Abstract

This study aims to analyze learning difficulties in relation to students' levels of conceptual understanding—categorized as conceptually understood, misconceptions, and lack of understanding—among 11th-grade science students (Grade XI MIPA) in the Teupah Barat District, specifically concerning the topic of hydrocarbons. A Two-Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic test was employed as the primary instrument. The study utilized a qualitative descriptive method. The population comprised all Grade XI MIPA students from senior high schools in the Teupah Barat District. The sample included 40 students from SMA Negeri 1 Teupah Barat and SMA Negeri 2 Teupah Barat, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to process and interpret the students' responses. The results indicate that the Two-Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic test was effective in identifying students' conceptual understanding and in uncovering alternative conceptions through dominant incorrect answer choices that diverged from scientifically accurate concepts. The findings reveal that among the participants, 64% demonstrated conceptual understanding, 23% exhibited misconceptions, and 13% showed a lack of understanding regarding the topic of hydrocarbons. These results highlight the diagnostic tool's utility in pinpointing areas where conceptual reinforcement is necessary to enhance students’ comprehension in chemistry education.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an enrichment module on chemistry materials in class XI odd semesters that are in accordance with the principles of the kurikulum merdeka. Development is carried out using the Research and Development (RD) model from Borg and Gall which is simplified into eight stages, including needs analysis, design, expert validation, teacher feasibility test, and student response. The results of validation by subject matter experts showed a validity rate of 86% (very valid category), while validation by media experts reached 91.42%. The feasibility test by the teacher obtained a score of 92.35%, and the students' response showed an acceptance rate of 84.56% (the category strongly agreed). These findings show that the enrichment modules developed are not only feasible and valid in terms of content and appearance, but also effective in supporting independent learning and improving students' understanding of chemical concepts. Thus, this enrichment module has proven to be effective and applicable as additional teaching materials in chemistry learning based on the kurikulum merdeka. This module can facilitate students in understanding the material in a more in-depth and structured way, as well as encourage independent learning. In addition, this module can also function as a solution to the limitations of contextual and systematic teaching materials in the school environment. Therefore, the results of this research are expected to be a real contribution in efforts to improve the quality of education, especially in the development of learning media that are adaptive to curriculum changes.

Abstract

Students with good self-efficacy are generally able to overcome challenges in various aspects of life. This study aimed to measure students’ self-efficacy in learning mathematics in the Mathematics Education Department of Malikussaleh University during the 2024/2025 academic year. With technological support, PBL can be implemented more interactively and flexibly, enabling students to access learning resources, engage in online discussions, and develop problem-solving abilities independently. A qualitative research method was employed, with data collected through a questionnaire. The subjects of this study were students enrolled in the Mathematics Education Department at Malikussaleh University. The data analysis in this study was carried out through three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. A total of 41 students participated in the study. The results showed that 6 students (15%) had high self-efficacy, 31 students (75%) had moderate self-efficacy, and 4 students (10%) had low self-efficacy. The average self-efficacy score among students was 76.47%.  Based on these findings, students of the Mathematics Education Department at Malikussaleh University can generally be categorized as having a moderate level of self-efficacy. Analysis of the questionnaire data indicates that most students put significant effort into solving the problems assigned by lecturers, and some reported never procrastinating on tasks. While some students disagreed with completing tasks only at the deadline, others disagreed with the idea of never postponing tasks and stated that they preferred to work under deadline pressure.  Strengthening this psychological construct is crucial not only for deepening students' understanding of mathematical concepts but also for improving their preparedness and effectiveness as future mathematics teachers.

Abstract

The rapid development of the e-commerce industry in Indonesia, particularly Lazada, has changed consumer shopping patterns. In the world of e-commerce, brand image and brand reputation are key factors influencing consumer purchase decision. Increasing competition among e-commerce platforms requires companies to strengthen their brand image and reputation in order to attract consumers and increase loyalty. This study aims to analyze the influence of brand image and brand reputation on purchase decision on the Lazada platform in Pontianak City. This study uses a quantitative approach with an association method, where data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires to 100 respondents who had made purchases on Lazada. The analysis techniques used are multiple linear regression, validity and reliability tests, as well as classical assumption tests such as normality, linearity, and multicollinearity tests. The results of the F-test in this study indicate that brand image and brand reputation simultaneously have a significant influence on purchase decision on Lazada. The results of the t-test show that brand image and brand reputation have a positive and significant partial influence on purchase decision. This highlights the importance for companies to pay attention to and improve their brand image and reputation in creating a positive shopping experience for consumers. This study provides new insights into how brand image and brand reputation simultaneously influence purchase decision in the context of e-commerce in Indonesia, particularly on the Lazada platform, and can serve as a foundation for companies to formulate more effective marketing strategies in facing increasingly intense competition.

Abstract

The study aims to explore teachers’ attitudes and contributing factors in incorporating Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP) in English Foreign Language classrooms for young learners in the primary school level and to draw the implications and solutions toward CRP integration. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research involved two English language teachers as research participants from one of the public primary schools in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia. Data was collected through interviews and classroom observations, followed by thematic analysis to interpret the findings. The findings showed that the participants have different attitudes towards CRP. One of the participants believed that CRP can improve learners’ attention while the other was skeptical. The interviews indicated that both participants lacked knowledge of TEYL, were unfamiliar with the CRP approach, and had textbook reliance resulting in crucial challenges to implementing CRP in their teaching practices. Both participants found it challenging to teach young learners and had difficulty integrating learners’ local cultures into their teaching practices. The findings highlight the teachers’ failure to integrate CRP for young learners due to a lack of teachers’ competency in TEYL and properly equipped knowledge of teaching CRP skills to the Participants. Likewise, teacher development is urgent to improve English teachers’ knowledge of TEYL and their skills to teach CRP to young learners in EFL classrooms. Moreover, the contributing factors and the implications of teaching CRP are further discussed.
