Abstract

This study discusses the heat transfer on the combustion chamber walls by simulation using Ansys software. The main purpose of doing this simulation is to find out the magnitude of the temperature in each layer of objects that cannot be measured with a measuring instrument. analysis in Steady-state Thermal conditions using the highest working temperature parameter. 3-dimensional combustion chamber geometry conditions with a 2-meter combustion chamber wall height. This study focuses on one side of the combustion chamber wall for analysis. The results provide the same understanding as the other side of the wall. Based on the calculation, the total heat transfer is obtained 919,09W. Theoretical/experimental temperature distribution analysis and numerical simulations produce small comparison values ​​(percentage error below 10%). Simulated heat energy flow rate (Heat Flux) 1680,7W/m2 and the theoretical yield is equal to 1372,18W/m2. Future research is expected to analyze air flow and combustion under transient thermal conditions to determine the effect of time and temperature on the temperature distribution in the combustion chamber.

Abstract

PT Manhattan is one of the companies engaged in services that provide apartments, supermarkets, cinemas, and food. This research was conducted in a logistics warehouse, where the problem is the problem of time when storing products in the warehouse. Value Stream Mapping is a design method to reduce the time problem so that it gets the best design. The results of the calculation using the Value stream mapping method to get an efficient improvement design from the actual condition. Then 2 activities are part of the value stream mapping and these two activities are included in the category of non-value-added activities. While operational activities include value-added activities, the total time required for value-added activities is 9,660 seconds, while the time required for non-value activities is 5,100 seconds. So the activity mapping process required for value-added activity is 618,890 seconds while the time required for non-value-added activity is 30,520 seconds from the initial condition. With this research, it is expected that logistic warehouses can arrange and use time as quickly and efficiently as possible so that they can facilitate warehouse activities.

Abstract

Coconut husk, currently processed into coco fibre and cocopeat is the highest percentage of coconut fruit waste. A coconut husk chopping machine is a machine that can chop coconut husk so that it can then be utilized as a planting medium. Pulley has a function to receive power transmitted from the drive engine to the blade shaft. Pulley diameter variations are carried out to determine the data on the pulley rotation, chopping time, and fuel consumption results. This study used a pulley with a diameter of 3 inches (76mm), 5 inches (127mm), dan 7 inches (178mm). The most optimal rotation is on the 3-inch diameter pulley with 3600 Rpm; the fastest chopping time is on the 3-inch pulley with a duration of 748 seconds; the pulley with the most chopped results is on a 3-inch pulley, which is 1.780 kg. And pulley with the least unshredded results is a 3-inch diameter pulley of 0.220 kg.

Abstract

Egg incubators are devices designed to create optimal conditions for eggs to hatch into chicks. Several important factors that must be considered in the egg incubator include temperature, humidity and air flow rate in the egg incubator chamber. Simulation of heat propagation and airflow rate in the hatchery was carried out using CFD software. The simulation results of heat propagation with a heating source above the egg rack obtained a maximum temperature of 312oK or the equivalent of 38.85o C which is right below the heater while the lowest temperature is 311°K or the equivalent of 37.85°C which is in the corner of the hatchery. The simulation results of the air flow rate with an air flow velocity of 1m/s obtained that the egg incubator with a heating source above the egg rack has an air flow rate in the hatchery space that is evenly distributed throughout the room so that the air can reach all the eggs in the hatchery room with a level hatching success of 80.5%.

Abstract

Occupational Safety is the protection of work security experienced by workers both physically and mentally in the work environment. The production process in the boiler division has a very large potential for danger, so it is very important to improve training in the field of work safety. Several things that have potential hazards include the use of incomplete PPE, safety equipment, operation and maintenance, and operator negligence. This study identified the hazards in each activity at PT XYZ. The research findings cover 9 work activities and 14 potential hazards. Scraping activity in the boiler kitchen has the highest work accident rate, which is 34.89% and the operation of the control panel does not cause accidents, with an accident percentage of 0%. The average level of low risk is 10 and medium is 3. However, the PT XYZ has not fully implemented the complete use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the Boiler Station.

