Abstract

The promotion of polygamy mentoring began in 2017 by several polygamy practitioners as an Islamic lifestyle among the urban middle class. This movement goes hand in hand with the hijrah movement, which is also increasingly popular among them. Polygamy is even openly promoted through high-cost mentoring courses. Starting from tens to hundreds of millions of rupiah. This article presents a qualitative research that employs the netnography method to investigate the promotion of paid polygamy mentoring on social media by Dauroh Poligami Indonesia (DPI), Forum Poligami Indonesia (FPI), and Private Mentor Coach Hafidin. This article aims to explore the goals and motives behind the promotion of paid polygamy mentoring conducted by the mentors. By observing their posts on social media and conducting interviews, this research found that the practice of promoting paid polygamy mentoring, which is a form of religious commodification, has several purposes for the mentors: fulfilling religious commandments (piety), increasing offspring and strengthening the power of Islam as well as engaging in jihad fi sabilillah (ideological goals), and achieving material gain (economic purposes). The author argues that the practice of religious commodification is not always aimed solely at generating economic profit, but in some cases also serves ideological and pious purposes. This research also corrects the studies by Ahmadi, Hasan, and Fealy, who argue that the practice of religious commodification is solely economically motivated. Based on this research case,  the ideological and theological motives are also found in the practice of promoting paid polygamy mentoring on social media.

Abstract

Digitalization has changed the face of Islamic preaching and dissemination of knowledge, including the interpretation of the Qur'an, which now reaches a broad audience through various social media platforms. This transformation presents significant opportunities in religious education, but also poses serious challenges in the form of distortion of meaning and oversimplification in the presentation of interpretations. This study aims to examine the dynamics of disseminating interpretations of the Qur'an on social media from three main aspects: opportunities, potential distortion, and ethics of dissemination. With a qualitative-analytical approach, this study relies on digital documentation and literature studies of interpretation content spread on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The data is reviewed in depth to understand the methodological tendencies, narratives, and scientific responsibilities in the presentation of interpretations. The results of the study show that although social media can increase accessibility and attract the interest of the younger generation in interpretations, there is a high risk of the dissemination of interpretations that do not go through proper scientific procedures, ignore the context of the verses, and pay little attention to differences in the views of scholars. In addition, ethics in disseminating interpretations are often ignored, either in the form of plagiarism, provocation, or misleading language. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of ethical guidelines and the active role of religious institutions in overseeing the dissemination of digital interpretation of the Qur'an so that it remains within the scientific and Sharia corridor. This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between digital innovation and the integrity of interpretation science in presenting relevant, credible, and responsible da'wah in the information era.

Abstract

The challenge of integrating a materialist approach into Islamic interpretation is generally spiritual and theological. Hasan Hanafi's thoughts, which promote left-wing Islam, present an ideological conflict, especially with traditional interpretations that focus more on aspects of faith and spirituality. This study uses library research because the primary focus of the study is on collecting secondary data through a study of various written literature sources. The study results show that: 1) Hasan Hanafi's Islamic Leftic Concept influences the interpretation of materialism in the Islamic tradition. Hasan Hanafi developed the concept of Islamic Left, which integrates the ideology of materialism with Islamic principles. In his thinking, Islam is not only seen as a spiritual religion, but also as a tool to criticize social and political injustice, and to encourage structural change. 2) The implications of the interpretation of materialism according to Hasan Hanafi in contemporary Islamic thought are that Hanafi's materialist interpretation brings important implications in contemporary Islamic thought by emphasizing that religious texts must be understood in a social and economic context. He argues that Islam must function as a force for social change, not just for individual worship. 3) The problems of Hasan Hanafi's thinking and the interpretation of materialism according to the views of Muslim intellectuals are that Hasan Hanafi's thinking on the interpretation of materialism faces criticism from conservative Muslim intellectuals who consider it a deviation from traditional interpretation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe various efforts made to shape the religious character of students through the extracurricular activities of Islamic Spirituality (Rohis) Pro Patria at YP 17 High School Surabaya. The main problem in this study is how Rohis's activities function as an effective medium in developing the religious character of students, amidst the moral challenges of today's young generation. This study applies a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data collection process was carried out through observation techniques, in-depth interviews with Rohis instructors, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and active Rohis members, and documentation of activities. The results of the study showed that Rohis extracurricular activities at  YP 17 High School Surabaya were carried out in a structured manner through routine programs such as Islamic studies (Hadith Arbain, Tauhid, Fikih, and Muhadharah), Reading and Writing the Qur'an (BTQ), Islamic arts (Sholawat Quraniyah and Al-Banjari), and the habituation of daily worship such as the call to prayer and congregational prayer. These programs play an active role in instilling religious values, forming positive habits, and increasing students' spiritual awareness. The implication of this finding is the importance of supporting and developing religious-based extracurricular programs as part of the character education strategy in schools.

