Abstract

Organizational commitment has a very large influence on employee job satisfaction, especially in terms of improving the quality of employee performance. Sometimes both the incumbents/staff do not heed the agreed commitments so as to allow a decrease in the quality of performance in an organizational unit. This study surveyed a large number of people, including employees working in North Aceh Education and Culture Offices. This research is quantitative research. Questionnaires were used to collect data. The non-probability sampling method is used to select respondents from a population. The analysis used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The result of this research is to increase the implementation of organizational commitment to increasing employee job satisfaction. This research is expected to be input and reference for leaders in developing policies related to organizational commitment to employee job satisfaction in an organization, and the results of this study cannot be used as a reference or comparison for an organization regarding the impact of organizational commitment on employee job satisfaction.

Abstract

Kiai communication is a unique pesantren treasure, full of characteristics and attractiveness. The communication treasures of kiai eventually become the tradition of the pesantren which is always interesting to be discussed. Regarding the tradition of kiai communication at Pesantren Annuqayah Guluk-Guluk, a qualitative approach was conducted by collecting data in the form of words holistically using interviews, observation, and document studies. The data were analyzed using the following steps: data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusions or verification. This research has succeeded in revealing the fact that the communication tradition of kiai is generally categorized into two parts: 1) outward communication (bil lisān and bil āl), and 2) inner communication. The communication of kiai at pesantren Annuqayah refers to the following principles; qaulan balīgan, qaulan maisran, qaulan ma'rfan, qaulan karīman, qaulan sadīdan, and qaulan layyinan.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the kinds of language styles used in English Commercial Products and Educational Advertisements on the internet. This research used a qualitative descriptive technique by collecting fifteen English Commercial Products and five Educational Advertisements from the internet and using them as documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusion/verification. As the results of this research, the researcher found six language styles used in commercial product advertisements: spokesperson, problem solution, demonstration, a slice of life, comparison, and combination of problem solution and comparison style; and three language styles used in the educational advertisement: hard sell, soft sell, and straightforward style.

Abstract

Drug abuse is a negative/irrational behavior that can harm oneself and others. One of the causes of drug abuse is the low self-control of students. Clients who have problems with low self-control in drug abuse need to be counseled through rational emotive behavior therapy in group settings. The aims of this study were: (1) to test the significant difference in the level of self-control of the experimental group students before and after being given the rational emotive behavior therapy setting technique, (2) to test the significant difference in the level of self-control of the control group students before and after being given services without treatment specifically, (3) examine the effectiveness of the rational approach to emotive behavior therapy setting in groups in increasing self-control in preventing drug abuse. This study used a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design with pretest and posttest. The research subjects were students of class VIII-3 and VIII-4 at SMP Negeri 4 Padang Pariaman with a sample of 20 people who were divided into 2 groups consisting of 10 people as the experimental group and 10 people as the control group. The sampling technique was purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed Rank Test and Kolmogorov Smirnov 2 Independent Samples with the help of SPSS version 20. The results showed that the rational emotive behavior threapy approach was effective in increasing students' self-control in preventing drug abuse. This can be seen from: (1) there is a significant difference in the level of self-control of the experimental group students before and after being given the rational emotive behavior therapy setting technique, (2) there is a significant difference in the level of self-control of the control group students before and after being given services without treatment specifically, (3) there is the effectiveness of the rational approach to emotive behavior therapy setting in groups in increasing self-control in preventing drug abuse. The implementation of the rational emotive behavior therapy setting approach in groups should be intensified in the form of Guidance Counseling programs and designed as well as possible by counsellors or Guidance Counseling teachers.

Abstract

The learning delivered by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers often does not touch the motivation of students' learning, so that the learning process has not been able to improve learning outcomes as expected. This incident is not much different from that experienced by PAI teachers at Public Junior High School (SMPN) 2 Syamtalira Arun, which has an impact on poor learning outcomes due to the ability of PAI Teachers to encourage students to use punishment and reward methods that are in accordance with the conditions of their students. The research questions in this study are: 1) How is the implementation of the reward and punishment method to improve PAI learning outcomes? 2) What are the obstacles faced by PAI teachers? 3) How are the teachers' efforts in overcoming the existing obstacles? This type of research uses qualitative research with a phenomenological approach to the actual conditions of the research subject at the research location. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The provision of rewards and punishments in improving PAI learning outcomes at SMPN 2 Syamtalira Aron is carried out in various forms, for example, giving prizes and appreciation for those who excel and praise. Meanwhile, those who break the rules are given punishments that are educational both in groups and individually. The obstacles faced by PAI teachers in implementing rewards and punishments to improve PAI learning outcomes at SMPN 2 Syamtalira Aron are complex obstacles: 1) the students are mostly villagers, and most students are busy with activities to help their parents, 2) apathetic parents who do not want to know about their children's learning outcomes, 3) the obstacle is inadequate school facilities. The efforts made by PAI teachers in overcoming obstacles in implementing rewards and punishments to improve PAI learning outcomes at SMPN 2 Syamtalira Aron: 1) completing teaching administration, such as lesson plans, syllabus, media, and preparing learning materials; 2) activates the school MGMP (Subject Teachers Discussion).

