Abstract

With the advancement of technology and information, librarians play a crucial role as guardians of knowledge and information. Librarians need to enhance their skills in order to assist users in fulfilling their knowledge and information needs. This article aims to explore the representation of librarians in the film Doctor Strange, which reflects the reality of contemporary librarianship. The analysis in this study employs Roland Barthes' model of semiotics and the theory of representation to uncover both the denotative and connotative meanings of the librarian character. The findings reveal that Wong is portrayed as a skilled, trustworthy, and highly responsible librarian in managing and safeguarding knowledge and information. The role of the librarian is shown to be complex—not limited to administrative tasks, but extending further as a gatekeeper of information and knowledge.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of research on library marketing strategies from 2004 to 2024 using a bibliometric approach. A quantitative descriptive bibliometric method was employed, with data retrieved from the Scopus database using the keywords "marketing strategy" and "library", resulting in a total of 250 documents. The data were analyzed and visualized using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. The findings reveal significant fluctuations in publication trends over the past two decades, with notable peaks in 2013 and 2019, and sharp declines in 2020 and 2024. The average citations per year have shown an upward trend since 2022, reaching a peak of 2.2 in 2024. Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies emerged as the most prolific journal, publishing 102 documents. Quoquab F was identified as the most productive author, with five publications and a fractionalized score of 1.67. The most influential publication, with 55 citations, was authored by Gül Bayraktaro?lu and Özge Özgen, titled “Integrating the Kano model, AHP and planning matrix: QFD application in library services.” Keyword analysis revealed frequent use of terms such as “marketing,” “library marketing,” “strategic marketing,” and “digital marketing,” reflecting the central focus of the research landscape. Institutionally and geographically, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia led in publication output with 14 articles, while the United States and India were identified as the most significant contributing countries. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to help library users search for information more quickly, accurately, and contextually, and to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concepts and architecture of institutional repositories that use the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) method. This research adopts a Design Science Research (DSR) approach to address challenges in information retrieval arising from advances in artificial intelligence. The artifact developed is an artificial intelligence-based institutional repository system using the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) method. The research results regarding the implementation of building an institutional repository with the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach include the stages of identifying conventional repository issues from the past to the present, designing or conceptualizing an RAG-based system, the workflow of implementing RAG technology in institutional repositories, analysis of advantages, and implications for the academic environment. This study concludes that applying RAG to institutional repositories not only increases the efficiency of information search but also enriches the user experience in finding relevant, contextual knowledge. This research offers concrete and applicable solutions to improve the quality of library services in the digital era

Abstract

This study examines the utilization of e-resources in information retrieval among users at the UPT Library of Andalas University. The research background lies in the digital transformation of academic libraries, where e-resources play a crucial role in fulfilling users' information needs. The aim is to analyze the level of utilization, the role of e-resources in information retrieval, and the challenges faced by users. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through observation and interviews with students from various majors. Findings reveal that while e-resources offer fast, flexible, and extensive access to academic materials, many users remain unaware or unskilled in their use due to low information literacy and insufficient training. Only one respondent reported actively using e-resources effectively, while others lacked knowledge about their existence or faced difficulty navigating database features. Challenges include limited understanding of search strategies, unfamiliarity with advanced features, and minimal outreach by the library. Despite these obstacles, e-resources hold strategic value in supporting academic productivity, distance learning, and efficient knowledge transfer. This study concludes that the effectiveness of information retrieval through e-resources can be significantly improved by enhancing digital literacy, providing regular training, and strengthening library outreach. Recommendations include designing user-oriented services and empowering librarians to serve as proactive facilitators in e-resource utilization.

Abstract

In maximizing the services of an institution, it is necessary to have a public relations strategy in achieving benefits and maintaining communication through social media. The purpose of this research is to see the optimization of the use of Instagram social media in increasing the Key Performance Indicator “Publication” of SIM Library Transformation as a public relations strategy at the Pabukon Ngadongeng Community Reading Park. The research method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews. The results of this study optimize Instagram with a public relations strategy that is carried out is to create content planning, design colorful feeds, publication time that adjusts to the time when users actively open Instagram social media, and promote Instagram publication results through other social media by sharing links. The results of Instagram publications increase the Key Performance Indicator “publication” by 57.5%.

