Abstract

Until now, many genetically engineered products have met our basic needs and provided various economic, environmental, and health benefits. However, there are still many who doubt or even oppose them. This raises the question of how the public's knowledge and understanding of these biotechnological plants stand. Consequently, this condition will affect the varied attitudes of society. Thus, this research aims to analyze whether public actions in adopting biotechnology are significantly influenced by their knowledge and perceptions. This survey uses a questionnaire and was conducted with 535 respondents from several provinces. The results show that around 70% of respondents have limited knowledge about biotechnology. The information channels they use include print media, social media, and interpersonal communication. About 75% of respondents agree or strongly agree that biotechnology can enhance agricultural productivity, the economy, and farmers' welfare, and contribute to food security. Furthermore, 76% of respondents agree to purchase these products. Despite the above findings, the lack of information regarding genetically engineered plants has led a majority of Indonesians to feel "neutral" about the risks they perceive regarding health and the environment. PLS-SEM analysis reveals a strong positive relationship between knowledge, perceptions, and positive attitudes toward biotechnology products. Therefore, factors such as enhancing information dissemination through various alternative media and involving stakeholders need to be intensified for the future development of biotechnology

Abstract

The phenomenon of divorce and remarriage among Christians raises theological, sociological, and psychological questions regarding a person's suitability to serve in church offices, particularly pastoral offices. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature study, examining key biblical texts such as Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:11–12, and Romans 7:2–3, as well as theological literature, family sociology, and pastoral psychology [. Biblically, most texts affirm permanent monogamous fidelity, while arguments for remarriage emphasize grace, restoration, and the cultural context of Jesus' time. From a sociological and psychological perspective, divorce and remarriage impact emotional stability, family relationships, and the quality of church ministry. The study's conclusion emphasizes that the church needs to uphold the truth of God's word normatively, while providing a path of restoration for those who sincerely repent.

Abstract

Following Constitutional Court Decision No. 35/PUU-X/2012, the status of Customary Forests shifted from state forests to forests owned by indigenous people (Masyarakat Hukum Adat). This significant transformation in forest governance has triggered a surge in proposals to designate Customary Forests, which interestingly now extend to Other Land Use Areas (Areal Penggunaan Lain/APL), or non-forest plantation lands. Although legally permissible, the phenomenon of proposing Customary Forests on APL is unique in that indigenous people continue to propose them in areas they have owned since their inception. Therefore, this study analyzes why indigenous leaders propose the Customary Forest designation on APL in Jangkat District, Merangin Regency, Jambi.  The theory used in this study is Weber’s instrumental rational action. This research employs a qualitative approach using data collection techniques such as literature study, in-depth interviews and FGDs with indigenous leaders and village officials. The results indicate that the primary rationality underlying the proposal is instrumental. Specifically, customary leaders are seeking formal recognition to access government support and assistance in protecting vital water sources that sustain community livelihoods and strengthen the certainty and security of customary communities' rights.

Abstract

This study examines the persistent gap between centrally mandated sustainability policies and their implementation in smallholder oil palm plantations in Indonesia, with a focus on the role of regional bureaucracies. It aims to analyze how local bureaucratic actors bridge the disconnect between policy design and on-the-ground realities, particularly in the context of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) standards and related programs. Grounded in the Street-Level Bureaucracy framework, this research adopts a qualitative case study approach in West Aceh Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with smallholder farmers, field officers, and government officials, supported by participant observation and document analysis, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that field-level bureaucrats function as active policy actors who interpret, adapt, and operationalize central regulations through discretionary practices, improvisation, and context-sensitive strategies. These adaptive mechanisms—such as simplifying procedures, prioritizing services, and engaging in social negotiation—are crucial in aligning formal policy requirements with local socio-economic conditions. However, implementation is significantly constrained by structural limitations, including inadequate human resources, limited infrastructure, insufficient funding, and socio-political pressures such as elite intervention and high central performance targets. The study concludes that the effectiveness of smallholder oil palm governance is highly dependent on the adaptive capacity of regional bureaucracies. Strengthening institutional flexibility, bureaucratic capacity, and multi-level coordination is essential to enhance policy outcomes. This research contributes to the literature by demonstrating how bureaucratic discretion, structural constraints, and local political dynamics interact in shaping policy implementation, offering both theoretical and practical insights for more inclusive and sustainable agricultural governance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of implementing the General Election Commission Regulation Number 19 of 2019 in the 2020 Simultaneous Elections in Sigi Regency. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Qualitative research is a study where a researcher is placed as a key instrument in a study, data collection is carried out by combining and analyzing inductive data. The results of the study indicate that only the resource aspect is running well, this is due to the availability of qualified human resources, the availability of budget and the availability of supporting facilities and infrastructure in the process of implementing KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2019. However, in the communication aspect, the disposition and bureaucratic structure have not run according to expectations. In the communication aspect, it shows that the consistency dimension has not been fulfilled due to conflicting regulations between the Sigi Regency KPU and the Sigi Regency Population and Civil Registration Office regarding the requirements for voters. In terms of disposition, there is a visible commitment, but at the same time, its implementation is hampered by regulations related to population administration and errors in the DP4 data used as a basis for updating voter data. Meanwhile, in terms of bureaucratic structure, it has not run well due to differences in procedures or SOPs between the Sigi Regency KPU and the Sigi Regency Population and Civil Registration Office which are based on conflicting regulations that serve as the basis for them to carry out their duties, and is exacerbated by the DP4 from the Indonesian KPU which does not correspond to the facts on the ground. The reasons for the poor implementation of General Elections Commission Regulation Number 19 of 2019 were several issues, such as conflicting reference regulations between the Sigi Regency General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Sigi Regency Population and Civil Registration Office, the absence of a single standard operating procedure (SOP) that must serve as an absolute reference for data updating and the preparation of the final voter list (DPT), and the lack of public participation in ensuring the success of the 2020 simultaneous regional elections