Abstract

Palm Oil Mill (POM) is a plantation company that specializes in palm oil commodities with outputs in the form of CPO (Crude Palm Oil) and PK (Palm Kernel). 12 processing stations at XYZ POM have high levels of noise, one of which is the sterilizer station which can cause hearing impairment to operators. This study aims to determine the level of noise at the sterilizer station, diagnose hearing impairment due to noise based on audiometry results, and assess the effectiveness of the implementation of the occupational health and safety management system at XYZ POM. The research method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive method using primary and secondary data. From the results of this study, it was found that the calculation of the noise level for 24 hours reached 94.9 dB. This value exceeds the threshold value for noise based on the Regulation of the Minister of Labor and Transmigration No. PER.13/MEN/X/2011 regarding the Threshold Value of Physical and Chemical Factors in the Workplace. To improve the safety and health of employees, XYZ POM implements an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) using the HIRARC (Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Risk Control) method to identify potential hazards, assess risks and control them, one of which is noise by conducting regular audiometry examinations. The results of the audiometry examination on the sterilizer operator showed normal results. The implementation of the OHSMS at XYZ POM is effective, especially in controlling noise by Government Regulation No. 5 of 2012 regarding the Implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) Reihan Convection is a home industry company manufacturing bags. This company is still experiencing problems in increasing bag sales. This research aims to formulate a business development strategy so that companies can consider it to increase bag sales. This study uses the SWOT and QSPM methods. The SWOT method is used to determine strategy, while the QSPM method is used to specify alternative techniques used by the company at this time. The research results were obtained for SO strategy focused on product development, ST concentrating on maintaining and improving product and workforce quality, WO establishing solid partnerships with related parties, and WT concentrating on practical and targeted promotions. The alternative strategies obtained are Product Development (TAS = 6.350), Integration strategy (TAS = 6.290), and Intensive strategy (TAS = 5.761).

Abstract

This research is a prelimenary study of unmanned aerial vehicle design process. The study is conducted to understand the effect of wing shape on pressure of  the  wing  surface and to analyse air flow model on the wing surface and surround it that is crucial for the next design step.  Finite element method has been performed with the aid of computer. Computational fluid dynamics was carried out by using Freecad 0.21 software comes with powerful  OpenFOAM® Computational Fluid Dynamics workbench. Straight, tapered and tapered-bend wing shape were simulated with 1000 mm in length and constructed according to NACA 6412 profile. Straight wing had mean chord length of 100 mm while tapered wings were 80-120 mm. Furthermore, 20 m/s of wing speed was involved in simulation with angle of attack of 2 degree. Modeling results were robustly managed by means of Paraview 5.5.2 software. Results revealed that maximum surface pressure was formed on leading edge with 190 Pascals on straight wing and 210 Pascals on tapered-bend wing. Laminar air flow along wing profile was discovered without any vortex shedding occurred after passing the trail edge surface. Finally, simulation results discovered that there is a pressure difference on the top and bottom part of the wing. As the result, lifting force was created as expected.

Abstract

Business disciplines, which include production, sales, supply of goods, and services, are the main factors in doing business, especially for customers. If a company creates various things that can be handled and can be seen in a tangible form, then these services do not have a form but can be felt by customers. This should not be underestimated by business people, especially if the company is engaged in the service sector. In a service-providing manufacturing business, quality is one of the various elements that must be considered, if the business has a competitive nature against competitors. Quality is considered crucial because it proves the product being sold, not only by assessing the use or service but also by the suitability between buyers and users in utilizing the goods or services provided and selected. If the products and services offered have quality, the level of consumer desire is increasing, this is called the provision of good service quality. This research is quantitative research using Servqual and QFD methods, this research was conducted by the author at the West Store Medan Shoe Store, to know and analyze the level of customer satisfaction with the quality of service and goods in the West Store Medan store. In this study, the researcher describes each method, the goal is that the validity of the data generated is not in doubt. This study shows that there is still a lack of service at the West Store Medan Shoe Store, including the lack of responsiveness of store employees in responding to buyers, being less responsible when serving, parking and cleanliness are still lacking, to the lack of complete facilities.

Abstract

This research aims to measure the temperature around the burner of a single and two-burner SNI gas stove experimentally. The method involves installing temperature sensors at various points around the burner to measure the temperature distribution during stove operation. Testing one stove with the maximum gas stove setting shows that the temperature of the flame (Tf), inner wall (Ti), and outer wall (To) has an average value of 515.7426°C, 159.4874°C, and 123 respectively. .9852°C. With the minimum gas stove setting, the average values ​​of Tf, Ti, and To are 412.9672°C, 101.7448°C, and 64.1360°C. For testing two stoves with the maximum gas stove setting, the average values ​​of Tf, Ti, and To were 666.9459°C, 146.0443°C, and 81.8967°C respectively, while for the minimum gas stove setting, The average values ​​of Tf, Ti, and To are 596.623°C, 94.6196°C, and 60.9590°C. The results of this measurement indicate that the heat lost to the environment through radiation is still significant, as can be seen from the high temperatures measured on the inner and outer walls of the plate around the burner. These findings are important for improving the design of gas stoves to increase energy efficiency and reduce heat lost to the environment.
