Abstract

Orchestral music performances generally rely on original sound without the aid of loudspeakers, so it is very important to pay attention to the acoustics of the performance space. The interior design of a performance space, especially for orchestral music, must have good acoustics so that the sound quality produced is optimal and can be enjoyed by the audience. However, performance halls often experience acoustic defects that impact the quality of musical performances. To overcome this, careful acoustic planning is needed so that the performer can convey the music optimally and the audience can enjoy every note clearly. In addition, performance halls must comply with government standards in providing safe and comfortable facilities for users, so that the viewing experience is better. Abstract

: In Indonesia, Christians as a minority group face limitations in developing church buildings. This has prompted the Christian community in urban Indonesia to develop a special typology that combines churches with malls or shophouses. Crane (2021) suggests that churches of this type have the potential to become multi-purpose spaces, such as, Businesses on Mondays to Fridays, small groups in the evenings, worshiping God on weekends. The diverse utilization of space based on function becomes important to discuss for the sustainability of the church as a community center. In addition to its spatial function, the church must also be able to give meaning and identity to its space. As Widyakusuma (n.d.) states, "Users define and give meaning to space, space also defines and gives meaning to users." The results of surveys and interviews showed several problems with JB3 Church Home For All, such as, circulation, acoustics, layout. Moreover, considering the new typology of church-mall/shophouses mentioned by Crane (2021), churches of this type experience confusion in defining their sacredness as the identity of a church building. Based on the problems mentioned above, a new design is needed for JB3 Church Home For All. Keywords: church, interior, religious, sacred, shophouses

Abstract

Cancer is the 2nd deadly disease in the world where in Indonesia there are 877,531 cases and there are around 209,236 children diagnosed with cancer in 2023. This happens because more than 50% of cancer cases in children come to health facilities in an advanced stage, due to the factor that the majority of pediatric cancer hospitals are in big cities like Jakarta, so it requires a large amount of money for treatment. A halfway house is a facility specitically designed to create a comfortable and safe place to stay, providing emotional, social, spiritual support to children and caregivers of patients who are undergoing cancer treatment outside the city without any costs that need to be incurred by the family. Patients and families who have a diagnosis of a disease with minimal cure rates have a sense of low fighting spirit, so palliative care was formed with the aim of improving the quality of life of patients and families in dealing with problems related to life-threatening diseases which are generally aimed at patients with high mortality rates, one of which is cancer. Creating an optimistic interior atmosphere for recovery is one of the things that can be done by applying palliative principles in an interior, by providing a sense of comfort, calm, not passive, and by applying natural elements in it. Keyword : interior design, shelter, palliative
