Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of investors' concern when they saw earnings from companies prepared by accounting managers who have self-interest tendencies. As a result, investors may be misled in companies' assessments. Based on this phenomenon, this study helps investors to get the relevant value of earnings by eliminating three items in the income statement so it becomes a value known as street earnings. Street earnings are values that are generally generated by securities analysts. This value is the result of recalculation of accounting earnings excluding non-recurring items, wherein in this study, the items are amortization, research and development expenses, and unusual/exceptional items. This research focuses on the relevance of these three values especially unusual/exceptional items as a novelty. This relevance is calculated by looking at the strength of relations between three variables partially to year-end stock prices based on the value of R square. Secondary data used from manufacturing companies in Indonesia was obtained by the OSIRIS database from the 2015 - 2020 period. As a result, none of the three variables has strong relations with stock prices, which means three variables are irrelevant and should exclude in the calculation of street earnings to make street earnings relevant. The limitation of this study is research and development expense does not refer to companies specific activities, so irrelevant results does not mean research activities are useless. From these limitations, further research is comparisons of the relevance between the disclosure of research and development activities and research and development expense

Abstract

Abrasion on the coast of Riau Province is becoming a serious problem that has not found an effective solution. The development of breakwaters and mangrove rehabilitation has not provided maximum benefits for the environment and society. The research was conducted in Mekong Village, West Tebingtinggi District, Meranti Islands Regency. The purpose of the study looked at how the model handled abrasion in the study area. Using a qualitative approach conducted interviews with the public, stakeholders and experts in the field of environment. Our results found there is a paradigm of handling abrasion that is wrong by making walls using both organic and plastic waste. This method has not shown effective results in withstanding ocean waves and preventing abrasion. However, in terms of environmental models handling abrasion with garbage deposits actually pollute the environment. To handle abrasion well we argue more modern ways are needed or apply the concept of ecological modernization. The concept integrates modern science and technology from industrial societies to repair damaged or threatened environments. Ecological modernization as well as being a sustainable development effort in the field of environment, especially coastal. The application of ecological modernization is challenged including the orientation of thinking that has not been in favor of modern concepts, softfkill limitations, capital, and stakeholder support. This portrait shows the need for stakeholder intervention and cohesiveness in supporting and implementing ecological modernization in handling abrasion to be more effective and efficient

Abstract

Moral education is a part that cannot be separated from religious education, because what is good according to morals is also good according to religion, and bad according to religious teachings is also bad for morals. Morals in Islamic life are not just a model or a lifestyle that a Muslim may abandon at any time. Morals are not clothes that can be worn and then removed whenever desired. However, morality is a functionalization of religion, meaning that diversity will be meaningless if it is not proven by morality. Strengthening moral education in today's modern era is very important to fortify generations from the negative influence of the development of science and technology, especially information technology which can all be accessed through smartphones. This study aims to formulate moral education to fortify generations from moral decline. This research is a library research, to build a concept or theory that becomes the basis of study in research. The data used in this study is qualitative data in the form of concepts, theories, and formulations that are relevant to the research made. The data analysis used is content analysis and descriptive analysis to analyze the culture of the Gayo community related to moral education. The results of the research related to strengthening moral education in the culture of the Gayo community, among others, through strengthening the value system of Gayo culture in society and through strengthening the application of Sumang and Kemali concepts in Gayo culture.
