Communication and Information Journal
Comit: Communication and Information Journal is a peer-reviewed national journal on communication, dakwah, broadcasting, education and Islamic studies managed by Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi Islam Institut Agama Islam Nasional (IAI-N) Laa Roiba Bogor in cooperation with Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah (MES) and Intelectual Association for Islamic Studies (IAFORIS) . This journal focused on communication, dakwah, broadcasting, education, and Islamic studies through the publication of articles, research reports, and book reviews. The Journal is published two times a year on April, October. The aim of the journal is to disseminate the communication, information, dakwah, broadcasting, and Islamic studies researches done by researchers. Specifically, the journal will deal with topics, including but not limited to: Broadcasting, Communication, Information, Dakwah & Islamic propagation, Islamic education, Islamic studies, Islamic education, and other related issues. <![CDATA[This research analyzes the impact of TikTok use on teenagers' mental well-being, explores effective marketing strategies, and identifies factors that contribute to viral content. The focus is on TikTok user behavior among UINSU Communication Studies students, emphasizing content preferences, optimal posting times, and general engagement. Quantitative survey methods were used to collect data from a representative sample of students. Findings show TikTok as an important phenomenon with great influence from influencers, although its impact on communication skills varies. Additionally, TikTok shows potential as a learning tool but requires integration with traditional learning methods to ensure content quality and ethical awareness in its use. This research provides important insights for developing communication strategies and educational approaches at UINSU.]]>

<![CDATA[Media sosial telah menjadi alat yang memungkinkan individu berinteraksi dengan mudah tanpa terikat waktu, jarak, lokasi, atau biaya tambahan. Penggunaan teknologi ini menjadi penting bagi masyarakat dan mempunyai dampak positif dan negatif terhadap perubahan budaya dan sosial.Pengaruhnya terlihat jelas pada perubahan norma, kebiasaan, dan sikap yang lambat laun terkikis oleh kemajuan media massa dan digantikan oleh pola perilaku baru.Terus berkembangnya teknologi, khususnya di bidang media sosial, menuntut masyarakat untuk berhati-hati agar tidak terjebak pada dampak negatifnya. Hasil penelitian ini dilakukan di sekitar desa Tuntungan II. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa dan warga desa Tuntungan II yang berjumlah 30 orang, berdasarkan data yang dikumpulkan melalui perangkat angket dengan menggunakan skala likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor 10 soal Survei Persepsi Mahasiswa dan Masyarakat adalah 90%, termasuk kriteria strong match.]]>

<![CDATA[Inclusive and equitable education for children with special needs (ABK) in Indonesia still faces various significant challenges. This writing analyzes the application of continuity editing techniques in the documentary video "Batas Tanpa Batas" which tells the story of Djulaiha Sukmana's struggle in establishing Yayasan Biruku, an institution that provides quality education for ABK who are often marginalized from the conventional education system. The role of the editor in this documentary is crucial, not only as a visual processor but also as an influential agent in shaping public perception and sparking discussions about the importance of inclusive education. The writer as an editor uses continuity editing techniques such as L-Cut, Cutaway, and Color Grading to create a cohesive and emotional narrative. The editing process also includes offline and online stages, which aim to optimize visuals and audio to strengthen the message conveyed. This documentary shows that the editor has a strategic role in managing the story flow and ensuring effective transitions between scenes, so that the message about the importance of inclusive education can be well conveyed to the audience. The purpose of this writing is to enhance understanding of the important role of editors in supporting advocacy for inclusive education for ABK through documentary media. Additionally, this effort aims to identify and evaluate effective methods in content presentation that can influence and change society's views on inclusive education.]]>

<![CDATA[Documentary films have evolved significantly and have a character based on their complex and profound narratives that present facts based on data. This research aims to explore the impact of the integration of documentary style between expository and observational on the role of scriptwriters in documentary production. This is based on the increasing production of documentary films in Indonesia across various channels on platforms like YouTube, one of which is Channel Watchdoc. Using a descriptive approach, data were collected through theories, perspectives, and the personal experiences of the researcher as a scriptwriter in documentary production. The results indicate that scriptwriters play a crucial role in creating the story and maintaining the narrative flow to appear natural and spontaneous. Additionally, scriptwriters ensure the consistency of the pre-planned focus, even with significant improvisations based on field occurrences. The conclusion of this research emphasizes that, despite the various challenges posed by combining expository and observational storytelling techniques, the presence of skilled scriptwriters is essential for maintaining the naturalness and consistency of a documentary film. This approach offers a new perspective for viewers, allowing them to directly perceive situations and conditions with the hope of providing benefits and inspiring action and change.]]>

