Abstract

The Siwa Watershed (DAS Siwa) in South Sulawesi is a strategic ecosystem spanning Wajo, Sidrap, and Luwu Regencies. Uncontrolled land use changes in this area have the potential to reduce ecological carrying capacity and increase ecosystem vulnerability. This study aims to analyze land use changes and ecosystem vulnerability levels in DAS Siwa during the 2015–2025 period using a descriptive quantitative-spatial approach based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Data used include multitemporal land use imagery, rainfall data, topographic maps, and administrative boundaries. Analysis shows that the total area of DAS Siwa is 26,866.85 ha, dominated by forest (70.66%) but experiencing deforestation of 552.99 ha (24.37%) during the observation period. Mixed plantations increased significantly by 389.70 ha (17.18%), while settlements and agricultural land also expanded. Ecosystem vulnerability was assessed through a composite index considering land change, rainfall intensity, slope, and vegetation cover. Spatial overlay results identified high vulnerability zones in the central and upstream parts of the watershed, coinciding with active deforestation and high rainfall areas. These findings are expected to serve as a scientific basis for sustainable and ecosystem-based management of DAS Siwa.

Abstract

Many junior high school pupils still have difficulty grasping algebraic concepts, despite the fact that this is an important foundation for studying mathematics. Students mathematical self-efficacy is one element thought to be connected to this challenge. This study aimed to describe students' mathematical self-efficacy and understanding of algebraic concepts and examine the relationship between these variables. This study used a correlational strategy along with a quantitative approach. 29 junior high school pupils who were chosen using a saturation sampling technique made up the sample. A mathematical self-efficacy questionnaire and an algebraic concept knowledge test were the tools utilized. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman Rank correlation test. The findings show that while students' mathematical self-efficacy fell into the intermediate group (M = 35.26), their grasp of algebraic concepts fell into the high category (M = 14.83). The correlation coefficient of 0.697 and significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) show a positive and significant relationship between the two variables. These results indicate that higher mathematical self-efficacy is associated with better understanding of algebraic concepts, although the correlational design does not permit causal inference.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep bangun datar pada siswa sekolah dasar masih menjadi tantangan karena konsep geometri cenderung bersifat abstrak sehingga sulit dipahami melalui pembelajaran konvensional. Penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi yang dipadukan dengan budaya lokal menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk menghadirkan pembelajaran yang lebih konkret dan bermakna. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh media Augmented Reality berbasis budaya lokal Kabupaten Sumedang dan GeoGebra terhadap pemahaman konsep bangun datar siswa sekolah dasar, sekaligus membandingkan efektivitas kedua media tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen dan desain non-equivalent pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas IV sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Sumedang Selatan yang memperoleh perlakuan menggunakan media yang berbeda. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemahaman konsep, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon, Paired Sample t-Test, Independent Sample t-Test, dan analisis N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua media mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep bangun datar siswa. Kelompok yang belajar menggunakan media Augmented Reality berbasis budaya lokal Kabupaten Sumedang memperoleh rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,44 dengan kategori sedang, sedangkan kelompok yang menggunakan GeoGebra memperoleh rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,27 dengan kategori rendah. Hasil Independent Sample t-Test menghasilkan nilai signifikansi 0,001, yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan peningkatan pemahaman konsep yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Dengan demikian, media Augmented Reality berbasis budaya lokal Kabupaten Sumedang lebih efektif dibandingkan GeoGebra dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep bangun datar siswa sekolah dasar. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pengintegrasian teknologi digital dengan budaya lokal dapat mendukung terciptanya pembelajaran matematika yang lebih kontekstual, interaktif, dan bermakna.

