Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of automatic and manual rain gauges in the Central Highlands of Central Java using a machine learning approach based on Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and Random Forest Regression (RFR) algorithms. Daily rainfall data were collected from five regencies Banyumas, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Temanggung, and Pemalang between 2021 and 2024. Preprocessing involved merging data from two types of instruments (Automatic Rain Gauge/AWS and manual ombrometer), correcting anomalies, and standardizing date-time formats. The models were developed using feature engineering techniques, including multi-lag and moving averages, and evaluated using MAE, RMSE, and R-squared (R²) metrics. The results show that the XGBoost model with automatic data achieved the best performance, with a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 17.3632 mm, Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 27.0282 mm, and R² of 0.5050. In comparison, the Random Forest model with automatically generated data produced an MAE of 16.6307 mm, an RMSE of 28.5286 mm, and an R² of 0.4485. Models with manual data showed lower performance, with R² values below 0.30. These findings indicate that automatic measurement data are more stable and effective for building predictive rainfall models using machine learning. This supports the use of automatic instruments as the primary data source in rainfall forecasting and hydrometeorological disaster mitigation systems.

Abstract

This study systematically examined the integration of ChatGPT in enhancing reading comprehension within English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pedagogy through a scoping review of scholarly literature. Adopting a qualitative approach guided by the Arksey and O’Malley framework, studies were sourced from indexed databases including ERIC, Web of Science, and Scopus via Google Scholar covering publications from 2021 to 2025. Study selection adhered to PRISMA-ScR guidelines developed by Tricco et al. to ensure methodological rigor and transparency. From thirty-four articles, fifteen were retained based on inclusion criteria: EFL instructional context, explicit use of ChatGPT for reading, and empirically grounded findings. Thematic analysis revealed that ChatGPT contributes to improved reading comprehension, student motivation, learner engagement, and AI literacy by facilitating personalized and adaptive instructional interactions. Nevertheless, the research remains constrained by short-term designs, limited exploration of prompting strategies, and lack of integration with pedagogical frameworks such as the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD). Ethical concerns, including information validity, learner dependency, and digital literacy, are also underexplored. This review offers a systematic contribution, illuminating both the potential and unresolved challenges of ChatGPT integration in EFL reading instruction, and provides a foundation for future inquiries prioritizing contextual relevance, theoretical alignment, and ethical responsibility.

Abstract

Creativity is a key competency in 21st-century science education, yet conventional teaching methods often fail to adequately foster students' creative thinking. This study aims to examine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students’ creativity in science subjects among fifth-grade students at MIS Annajwaturrusydah. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 60 students divided equally into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through creativity tests, interviews, and observations. The independent samples t-test showed a significant difference between the post-test scores of the two groups (p = 0.000). The experimental group’s mean score increased from 10.67 to 19.04, while the control group’s score rose from 7.44 to 11.78. These findings indicate that the PjBL model significantly enhances student creativity compared to conventional instructional methods. The study recommends broader implementation of PjBL in science classes to support students' creative development.

Abstract

Object detection is a fundamental task in computer vision systems used in robotics, automation, and real-time tracking applications. However, implementing accurate and responsive detection on low-cost embedded hardware presents significant challenges due to limited processing power and environmental variability. This study aims to evaluate the performance of an object detection system utilizing ArUco markers on a Raspberry Pi-based platform. The research investigates the system’s ability to detect and identify three types of physical objects a plastic bottle, a flower pot, and a glass cup as well as the performance when all three objects are present simultaneously. The system was tested under controlled static conditions using a camera to capture real-time video streams. Detection time, computation time, and accuracy were measured across five consecutive frames for each scenario. Results show that the system achieved consistent detection and processing times below 0.14 seconds per frame, meeting real-time performance criteria. Detection accuracy across all individual object scenarios exceeded 91%, with the highest accuracy recorded in the multi-object scenario at 93.44%. No detection failures occurred during the experiments, and frame-by-frame analysis confirmed temporal stability. These findings indicate that marker-based detection is a reliable and efficient approach for real-time applications in structured environments. The study provides a foundation for extending the system to more dynamic conditions in future research.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of digitalization of Islamic banking and digital financial literacy on Generation Z saving behavior, with halal lifestyle as a mediating variable. The study was conducted with an explanatory quantitative approach using AMOS-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis techniques. The research respondents were 150 active students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Islamic University of Malang who have used Islamic bank digital services. The research instrument was prepared based on validated indicators from previous research. The analysis shows that the digitalization of Islamic banking has a positive and significant effect on Generation Z's saving behavior (CR 1.96, p 0.05). Digital financial literacy also has a significant influence on saving behavior, as well as strengthening individual capacity in making financial decisions independently and according to sharia principles. Halal lifestyle is proven to act as a significant partial mediating variable in the relationship between digitalization and saving behavior, as well as between digital financial literacy and saving behavior. This means that the higher the awareness of halal lifestyle, the stronger the relationship between the adoption of Islamic financial technology and sharia-compliant saving habits. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing digital services that are not only efficient and secure, but also in line with Islamic religious and ethical values, in order to strengthen the loyalty and financial inclusion of young Muslims. This research also provides a theoretical contribution to the digital technology-based Islamic financial behavioral literature.
