMP Negeri 1 Bua, Luwu Regency, (2) how image media can be applied to increase motivation to learn language English with the theme "Traveling" for Class VII.A students of SMP Negeri 1 Bua, Luwu Regency. The subjects of this research were Class VII.A students in the odd semester of SMP Negeri 1 Bua, Luwu Regency, academic year 2018/2019. This research is limited to the theme 'Travelling. The research design used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The learning tools used are the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), and Student Activity Sheets. Meanwhile, the instrument used in this research was a test sheet on student learning outcomes.From the analysis of research data it can be concluded that: (1) The application of image media can increase motivation to learn English with the theme 'Traveling", readiness to learn, understanding and learning achievement of students in Class VIL.A SMP Negeri 1 Bua Luwu Regency, (2) Enthusiasm , enthusiasm, joy and creativity in the form of student activity during the teaching and learning process has increased, (3) Students' ability to express meaning and describe images has also increased, and (4) The results of assignments and daily tests have increased.

Abstract

This study aims to know whether concept mapping can improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraph at class X-1 TKJ of SMK Yohanes XXIII Maumere. This study was conducted in SMK Yohanes XXIII in the 1st semester of the school year 2016-2017. The population of this study was 32 students who are all examined. This research used classroom action research which conducted in two cycles. Each cycles consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The instruments used are observations checklist, reflection notes, pre-test, post-test and questionnaire. The technique of analyzing data is collected through administering pre-test, post-test and questionnaire. The result of the data analysis of pre-test score showed the mean figure of 47.96. The result of the data analysis of post-test score in cycle 1 (S2) showed the increasing mean figure of 67.37. The result of data analysis of post-test score obtained by the subjects under in cycle 2 (S4) pointed out the increasing mean figure of 80.90. Comparing the mean figure of pre-test score, the mean figure obtained by the subjects under study for each cycle was convincingly much higher than the mean figure of pre-test score. These findings clearly showed that concept mapping could improve the students’ ability in writing descriptive paragraph. The result of the data analysis of questionnaire score in pre-test showed the comparative percentages figures of option A: in 7.67%, option B: 24.04%, option C: 68.28%, option D: 0%. The result of the data analysis of questionnaire score in cycle 1 showed the comparative percentages figure of option A: 5.95%, option B: 64.82%, option C: 45.05%, option D: 0%. The result of the data analysis of questionnaire score in cycle 2 showed the comparative percentages figure of option A: 77.19%, option B: 22.45%, option C: 0,35%, option D: 0%. The result comparative percentages figure clearly showed the subjects attitude and motivation in learning descriptive paragraph writing changed positively. Based on this findings, it can be concluded that the application of the concept mapping technique can improve students’ writing ability in class X-1 TKJ of SMK Yohanes XXIII Maumere in 2016/2017 academic year.