<![CDATA[The development of technology continues to grow rapidly, with the presence of social media being one of the evidences of this technological advancement. The diversity of social media today also influences the types of content that can be presented on these platforms, one of which is video. In the video production process, a scriptwriter plays a crucial role. There are various types of videos, one of which is a feature video that covers a factual or real event. Producing a factual feature video can be achieved by applying reporting techniques to the scriptwriting process. Therefore, the role of the scriptwriter is very important, and the application of these reporting techniques is expected to assist in gathering the necessary facts and data to ensure that the resulting feature video is factual and truly reflects events occurring in society. The method used is a descriptive method, explaining based on the author's experience as a scriptwriter in creating feature videos. It is hoped that this writing can provide new insights into how to apply reporting techniques to feature video scriptwriting.]]>

<![CDATA[This article discussed the application of framing techniques during the video feature editing process, focusing on how framing influenced the presentation of the story to the audience. This study was motivated by the transformation of journalism in the digital era, where video features became one of the popular reporting formats. Video features allowed for an in-depth exploration of topics and provided broader context. Framing techniques were used to select and highlight certain aspects within the video, shaping audience perception and understanding. The video feature editing process involved several stages, including clip selection, emphasis on key aspects, exclusion of irrelevant elements, and the elaboration of additional information. This study employed a descriptive analytical method with a case study on the video feature “Kuliner Legendaris: Sukses Melintasi Dekade”. The analysis results showed that effective framing techniques could guide public opinion, build empathy, and encourage action from the audience. Video editors played a key role in applying framing techniques to ensure the story conveyed matched the narrative's purpose.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to determine Emotion Focused Coping in fanatic K-pop fans. The approach used in this research is qualitative research with a case study type. The subjects in this study amounted to 3 K-pop fans entering early adulthood. Data collection techniques using interview methods, data analysis techniques using Miles and Huberman. The data reliability techniques used are method triangulation and source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that they have fanatical behavior, the three subjects both said that K-pop has a big influence on them because K-pop is a comfortable place for the subject if the subject often feels stressed or tired in real life or from work or others, K-pop can make the subject happy again through songs and others.]]>

<![CDATA[Laju Kopi is a coffee shop centered in Yogyakarta and founded in 2018. They expanded at Solo in 2021. Laju Kopi Solo experienced a decline in sales because the company had not yet established an appropriate marketing strategy. This research aims to determine the strategy to increase product sales at Laju Kopi Solo using SWOT analysis. Research data collection used interview methods and distributed questionnaires to owners, employees, and consumers. This is to find out internal and external factors. After the value analysis of these factors, it can be identified that the Laju Kopi Solo is in quadrant I in the SWOT matrix. It shows that the Laju Kopi Solo is in a state of growth. Therefore, It can produce strategies that can increase product sales at Laju Kopi Solo.]]>

<![CDATA[Cultural communication through the exchange of traditional Pantun verses by Telangkai during Malay Deli weddings is an example of communication within the Malay Deli community during marriage ceremonies. Telangkai themselves are the elders (masters of ceremonies) of customs in the marriage process of the Malay Deli people. This research was conducted using a qualitative research approach with descriptive qualitative methods. According to Bogdan and Taylor, qualitative research methods include research procedures that can produce data in the form of spoken words, sentences, and photos but not in numerical form from observed people and behaviors. Based on research conducted on Telangkai members affiliated with the Association of Telangkai Custodians of Malay Customs (HITPAM), as well as in the Malay Cultural Cluster organization, and through interactions with the community involved in the Malay Deli traditional wedding process, it can be concluded that the communication performed by Telangkai is direct verbal communication.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was conducted at the Library of SLB Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan. The aim of this study was to identify the factors causing low literacy among deaf students and to explore the librarian's strategies in developing literacy beneficial for Deaf students at SLB Yayasan Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan. The research approach used in this study was descriptive qualitative. Based on the research findings, there are several factors contributing to the low literacy among deaf students at SLB Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan. One significant factor is the limited access to reading materials suitable for the students' needs. Deaf students often face challenges in accessing literacy resources that could support their learning, which can hinder their literacy development, considering the importance of access to reading materials appropriate for their comprehension level. The research also indicates that librarians at SLB Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan have implemented various effective strategies to enhance the literacy of deaf students. One successful strategy is collaboration between librarians and educators at the school. Librarians collaborate with teachers to integrate literacy into the curriculum and lesson plans, ensuring that literacy activities are not separated from the core subjects but become an integral part of students' educational experiences. This collaboration enables librarians to support teachers in providing relevant reading resources and supporting learning objectives. Thus, this conclusion underscores the important role of librarians in addressing factors contributing to the low literacy among deaf students with appropriate strategies. Collaborative efforts between librarians and educators are also a positive step in enhancing the literacy of deaf students at SLB Taman Pendidikan Islam Medan. This conclusion can serve as a basis for further improvements in literacy education for deaf students at the school.]]>