Abstract

Perpustakaan saat ini sangat diperlukan dalam pencarian informasi dan referensi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna perpustakaan. Namun ada tiga faktor yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada bahan perpustakaan, yaitu faktor lingkungan, faktor manusia, dan faktor biota. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui upaya-upaya yang telah dilakukan oleh Unit Perpustakaan UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, yang juga dikenal sebagai UIN RMS Surakarta, dalam merawat dan melestarikan bahan perpustakaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Analisis data yang diperoleh mengungkapkan faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan kerusakan pada bahan perpustakaan, langkah-langkah pemeliharaan yang telah dilakukan untuk mencegah kerusakan bahan perpustakaan di Perpustakaan UIN RMS Surakarta, dan langkah-langkah pelestarian yang telah dilakukan oleh Perpustakaan UIN RMS Surakarta. Untuk mencegah kerusakan pada bahan pustaka, beberapa strategi telah diterapkan, yaitu dengan mengatur kelembaban ruangan sesuai standar yang ada, menyediakan ruangan ber-AC agar bahan pustaka terlindungi dari kerusakan akibat kelembaban tinggi atau rendah, mengatur pencahayaan, melakukan fumigasi dua kali setahun, menetralisir bahan pustaka dengan pengukurannya menggunakan larutan khusus, membersihkan bahan pustaka dari debu dan kotoran, serta melakukan inventarisasi. Setelah menerapkan berbagai metode ini, diharapkan bahan pustaka akan terlindungi dengan baik dan selalu bermanfaat bagi pengguna perpustakaan.

Abstract

The digital revolution has given rise to a literacy paradox in Indonesia. Amidst the current abundance of information access, there is no corresponding improvement in the quality of the public's digital comprehension. This situation demands a strategic transformation of libraries to remain relevant and functional in the modern era. This study aims to identify and analyze library transformation strategies that can be adopted to address this literacy gap. Using a qualitative method through a comprehensive literature review, this study analyzes various academic findings and current practices. The conclusion of this research reveals that an effective strategic library transformation must be built upon three pillars, where librarians must evolve from collection managers into Digital Literacy Guides, User Experience Architects, and Community Problem-Solving Partners who actively educate the public to navigate, evaluate, and utilize digital information critically and ethically. The integration of these three pillars is directed at addressing the root cause of the literacy paradox: by positioning libraries as knowledge curators and adaptive community innovation hubs. The application of this model is expected to optimize the role of libraries as adaptive and inclusive knowledge curators and community innovation centers within society. Thus, this transformation represents a fundamental repositioning of libraries from mere access providers into institutions that actively build societal literacy resilience. Consequently, libraries become a solid and dynamic foundation of knowledge amidst the increasingly rapid flow of digital information.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between personal library ownership and learning behavior among students of the Islamic Library and Information Science Program (IPII) amid limited institutional library collections. A quantitative method with an explanatory research approach was employed to measure the level of utilization of personal collections and their influence on students’ learning behavior. Data were collected through an online Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to IPII students using random sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted using validity and reliability tests, descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression with SPSS software. The findings indicate that although most students own a relatively small number of personal books, these collections are actively used to support understanding of course materials, completion of academic assignments, and exam preparation. Furthermore, personal library ownership has a positive effect on learning behavior, particularly in terms of learning independence, motivation, time management, material repetition, and academic confidence. The study concludes that personal libraries function as an effective alternative learning resource and play a significant role in fostering more independent, disciplined, and systematic learning behaviors among students, especially in academic environments where institutional library collections are still limited. Abstract

This research focuses on the implementation of collection media conversion into the INLISLite digital system as part of service development efforts at Mekar Arum School Library. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of implementing collection media conversion and to examine its implementation in supporting improved access to information for library users. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, as it aims to understand the processes and dynamics involved in the implementation of media conversion based on real conditions in the field. Research participants were selected purposively and consisted of librarians and intern students who were directly involved in digitalization activities and the use of the INLISLite system. Data collection techniques included observation of library management activities, semi-structured interviews to explore stages, constraints, and the roles of involved parties, as well as documentation in the form of relevant library records and archives. Data analysis was conducted continuously through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing in order to obtain a systematic overview of the collection media conversion implementation. This study is expected to provide insights into collection media conversion practices in school libraries and serve as a reference for the development of digital-based library services, particularly in the utilization of library automation systems to support access to information

Abstract

The management of land book delivery and return data is an essential component of archival administration at the National Land Agency (BPN) of Bandung City. To improve data organization and efficiency, spreadsheet-based recording has been implemented to support these processes. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of spreadsheet usage in the data recording process of land book delivery and return at BPN Bandung City. The research employs a qualitative approach, using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. Interviews were conducted with one key informant who directly manages the spreadsheet input process and two supporting informants consisting of internship students involved in daily data entry activities. Observations were carried out to understand the workflow of land book delivery and return, while documentation was used to support field findings. The results indicate that the use of spreadsheets contributes positively to administrative order, data accuracy, and work efficiency. Spreadsheet features such as real-time saving and shared access help reduce the risk of data loss and facilitate collaborative data management. The structured data format also supports annual reporting and employee performance evaluation. However, several limitations were identified, including the risk of data overlap due to simultaneous use and dependency on computer performance. Despite these constraints, the current system is considered effective in supporting archival management. Therefore, further development toward an integrated web-based system and improvement of supporting infrastructure are recommended to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of land book data management at BPN Bandung City.