Abstract

The widespread use of conventional plastic polybags in vegetable cultivation contributes to persistent plastic waste because of their poor biodegradability, creating an increasing demand for environmentally friendly planting alternatives. This study evaluated the growth performance of pakcoy (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis) cultivated in biodegradable bioplastic polybags containing different incorporated urea contents under greenhouse conditions. Bioplastic polybags previously developed in our laboratory were employed as planting containers, in which urea was incorporated as a controlled nutrient source, and their agronomic performance was evaluated through plant height, leaf width, number of leaves, and chlorophyll content after 28 days of cultivation. Plant growth varied according to the incorporated urea content. Among the evaluated formulations, the bioplastic polybag containing 0.75 g urea produced the highest plant height (10.2 cm), leaf width (5.1 cm), number of leaves (12 leaves), and chlorophyll content (45.2 SPAD units), indicating superior vegetative development compared with the other treatments. These findings suggest that an appropriate level of urea incorporation is more effective in supporting plant growth than either lower or higher urea contents. Overall, the developed biodegradable bioplastic polybags demonstrated promising potential as environmentally friendly planting containers for vegetable cultivation and provide a practical approach for developing sustainable biodegradable planting systems with integrated nutrient supply. Further studies under field conditions and using different horticultural crops are recommended to validate their broader agricultural applicability.

Abstract

The low level of students' numeracy literacy and the limited availability of contextual teaching materials that encourage active problem-solving highlight the need to develop innovative learning resources aligned with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to develop a numeracy literacy teaching module based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) for 7th-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Palopo, focusing on the topic of data presentation. The study employs a modified 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) and was carried out up to the Develop stage. The research subjects consisted of 32 students from class VII B, with instruction conducted over six sessions in April 2026. The results indicate that the module meets the following criteria: (1) valid, with an average validation score of 3.4 (highly valid); (2) practical, with a student response rate of 81% (excellent), an instructional implementation rate of 98.9% (fully implemented), and a student activity rate of 85.4% (highly active); and (3) effective, with an average post-test score of 77.6. The results of this study indicate that the developed PBL-based literacy and numeracy teaching module meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) has become increasingly integrated into higher education, creating opportunities for improving learning processes while raising concerns regarding academic integrity and responsible technology use. This study aims to identify patterns of generative AI utilization among students in completing academic assignments based on AI declaration data. A mixed-methods approach was employed involving 44 students from the Chemistry Education Program enrolled in the Kajian Kurikulum Kimia SMK course. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency and percentage analysis, while qualitative responses were examined through content analysis. The findings indicate that most students used AI in a limited manner (86.4%), primarily for brainstorming ideas (77.3%), understanding concepts (70.5%), and developing writing frameworks (47.7%). ChatGPT was the most frequently used platform (93.2%), followed by Google Gemini (45.5%) and Canva AI (29.5%). Students generally utilized AI as a supporting tool rather than a replacement for independent work, demonstrated by their efforts to adapt AI-generated outputs to course contexts (65.9%), develop additional content (56.8%), and verify information using academic sources (93.2%). However, some students still showed potential risks related to dependency and insufficiently detailed AI interaction strategies. This study concludes that AI declaration forms can serve as valuable instruments for understanding actual AI usage patterns and promoting transparent, ethical, and responsible AI integration in higher education.

Abstract

The low level of students’ mathematical conceptual understanding was evidenced by the Mid-Semester Assessment (STS) results for the 2025/2026 academic year. Students’ mathematics scores remained below the established Minimum Learning Achievement Criteria (KKTP) of 75, with the highest score reaching only 72. Moreover, 24 of 39 students had not achieved the KKTP. This condition indicates the need for meaningful and contextual learning to improve students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Burandut media in supporting the mathematical conceptual understanding of fifth-grade students. The study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 39 fifth-grade students at SD N 3 Demaan Kudus. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired-sample t-test, and N-Gain test with SPSS version 25. The results showed that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.258 for the pretest and 0.417 for the posttest, both exceeding 0.05. The paired-sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Furthermore, the N-Gain value was 0.66, categorized as moderate. Therefore, the CTL model assisted by BURANDUT media was moderately effective in supporting students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. The implementation positively contributed to students’ ability to understand, differentiate, represent, and relate angle concepts to real-life contexts. Thus, CTL assisted by Burandut media can be an alternative learning approach to support students’ mathematical conceptual understanding, particularly in angle material.
