Abstract

Urbanization is a dominant force shaping ecological dynamics worldwide. As urban areas expand to accommodate growing populations and economic activities, natural landscapes are transformed, often at the cost of local biodiversity and the ecosystem services they support. This paper explores the multifaceted impacts of urbanization on biodiversity, focusing on habitat loss, fragmentation, pollution, and species displacement. It also evaluates the degradation of ecosystem services such as pollination, air and water purification, climate regulation, and cultural benefits. The study highlights case examples, proposes mitigation strategies including green urban planning and ecological restoration, and stresses the importance of balancing development with conservation for sustainable urban growth.

Abstract

Areca nut is a commodity with high economic value, where Areca nut is used in industry as a food and textile colouring. However, many farmers do not cultivate Areca nuts specifically; they only plant them as a plant on the fence of the house or agricultural land. In Simpang Jernih Village, areca nut is still processed traditionally so that it gets an inappropriate selling value. The post-harvest process is not productive and the sale of areca nut is still round. Therefore, a tool technology is needed that can be used to increase productivity, such as peeling areca nuts and cutting areca nuts into slices so that they can increase the selling price. This community service activity will be carried out in Simpang Jernih Village, Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh. The result of this workshop that the areca nut farmer more efficiently in post-harvest and the price of slice areca nut more expensive then before.

Abstract

Community Service Activities with the Environmental Village Development scheme were carried out in Lancang Garam Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City with the target of Baitul Maal Gampong. This organization is part of the gampong government which will improve the economy and welfare of Lancang Garam residents if the management of ziswaf funds (zakat, infaq, alms and waqf) is good. Apart from that, the current condition of Baitul Maal is faced with many problems, such as the problem of lack of public trust, as a result of an ineffective work ethic, and disharmony within the Baitul Maal institutional unit itself. Baitul Maal Gampong Lancang Garam's openness for future development is very good, they really hope for assistance. However, the aim of community service with the Environmental Village Development scheme is to provide understanding and help the community by maximizing assistance in this service. The PKM Team uses the PAR (Participation Action Research) method as a method and approach in this service. Where the three pillars of PAR such as research methodology, action dimensions and participation dimensions are very relevant to use. After providing assistance through this method, the Unimal PKM Team hopes that the structural and non-structural Baitul Maal gampong bodies in Lhokseumawe City will be able to understand and implement it. As a result, professional constructivity will be realized in Baitul Maal Gampong Lancang Garam. The activity implementation method consists of three stages. The first preparation stage includes pre-survey, team formation, making and submitting proposals, coordinating teams and partners as well as preparing training tools and materials. The second stage is the implementation of the program in the form of providing an understanding of the coaching and training program with work aspects, increasing employee understanding of the management of Baitul Maal gampong as well as digital-based training related to muamalah fiqh improvisation, and this implementation is carried out through counseling (presentation of material) and discussions. The third stage is the evaluation and reporting stage. Evaluation is carried out by comparing the conditions of partners before and after the implementation of mentoring and coaching in the form of all the time discussions. comparing the conditions of partners before and after implementing mentoring and coaching in the form of all the time discussions.

Abstract

Counseling on the practice of fardu kifayah is an important part of efforts to improve the understanding and skills of the Muslim community in carrying out collective obligations, especially in terms of managing corpses. This activity was carried out at the Al-Sahabah Mosque, Griya Padat Karya Housing, with the aim of providing theoretical knowledge and direct practice regarding the procedures for fardu kifayah, which include bathing, shrouding, praying, and burying the corpse according to Islamic law. The methods used in this counseling include lectures, questions and answers, and direct demonstrations of practice by competent speakers in their fields. This activity was attended by local residents with enthusiasm and resulted in an increase in the understanding and skills of participants, who previously did not know much about or understand the practice of fardu kifayah as a whole. With this counseling, it is hoped that the community will be better prepared and able to carry out the obligations of fardu kifayah independently and correctly. This activity is also a means of strengthening Islamic brotherhood and increasing social awareness in community life. Overall, this counseling has had a significant positive impact on the community around the Al-Sahabah Mosque.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of sustainable agriculture in Nagari Batu Bajanjang, focusing on efforts to maintain biodiversity and increase crop productivity. Nagari Batu Bajanjang has great potential in agricultural development. This study analyzes the transformation from a conventional agricultural system that still relies on monoculture practices and the use of chemicals, to a sustainable agricultural system. The implementation of sustainable agriculture is carried out through several main strategies, including crop diversification, the application of an agroforestry system, the use of organic fertilizers, and the development of a modern irrigation system. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of sustainable agriculture has a positive impact in three main aspects: increasing biodiversity, improving long-term land productivity, and increasing farmer income. The success of this implementation requires active collaboration between local governments, research institutions, and local farmer communities.
