Abstract

Waste management in urban areas is not only related to the availability of facilities and infrastructure but also to knowledge, behavior, community participation, and governance at the neighborhood level. Pasar Baru Urban Village, Karawaci District, Tangerang City, still faces challenges in the form of limited public understanding of waste segregation and waste reduction at the source, as well as suboptimal waste management governance at the neighborhood (RT/RW) level. This community service activity aims to improve community knowledge, skills, participation, and institutional capacity through the development of an Environmentally Smart Village. The activity employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving the community from the stages of problem identification, planning, implementation, to evaluation. Activities included observation and discussions with stakeholders, waste management education, waste segregation practices, organic and inorganic waste processing, greening activities, biopore construction, as well as strengthening environmental cadres and waste management institutions. The results showed an improvement in community understanding of waste types, the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and simple methods of waste processing. The community also gained practical experience in composting, producing eco-enzyme, utilizing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots, and managing inorganic waste through a Waste Bank. At the neighborhood level, waste segregation practices have begun to emerge, with a pilot project implemented in 12 neighborhood units (RTs).

Abstract

Corn is one of the leading agricultural commodities in Rawa Bangun Village, Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. However, the utilization of harvested corn is still limited to being sold as fresh produce, resulting in suboptimal economic value. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) organization in processing corn into corn nuggets as a value-added food product, while also providing education on product packaging and simple marketing strategies. The activity was conducted on July 8, 2026, at the Rawa Bangun Village Hall and involved 20 participants consisting of PKK members and village officials. The implementation methods included educational counseling, a hands-on demonstration of corn nugget production, presentations on product packaging and marketing, and interactive discussions. The evaluation was carried out through observations of participants' engagement and responses throughout the activity. The results indicated that the participants enthusiastically attended the training and gained a better understanding of corn product diversification. Several participants expressed their intention to prepare corn nuggets as an alternative food for their families, while others were interested in developing the product as a home-based business. This activity demonstrates that corn processing training has the potential to increase the added value of local agricultural commodities through community empowerment.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to revitalize the Waled Kota Village Library, Cirebon Regency, by transforming it into a more engaging digital storytelling-based interactive library for children, while also improving collection management and facilitating access to information for the local community. The problems encountered included poorly organized book collections that did not conform to the applicable classification system, a reading corner that was less attractive to visitors, and the absence of a digital library account to facilitate collection searches. The activity was implemented using a participatory approach consisting of several stages, namely preparation, observation, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and inauguration. The activities were conducted from August 3 to 22, 2026, and included cleaning and classifying books according to the applicable classification system, numbering and labeling 979 copies of books donated by the National Library of Indonesia, entering collection data into the Taman Pustaka website, rearranging books on the shelves, decorating the reading corner with origami crafts, adding facilities such as a fence and carpets, and inaugurating the library as the closing activity. Data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach by comparing the condition of the library before and after the activities and assessing the extent to which the planned targets were achieved. The results showed that all stages were successfully completed according to schedule, with an achievement rate of 100 percent. The book collection is now organized according to the classification system, making it easier to search through the digital catalog. The reading corner has also become more attractive, and the library facilities have been improved, supporting the development of an interactive digital storytelling-based library for children. Through this activity, it is expected that library visits, reading interest, and the literacy culture of the Waled Kota Village community will continue to increase sustainably.

This activity was carried out based on observations of the existing waste management conditions in the community and the need for facilities that could help reduce waste accumulation. The program included the construction of waste incinerators in six hamlets and the installation and demonstration of a Rocket Stove at Kemiri Market. The activities were conducted through coordination with the village government and local community, followed by the construction and installation of the facilities and demonstrations on how to use the equipment so that it could be properly understood and utilized. The results showed that the availability of incinerators in six hamlets and a Rocket Stove at Kemiri Market could serve as an alternative solution to help the community manage waste, particularly waste that is difficult to handle through conventional methods. In addition to providing facilities, the activity also increased community knowledge and understanding regarding the use of the equipment and the importance of implementing better waste management practices.

Abstract

The increasingly free and open trade and economic system requires Indonesian economic actors to make thorough preparations so that they will be able to compete with foreign competitors, not only in the domestic market but also in the global market. In the context of free trade, the Indonesian government has taken a firm stance by no longer relying on protectionist policies in the development of the business sector. Based on these conditions, an important question arises: is cooperative management capable of enabling cooperatives to compete in the free market? Furthermore, can cooperative management anticipate global competition characterized by a buyer's market? This study discusses the empowerment of village cooperatives in responding to the challenges of increasingly open economic competition and the need to strengthen cooperative management to improve competitiveness.

Abstract

The development of social media has transformed patterns of communication, making them increasingly fast, open, and interactive. On the one hand, this condition provides broad opportunities for people to express opinions, criticism, and information. On the other hand, the use of language in digital spaces can give rise to legal issues when statements contain insults, defamation, slander, threats, or other forms of communication that may violate legal provisions. These issues are not only related to legal aspects but also to how language is produced, understood, interpreted, and constructed within particular contexts. This chapter discusses the importance of legal language literacy and the use of forensic linguistics as approaches to improving people's ability to communicate wisely and responsibly on social media. The discussion covers the characteristics of language in digital communication, the relationship between language and legal issues, the basic principles of legal language, and the role of forensic linguistics in analyzing statements or texts that may have legal consequences. Legal language literacy is considered essential so that social media users can understand the boundaries between freedom of expression and communication that may potentially violate the law. Meanwhile, forensic linguistics can contribute through objective linguistic analysis of meaning, context, speaker intent, and the characteristics of a particular text or utterance. Thus, strengthening legal language literacy and understanding forensic linguistics is expected to foster a more critical, ethical, careful, and responsible digital communication culture while minimizing potential conflicts and legal issues arising from the use of language on social media.

Abstract

Public organizations require human resources with adaptive and collaborative capabilities to respond effectively to increasingly complex work demands. Human capital development requires not only the enhancement of knowledge and skills but also learning experiences that strengthen interpersonal competencies and collective organizational capacity. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen human capital and institutional capacity in a public organization through an experiential learning-based outbound program. The activity was conducted in December 2025 and involved employees of the BPS Office of Bulungan Regency. The program employed a participatory approach through individual and group activities designed to develop communication, teamwork, leadership, trust, coordination, problem-solving, and adaptability. Each activity was followed by debriefing and reflection sessions to help participants connect their experiences with workplace situations. Program evaluation was conducted descriptively using questionnaires, observation, and participant reflection. The results indicate that the experiential learning-based outbound activities provided relevant learning experiences for developing interpersonal competencies and encouraged participants to recognize the importance of communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving in achieving organizational goals. The activities also created opportunities for collective learning that may contribute to strengthening institutional capacity. However, long-term impacts on workplace behavior and organizational performance require follow-up evaluation to assess the sustainability and transfer of learning into the workplace.