Abstract

Da'wah puppet skin The Punokawan is preaching, culturally packaged in the form of a symbol through traditional arts. Wayang figures are believed to have been created by the Walisongo as a medium for Islamic preaching in Java. In understanding these symbols, Friedrich DE Schleiermacher's hermeneutic approach is used, emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the reader, author, and text. Schleiermacher argued that to understand a text in its entirety; one must explore the psychological aspects and position of the author. Therefore, in interpreting the form of Punokawan, especially the figure of Semar, an understanding of the social, cultural, and spiritual context of Walisongo at that time is needed. This study employs the systematic literature review method, incorporating Schleiermacher's intentional hermeneutic approach, and is supported by Roland Barthes' semiotic Theory as a tool for analyzing symbols and signs. The results of the study indicate that the interpretation of the Semar character has not been based entirely on the values of Islamic preaching, which are the basis of its creation. Thus, this study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the preaching message contained in Punokawan, a legacy of Walisongo's symbolic communication.

Abstract

This article discusses the strategic role of the younger generation in initiating and managing non-formal schools as a tangible form of social empowerment in the midst of limited access to formal education. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study reveals various alternative education initiatives driven by young people in urban and rural areas, such as Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and East Flores. This non-formal school is not only a learning space, but also a vehicle for character building, strengthening community values, and resistance to structural injustice. The findings show that the involvement of young people in non-formal education is driven by a spirit of solidarity, social sensitivity, and local innovation based on community assets. However, the movement still faces challenges in terms of sustainability, legality, and policy support. Therefore, synergy is needed between the state, society, and the private sector to recognize and support the work of the young generation in alternative education as part of sustainable social development.

Abstract

This study explores the intellectual contribution of KH. Muhammad Ishomuddin Hadziq (Gus Ishom) in revitalising Islamic education at Pesantren Tebuireng through codifying literary works by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari. The research was driven by the academic neglect of these manuscripts, many of which were no longer taught at the pesantren since 1946. This study employs a qualitative historical method, combining document analysis, literature study, and in-depth interviews with family members and pesantren figures. The findings reveal that Gus Ishom systematically collected, verified, and published several of his grandfather's manuscripts—such as Adab al-'Ālim wa al-Muta'allim, al-Tibyān, and Risālah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamā'ah—into the compilation Irsyādus Sārī. These efforts restored Tebuireng's intellectual legacy and reintroduced classical Islamic thought into the formal curriculum of Pesantrens and Islamic universities. This codification contributed to the reintegration of traditional Pesantren scholarship (turāth) into modern Islamic education, while establishing a model for contextualising classical texts. The study concludes that Gus Ishom's scholarly initiative had a transformative impact on the development of Islamic education and the intellectual identity of Pesantren Tebuireng.

Abstract

Evaluative research is urgently needed to illustrate how Trensains is implemented in real-world contexts, particularly in educational institutions such as Muhammadiyah Senior High School in Sragen, which has adopted this approach. This study presents a unique approach by examining the integration of verses from kauniyah (the universe) and qauliyah (revelation/the Qur'an) in science learning. This study's novelty lies in applying the Countenance Stake evaluation model to assess the level of integration of Islamic values within the Trensains curriculum structure, which also represents a new contribution to the field of evaluating integrative science-based Islamic education. This research is an evaluative study with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The Countenance Evaluation Model developed by Stake was used to evaluate the program. The research location was Muhammadiyah Senior High School in Sragen, Central Java. This model examines program implementation through three main components, namely: (a) antecedents or initial context evaluation; (b) transactions that reflect the learning implementation process; and (c) outputs that evaluate the results of the process. The number of respondents was five teachers and three students. Implementing the Trensains program, which integrates science and divine revelation values, has significantly shaped students' conceptual understanding, analytical skills, and spiritual awareness. The learning strategy applied has led to a holistic scientific-spiritual approach. However, in its implementation, there are several obstacles, especially in the form of integration in the curriculum, especially in both fields, and strengthening the role of teachers as facilitators of integrated learning. Training in the integration of science and divine revelation values that is running has not been fully optimal due to limited understanding of the integrative approach, according to the field being developed, the lack of a comprehensive assessment rubric, and the lack of systemic support in terms of facilities and cross-subject collaboration.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the classroom management strategies applied in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) learning, specifically the material of Fardhu Prayer for second grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) An Nur Krian. The background of this study emphasizes the importance of Islamic Jurisprudence learning that is not only theoretical but also includes practical, affective, and spiritual approaches, which are specifically adapted to the developmental characteristics of children of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah age. A qualitative descriptive method was used with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show five main strategies used by teachers: (1) learning planning based on direct prayer practice, (2) classroom arrangement resembling rows, (3) use of visual media such as motion cards and learning videos, (4) reinforcement of positive behavior through rewards and praise, and (5) an affective and spiritual approach in which the teacher acts as a role model. These strategies effectively create a conducive classroom atmosphere, increase student engagement, and foster internalization of sincerity in worship. This study confirms that appropriate classroom management in Islamic Jurisprudence learning has a significant influence on the success of value-based religious education in early childhood. These findings can be a reference in developing a fiqh learning model based on character formation and practical experience in Islamic elementary schools.