Abstract

Leadership in the Christian context is often confronted with two seemingly contradictory concepts: authority and humility. This study aims to analyze the concept of servant leadership exemplified by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of John, focusing on how spiritual authority is manifested through service, sacrifice, and humility. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth literature review, this study explores Jesus' concept of leadership from the perspective of the Gospel of John and its relationship to the spirituality of service. The results show that true spiritual authority cannot be separated from humility and sincere service. It was found that self-denial opens space for the work of the Holy Spirit, which enables one to lead according to God's will. The study's conclusion emphasizes that leadership authority lies not in power or a particular position, but in total submission to God's will through self-denial and the example of Christ. This study provides practical implications for the development of servant leadership in the context of contemporary Christianity

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theological relationship between powerful prayer and the practice of cross-bearing and self-denial in the Christian life. Through a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth literature study, this study explores the concept of prayer from a biblical perspective and its relationship to the spirituality of the cross. The results of the study indicate that effective and powerful prayer cannot be separated from obedience in carrying the cross and daily self-denial. It was found that self-denial opens space for the work of the Holy Spirit who enables one to pray according to God's will. The conclusion of the study emphasizes that the power of prayer does not lie in a particular technique or formula, but in total surrender to God's will through self-denial and obedience in carrying the cross. This study provides practical implications for the development of a transformative prayer life in the context of contemporary Christianity

Abstract

Disadvantaged regions continue to face challenges in educational development, particularly program fragmentation, limited facilities and infrastructure, geographical barriers, and weak inter-institutional coordination caused by sectoral ego. Drawing on the perspectives of collaborative governance and governance network theory, this study aims to analyze how multi-stakeholder synergy drives education transformation in a disadvantaged region. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that multi-stakeholder synergy functions as a cross-sectoral coordination mechanism that integrates the local government, regional apparatus organizations, nagari governments, companies, customary institutions, schools, and the community into a programmed, integrated, and coordinated education transformation agenda. This mechanism operates through vision alignment, strengthened communication, trust-building, facilitative regional leadership, and a clear division of roles in mobilizing financial, material, social, and logistical resources. This synergy contributes to transformative shifts in community mindsets toward education, expanded access for school dropouts, strengthened non-formal education, improved school infrastructure, expanded internet access in blind-spot areas, and the development of road access to remote schools through cross-sectoral self-managed initiatives. The study concludes that the effectiveness of education transformation in disadvantaged regions increases when local governments act as coordinators of collaborative networks and optimize the functions of existing local institutions without establishing new ones. The novelty of this study lies in the formulation of a locally grounded multi-stakeholder synergy model for educational transformation in disadvantaged regions, which demonstrates that collective action capacity can be built not through institutional expansion, but through the integration of formal institutions, customary structures, community participation, and local values of togetherness within an existing governance network.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of literacy on student spirituality moderated by the mosque library using a quality analysis approach and a quantitative moderation model. The novelty of this study lies in its attempt to integrate the dimensions of academic literacy, library quality, and spirituality into a single empirical framework that has not been widely explored before. This study also seeks to emphasize that the campus mosque library is not only a center of Islamic information, but also an instrument for forming an academic culture rooted in spiritual values. This study uses a quantitative approach with a moderated explanatory design. The main objective of this design is to examine the influence of literacy on student spirituality with the campus mosque library as a moderating variable. This approach was chosen because it is able to explain the causal relationship between variables empirically and assess the extent to which the strength of moderation influences the direction and intensity of the relationship. The results of the study indicate that student literacy has a positive and significant influence on spirituality where students with high levels of information, academic, and religious literacy show better spiritual awareness, both in the context of self-reflection and in academic and social behavior, then the quality of the campus mosque library directly influences the level of student spirituality. This shows that the mosque library functions not only as a literacy center, but also as a spiritual space that forms a balance between reason and heart, then student literacy directly influences the level of student spirituality and the campus mosque library acts as a positive moderating variable. In terms of quality, these results indicate that the dimensions of empathy and assurance are the main strengths of the mosque library, while responsiveness still needs to be improved, especially in digital services and operating hours. The conclusion is that student literacy and the campus mosque library influence student spirituality, and the campus mosque library is able to moderate the influence between student literacy on student spirituality in UI, Unpad, ITB, UIN and UPI Bandung Mosques and in terms of SEVQUAL quality in the good category.
