Abstract

Previous research has indicated that bullying typically emerges during late childhood, often within elementary school settings. Although bullying behaviors are commonly observed among elementary school children, many students remain unfamiliar with the term "bullying". This study aimed to explore both students’ and teachers’ understanding of bullying, as well as the dynamics contributing to the development of such behavior. Employing a case study approach, data were collected through interviews with individuals identified as bullying perpetrators and those closest to them, including peers, teachers, and parents. The findings revealed that both teachers and students recognized bullying as harmful behavior that leads to emotional distress and physical harm. In this case, bullying behavior was associated with aggressive tendencies modeled by parents, and the school failed to provide an adequate response or intervention. These results underscore the importance of establishing a consistent and shared understanding of bullying among all school staff, and fostering collaboration between schools and the broader support systems of children to effectively prevent bullying behavior.

Abstract

The family plays a crucial role in supporting the physical and psychosocial development of adolescents. This study employed a quantitative correlational approach to examine the relationship between family satisfaction and adolescents’ mental health status, stress, and depression. The research involved 205 adolescents aged 12–18 years in Ruteng, Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to participants via Google Forms. The results showed significant relationships between family satisfaction and mental health status (p-value: 0.00), stress (p-value: 0.000), and depression (p-value: 0.000). The findings suggest that adolescents who experience family satisfaction tend to have better mental health. These results emphasize the vital role of the family in preventing mental health issues—especially stress and depression—among adolescents.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure due to chronic malnutrition, resulting in children being too short for their age, and typically occurs in toddlers. The occurrence of stunting in toddlers is influenced by several interrelated multifactorial causes. Stunting prevention can be achieved by fulfilling nutritional needs during the First 1000 Days of Life. This study aimed to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting. This was a quantitative study using a cross-sectional design, conducted at the Kemalo Abung Health Center from July to October 2024. The respondents consisted of 92 participants selected using a purposive sampling technique. The inclusion criteria were mothers with toddlers aged 2–3 years. Data collection instruments included a questionnaire and a microtoise. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting (p-value = 0.814).

Abstract

High levels of fatigue among nurses in the Emergency Department (ED) can lead to various negative consequences, including increased risk of errors, changes in physical and mental health, and decreased quality of care. This study aims to describe the level of fatigue among ED nurses in hospitals in Banjarmasin. A quantitative research method was employed using the KUPK2 questionnaire, administered to 35 respondents through a total sampling technique during June–July 2024. Data were analyzed using univariate tests to provide a comprehensive overview of fatigue levels. The results showed that the average work fatigue score among nurses was 26.49, which falls into the "fatigued" category. These findings highlight the need for greater attention to nurses’ health and well-being, as well as the development of intervention programs to improve the quality of care in the ED.

Abstract

The success of diabetes prevention is influenced by several factors, including access to information, family support, diet, activity patterns, nutritional status, and self-efficacy. These factors play a significant role in the self-care practices of individuals with diabetes. Self-care refers to actions taken by patients to improve their ability to meet their daily needs independently, enabling them to prevent and manage their illness and adhere to treatment and recommendations provided by healthcare services. This study aims to identify the self-care practices of individuals with diabetes. The research involved 40 respondents diagnosed with diabetes. The average self-care score among diabetic patients in the working area of Banjar Baru Selatan Community Health Center was 68.53, with the lowest score being 39 and the highest score 92. Establishing self-care behaviors as part of a cultural norm requires consistent repetition and routine, to the extent that these behaviors may eventually become secondary needs. One approach to cultivating such habits in individuals with diabetes is to focus on addressing their weaknesses through methods that align with their routines and learning patterns. This strategy can help foster motivation and enthusiasm in managing their condition.

Abstract

Abstract

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, including in Indonesia. Low public awareness in recognizing stroke symptoms is a major factor contributing to delayed treatment. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of culture-based education using a Banjar-language FAST animation video in improving family knowledge and attitudes toward early stroke detection. The research design used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test as well as a control group. The sample consisted of 100 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge and attitude scores in the intervention group (p < 0.05). This indicates that culture-based education is more effective than conventional education. In conclusion, this approach can serve as a more inclusive health education model for communities with language limitations.

Abstract

Diarrhea is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among children in Indonesia. Health education in schools serves as a key strategy in reducing the incidence of diarrhea in children. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) method combined with video media in improving elementary school students’ knowledge of diarrhea prevention. A quasi-experimental method with a pre-test–posttest design and a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design was employed, involving 70 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. The results showed a significant increase in diarrhea prevention knowledge scores in the intervention group compared to the control group (p<0.05). This indicates that game-based learning is more effective than conventional educational methods. Based on these findings, the TGT method can be considered an innovative and interactive educational strategy within school health programs and is recommended for broader implementation alongside evaluations of behavioral changes in diarrhea prevention.

Abstract

Employee performance in hospitals is influenced by individual motivation and the organizational environment, yet the mechanisms linking these factors are underexplored. This study examined the effects of work culture and motivation on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a potential mediator. A cross-sectional design and Hayes’ PROCESS macro (Model 4) were used to assess direct and indirect effects. Results indicated that work motivation significantly predicted job satisfaction, which in turn predicted performance. The direct effect of motivation on performance was non-significant, indicating full mediation. Conversely, work culture had a strong direct effect on performance but did not significantly influence job satisfaction, and its indirect effect was non-significant. These findings support two explanatory mechanisms: a psychological pathway, where motivation affects performance via satisfaction, and a structural pathway, where work culture directly influences performance. These insights inform strategies for enhancing employee outcomes in hospital settings through both motivational and organizational interventions.

Abstract

Stroke patients often experience changes in body structure, form, and function, which can lead to a decrease in self-efficacy. Individuals living with chronic illness require social support, health education, guidance, and coping strategies to manage their condition. One of the challenges faced by stroke patients is the limited access to in-person support services. Delivering care through alternative modes such as video, computer, or telephone has the potential to overcome some of these barriers. This review aimed to examine the effectiveness of information technology-based educational interventions on the self-efficacy of stroke patients. This study employed a scoping review framework. Literature searches were conducted using databases including Scopus, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and PubMed. The keywords used were “stroke” AND “education” AND “self-efficacy”, limited to publications from the past 10 years. Articles were written in English and of the randomized controlled trial type. A total of nine articles were reviewed, which reported the use of technology-based media such as telephone, video, virtual reality, and computer devices in the follow-up care of stroke patients at home. The findings indicate that the use of information technology is effective in improving self-efficacy, health literacy, and the quality of life of stroke patients.
