Abstract

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in the health sector are increasingly being used. However, there is limited study on the use of VR and AR in nursing care for heart failure. Long-term care for heart failure patients is a challenge as well as an opportunity for nurses to apply VR and AR, so that therapy modalities become more varied, interesting, and increase patient compliance. The aim of this literature study is to explore the use of VR and AR for heart failure patients. Articles were obtained from the ScienceDirect, PubMed, Clinical Key, SAGE, ProQuest and SpringerLink databases published in 2019-2023, using the keywords "virtual reality", "augmented reality", and "heart failure". The use of VR and AR in heart failure embraces the areas of patient care, both inpatient and outpatient. This study shows that VR and AR have a positive impact for heart failure patients. This technology can reduce patient’s level of pain and anxiety, and it also improve patient experience and participation in rehabilitation programs. Nurses can use this technology in almost all stages of the nursing process, from assessment to nursing implementation. Further studies are needed regarding VR and AR in cardiovascular nursing care that can be applied in Indonesia.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. This period was the most turbulent and difficult. Because it often causes several problems, such as tobacco addiction. The proportion of smokers is higher in adolescents aged under 15 years than in adolescents aged over 15 years. The cause lies in teenagers' curiosity and desire to try something new. Gender, psychological factors, the influence of peers and parents, and tobacco advertising are some of the factors that cause teenagers to smoke. This research aims to determine the factors that influence smoking behavior among adolescents. This research uses a quantitative and a descriptive-analytical design using a cross-sectional approach. The research population was teenagers who had a smoking habit totaling 157 respondents. The sampling method used purposive sampling which was carried out at the research location of State Middle Schools (SMPN) in the East Jakarta area from June to October 2023. The samples in this study were by the criteria that had been set. determined to be 83 respondents. The results of this study show that there is a significant relationship between gender, peer influence, parental influence, and cigarette advertising on adolescent smoking behavior. Cigarette advertising is the most dominant factor influencing smoking behavior among teenagers, with OR = 4.458. This means that cigarette advertising is more likely to influence teenagers' smoking behavior. The government must limit tobacco advertising in electronic, newspaper, magazine,  and social media.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by blood glucose (blood sugar) levels exceeding normal. Long-term complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus can include microangiopathy and macroangiopathy. Microvascular complications include neuropathy, while macrovascular damage includes damage to the peripheral blood vessels of the legs, which is usually called diabetic foot. Diabetic foot exercises, including physical exercise, are natural exercises that are practical in increasing perfusion to the periphery or can increase the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) value in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in the foot area. This study aimed to analyze the application of foot exercise interventions in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus to increase peripheral perfusion in the foot area. This research method uses a case report method with interventions carried out on one patient for  15-30 minutes per day for 3 days. The evaluation results after the foot exercise intervention found a change in the ABI value for the right leg from 0.91 to 1.04 and the left leg from 0.90 to 0.97. This shows that after the foot exercise intervention, the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) value increased. It is hoped that foot exercises for Diabetes Mellitus patients can be applied to patients while in hospital and can continue to be practiced independently by patients while at home

Abstract

A fall in the elderly causes a person to suddenly lie down accidentally on the ground or floor or lower level. This condition is often experienced by 1 in 3 elderly people every year. Risk factors for falls in the elderly are behaviour, biological, environmental, and socio-economic. Nurses can make efforts to reduce the risk of falls in the elderly through education for the elderly and their families. The study aimed to determine the extent of the influence of fall  prevention educational interventions on the risk of falls in the elderly in the family context. This study used a quasi-experiment, a group pretest post-test, education was carried out using a fall prevention booklet for the elderly in the intervention group and without a booklet in the control group. This research used a purposive sampling method using inclusion criteria to obtain 60 respondents consisting of 30 respondents in the intervention group and 30 respondents in the control group with 6 interactions carried out. The results of this study using the Wilcoxon test from fall prevention education in the intervention group and control group showed a decrease or reduction in fall risk scores (negative rank) in 15 respondents in the intervention group with an average decrease of 8. In the control group, there were 5 respondents experienced a decrease fall risk score, where the average value decreases by 3. The results of this test show the influence of fall prevention education in the elderly on the risk of falls with a p-value <0.001. The conclusion is that educational interventions to prevent falls in the elderly have an impact on reducing risk factors for falls in the elderly. The suggestion is that health education about fall prevention should be given to elderly clients as individuals and groups so that it will reduce risk factors for falls.

Abstract

Stroke is the main cause of disability which results in post-stroke patients needing family caregiver assistance in theirdaily lives. Family independence is needed to improve the ability to perform daily life activities of post-stroke patients. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the level of family independence and the frequency ofstroke attacks on the ability of daily life activities of post-stroke patients. This research method uses a cross-sectionalresearch design. The study population was 420 people. The sample in the study used cluster sampling with a total samplesize of 206 respondents. The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between thelevel of family independence and the ability to daily life activities of post-stroke patients (p=0.000) and there was asignificant relationship between the frequency of stroke attacks on the ability to daily life activities of post-stroke patients(p=0.001) <a-0.05. Good family independence is that the family can apply the seven indicators that have been determined. The better the level of family Idependence in post-stroke patients in the recovery process, the better the ability of dailylife activities. In conclusion, this study proves that a fairly good level of family independence can affect the ability of dailylife activities of post-stroke patients which is quite good as well, and repeated stroke attacks will also affect the ability todaily life activities of post-stroke patients due to the disability experienced by then getting heavier, therefore it is necessary to conduct counseling on family health tasks to increase the level of family independence in caring for post-stroke patients at home and prevent repeated strokes.
