Abstract

This study evaluates the economic welfare of respondents in the Medan Tembung region with a focus on poverty levels and their implications for the economic conditions. The research analyzes factors such as the number of dependents, monthly income, access to basic services, and market conditions to understand their impact. The findings indicate that the number of dependents and monthly income significantly affect respondents' financial stability, with those having higher dependents and lower income experiencing greater economic pressure. The balance between income and expenditure is also a concern, with many respondents facing financial deficits. Access to basic services such as health insurance (BPJS) and education plays a crucial role in maintaining financial stability, although some respondents still lack full access to these services. Market instability, especially rising prices of essential goods, directly impacts respondents' economic conditions. Protecting price stability is key to safeguarding community welfare. Appropriate policy measures are needed to enhance economic welfare in Medan Tembung, including the development of financial education programs and price stabilization policies. This research provides a deep understanding of the economic challenges faced by respondents in this area and highlights the need for effective policy interventions to improve welfare and reduce economic disparities.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and understand the method of teaching the meaning of sharing to students at the Miftahul Jannah Orphanage during the month of Ramadan. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of sharing activities carried out by students and caregivers. The results of the study showed that the direct experience approach through sharing practice activities was more effective in fostering empathy, sincerity, and social sensitivity. However, there are still obstacles in understanding the meaning of sharing and limited resources. With religious guidance and role models from caregivers, sharing activities can shape the social and spiritual character of students. This study concludes that teaching sharing that is carried out directly, supported by religious practice and guidance, is effective in shaping the social and spiritual character of students, so that this model can be used as a reference for developing similar programs.

Abstract

One of Of the three main pillars (Tri Dharma) that must be implemented by lecturers in higher education, in addition to education and teaching as well as research and development, community service is an activity carried out by lecturers in collaboration with MSMEs in the Sibolaga district of Sibolga city. The free SI HALAL program from the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) is a great opportunity for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain halal certificates at no cost. However, the lack of information and understanding of this certification process is a major obstacle among MSMEs, especially chili chip MSMEs in the South Sibolga District of Sibolga City. This community service activity aims to socialize the importance of halal certification and provide technical understanding in utilizing the free SI HALAL program. The method used is a participatory approach through counseling, interactive discussions, and technical assistance. The results show an increase in understanding and motivation of MSMEs to register their products in the halal certification system. This activity is expected to be the beginning of increasing the competitiveness and business desires of local MSMEs based on halal principles.

Abstract

Kamasan Village, Bandung Regency, was known as a flood-prone area from 2012 to 2020. Although flood mitigation efforts have successfully reduced flooding since early 2020, household waste management, particularly organic waste, remains a major challenge. This study examines the implementation of biopore infiltration wells with a diameter of 11 cm and a depth of 1 meter that utilize media from processed organic waste as a filtration layer. This system not only aims to increase the rate of water infiltration and reduce runoff but also utilizes household organic waste as an integrated solution. In addition, this study also examines the impact of infiltration well implementation on community awareness of organic waste management. Initial observations indicate that the use of organic waste media has been shown to increase soil absorption capacity without producing leachate. This model has the potential to be an effective local solution for groundwater conservation and sustainable waste management, while simultaneously increasing active community participation.

Abstract

In the digital era that continues to advance, the use of information technology has become an inseparable part of everyday life, including in the field of education. However, this development also presents a number of challenges, especially for the younger generation who are still in the process of growing and searching for their identity. Many students do not fully understand the importance of ethics in the digital world, security in cyberspace, and how to use the internet wisely and positively. This activity is designed in the form of interactive socialization, short training, and discussion and question and answer sessions that involve the active participation of students. The material provided includes an introduction to the digital world, the threat of cybercrime such as online bullying, online fraud, and the spread of hoaxes, how to maintain the security of personal data, and the application of ethics in using the internet. In addition, students are also encouraged to recognize the potential of the digital world as a means of learning, channeling creativity, and developing themselves. Through a communicative and fun approach, this activity aims to encourage students to be wiser in using digital devices and social media. Participants will also be equipped with the ability to become digital literacy agents in their respective environments. This community service activity is in line with the national character building and digital literacy program, and supports the school's vision in forming a generation that is able to adapt to the development of the times without abandoning strong moral and social values. With the presence of technology, several suggestions can be put forward, one of which is the importance of early digital literacy development. Junior high school students are at an age that is vulnerable to the negative impacts of the digital world. Therefore, there needs to be routine digital literacy training and education in schools, so that students can understand both the benefits and risks of using technology. In addition, collaboration between schools and universities is also needed. Community service activities like this emphasize the importance of synergy between higher education institutions and schools in forming a generation that is literate and skilled in the digital world.

Abstract

Kali Biru, located in Banabungi Village, Pasarwajo District, Buton Regency, is one of the popular tourist destinations for domestic tourists, offering natural beauty that remains original and beautiful, as well as high accessibility. Although awareness of the importance of maintaining river cleanliness has increased, suboptimal waste management practices remain a significant challenge. This is due to the lack of intensive education on the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness, especially rivers, as a tourism asset that has great potential in encouraging the economic growth of local communities. Clean-up and education actions about the importance of environmental cleanliness in the Kali Biru area were carried out using direct education methods, distribution of cleaning tools, and environmental cleaning in order to increase public and tourist awareness of the cleanliness of the river environment. The results of the evaluation show that the implementation of education and community empowerment programs in the Kali Biru tourist area is effective in increasing public understanding and affection for the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and preservation of the river environment as a tourist destination. This is expected to encourage sustainable economic growth through the development of responsible tourism.