Abstract

The article projected the outcome of a research and Development (R&D) design on an Interactive Multimedia Computer Application which was implemented to be an English Subject learning module, teaching descriptive texts, for the students at a Junior High School, SMP Swasta Dwi Tunggal, Kota Medan. The App, “Devourlish”, is a multi-platform App, capable run-on both Personal computers (PC) and Smartphones; The Google-Play and Apple-Apps Store Ecosystems. The process was formative teaching as the evaluation phases (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) ADDIE of R&D design for the seventh grade, which was conducted in collaboration with the English teacher at the school, highlighted the students’ engagement to interactive learning apps and enlisted the students’ learning experiences on descriptive texts. The result indicated the apps was very highly practical since the average score in both phases were 3.69 and 3.74 respectively proving learning achievement as the potential effect in term of evaluated formative phases. Additionally, the apps also high potential effect after being tried out in the classroom, which is an application quality control for ADDIE in R&D design, reaching out to 80 % of the students learning achievement. Eventually, the success of the app to facilitate English subject learning experiences the effort to draw the student's interest, to make the “Devourlish” accepted, and to affect ADDIE in an R&D design.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the integration of science based on a review of philosophy through the study of aspects of ontology, epistemology, and Axiology. This research utilizes library research methods along with data analysis techniques like as content analysis/content analysis. The findings of this study show that the integration of Science from the point of view of Ontology shows that the study of Science concerns all that exists in the universe, both abstract and concrete, and the integration of Science from the viewpoint of Epistemology shows that religious science is obtained through the process of study and interpretation through the verses of qauliyah, whilst general science is obtained through observation and experimentation through the verses of kauniyah, both of which are equally sourced from Allah Subhaanahu Wata’ala. Epistemology demonstrates that Allah SWT provides knowledge through his guidance in the Qur'an, Hadith, and the universe. The axiology aspect illustrates that knowledge integration is intended to form a perfect human (insān kāmil), or a complete human being with breadth of insight and greatness of character; knowledge integration is also an effort of raḥmatan lil 'ālamīn.

Abstract

The development of information technology supports children to learn more optimally, so more optimally children need intermediaries or what is commonly referred to as learning media, where the existence of learning media can divert children's attention does not get bored quickly or be able to concentrate in an activity with a long enough time compared to other activities by not using learning media. In this study, the learning media in question is an application that can provide knowledge to children about recognizing letters, numbers, colours, animals, and fruits around them. Making learning media, cannot be separated from the exercises or questions given to measure how much material is absorbed. The purpose of this study is to help foster children's interest in learning the introduction of letters, numbers, colours, hijaiyah letters, animals, and fruits through a learning application. The type of research used in this research is Research and Development (R&D). This data collection technique includes media feasibility validation and response questionnaires. The Validation of the media that has been developed is carried out by two validators in the field of education. Response questionnaires were given to 2 teachers and 1st grade students at 4 Banda Sakti elementary school. Application development is carried out using the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method. The results of the study are in the form of an android application that presents materials about recognizing letters, numbers, colours, animals, fruits, and hijaiyah letters as well as several practice questions that are presented randomly. The result shows that the media’s validation obtained 95% which means the media is feasible to be tested. Meanwhile, the teacher and student’s response questionnaires were 95.8% and 94%, respectively, which indicated that the media could be used as a learning support.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research is motivated by the low value of Islamic Religious Education subjects on the material "Tajhīz Jenazah". This is because students do not understand the material presented by the teacher. Students also have a slow response when learning takes place, so learning outcomes are not optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Poster and Audio-Visual session learning strategies could improve students' ability to understand the material on Tajhīz Jenazah”, to determine student responses, and to determine learning outcomes. To overcome this situation, the researcher tried to change the Poster Session and Audio-Visual learning strategies which were considered suitable for the learning process so that they could improve students' understanding and response. This type of research is Classroom Action Research using a qualitative descriptive approach. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques are tests, observations, and document studies. The research instruments were test sheets, observation checklists, and documentation sheets. The results showed that by using the Poster Session and Audio-Visual learning strategies, student learning outcomes increased. In the first cycle, the number of students who got a complete score was 14 students (46.66%), while 16 students (53.33%) got an incomplete score. The second cycle showed a better increase, that the completeness score to 27 students (90%), there an increase of 36.67%. The implication of this research is that by using Poster Sessions and Audio-Visual learning strategies, the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education Subjects on the material "Tajhīz Jenazah" can be increased.

Abstract

In the 2013 Curriculum (Kurtilas), learning through any method or model is inseparable from the evaluation of determining the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) as the initial stage of assessing learning outcomes. In reality, many teachers still fail to analyze and consider the principles in determining the KKM. The aim of this research is to improve teachers' skills in developing KKM at MTsN 2 Kota Lhokseumawe. The emancipatory type was chosen as the method for this action research. The Kemmis model design was used as the research design, consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This action research also encouraged the researcher to deeply address practical problems in educational institutions. Based on the research findings and discussions, it can be concluded that the workshop enhanced teachers' ability to develop KKM. In the first cycle, three out of five criteria for assessing teachers' performance did not meet the criteria. However, in the second cycle, all aspects met the criteria. The assessment results for determining the KKM improved; in the first cycle, the ability to determine the KKM reached 83.75%, while in the second cycle, there was an increase to 93.25%. The research findings also indicated a significant increase in the percentage of teachers ready to fulfill the workshop implementation aspect. Therefore, it can be said that the response of teachers at MTsN 2 Lhokseumawe towards the workshop activities was very positive.
