Abstract

This study aims to explain the historical dynamics of the almsgiving tradition in Patat village, Waringinkurung village. This study uses a historical approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews and literature studies. The theory used is symbolic interaction theory. According to Blumer, in this study the symbolic meaning contained in the Sedekah Bumi tradition is communication or interaction between humans and their gods. Then the theory of structural functionalism by Talcot Parson, is used as a reference in seeing changes in functions and relations between people in maintaining and maintaining the implementation of the earth's alms ceremony. The findings obtained from interview observations with the people of Kampung Patat are that almsgiving is a hereditary tradition carried out by the Patat community as a form of gratitude for the community, especially the farming community, for having been given sustenance and favors by Allah SWT. The earth alms tradition is routinely carried out once every seven years, but in its development several changes have occurred, for example there is a change in the series of prayers. In ancient ancestral times, prayers or worship were dedicated to Dewi Sri as the goddess of rice.

Abstract

This study aims to find out The Role of National Flag Raisers in Indonesia to Forming Youth Nationalism (1946-1973) based on critical reviews in the national press. The research method used is the historical method which consists of heuristics (data collection), source criticism, interpretation, and historiography using the theory of nationalism. The results of the study found that Paskibraka had been formed since the Indonesian Independence Day in 1946 in Yogyakarta. The participants selected were students currently studying in Yogyakarta. The enthusiasm of the people, especially the youth who come from various regions in Indonesia, shows that the sense of nationalism was initially regional in nature. However, the raising of the heritage flag on the Indonesian Independence Day every year creates a sense of youth nationalism. Paskibraka's more fundamental role is to shape the character of the Indonesian youth to become youth who have a sense of nationalism in accordance with Pancasila.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to find out the history of state administration during the parliamentary system of government, starting from the time of the United Republic of Indonesia (RIS) to the Presidential Decree (1959), which made Indonesia return to the form of a republic. This article uses the historical method with the stages of gathering sources, verifying, discovering, and writing. The results obtained based on the collection of sources and data show that the parliamentary system of government during the time of the United States of Indonesia lasted very briefly, namely from 19491950, using the RIS Constitution as a legal guide. Then, still using a parliamentary system of government, Indonesia returned to the form of the Republic of Indonesia, but with the 1950 Constitution as a legal guideline. This law was drafted by combining the 1945 Constitution and the RIS Constitution. The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia with the 1950 Constitution lasted quite a long time, until finally the government in Indonesia with a parliamentary system of government ended when the Presidential Decree was issued in 1959.

Abstract

This paper discusses the asymmetric war in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021 between the United States (US) and the Taliban from the perspective of defense diplomacy. The purpose of this paper is to identify assymetric war strategies and to evaluate defense diplomacy process to create peace. The research is based on qualitative method using secondary data from books, documents, and journals. The study indicates that defense diplomacy had succesfully led to the peace agreement, signed in Doha on February 29, 2020 between the US and the Taliban, which had been in conflict for nearly 20 years. However, the peace creation process is not easy due to the inhibiting factors which play more significant role than the supporting factors for defense diplomacy. Although the US, a super power, is supported by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Pakistan and several other countries, it is not a guarantee for the US to achieve its war objectives. The US goals and strategy continuously changed over time and imprecise in its implementation. The US’s failure to understand the political entity of the Taliban, particulary in the political, social and cultural aspects, is the main obstacle to achieving the US’ war goals and the ease implementation of defense diplomacy.
