Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the effect or not there was any effect of using Bamboo Dancing Cooperative Learning towards Student English Speaking Skill. The problem in this study referred to the learning strategy English speaking skills. The study was conducted at the MIPA 6 and MIPA 7 in senior high school. The population of the study was 71 student in the second semester of MIPA 6 and MIPA 7. The sample of this study was all of the 36 is MIPA 6, 22 female and 14 male students. The types of the data were quantitative. The data were obtained by using tell the recount text from the picture to test the speaking of students, and analyzed by using manual effect analysis with speaking table score, oral proficiency scoring categories. Furthermore based on statistical compulation t-test was found that the coefficient of  = 4,05 where the coefficient of = 1,994. It means that there significant effect of using bamboo dancing method toward students’ english speakig skill. It also indicated that there significant effect of using Bamboo Dancing Cooperative Strategy Towards Students English Speaking Skill in Senior High School 3 Jambi City in 2020-2021 Academic Year.Keywords: Speaking, Bamboo Dancing, Cooperative Learning Strategy

Abstract

Reading is a result of interaction between writer’s mind and the reader’s mind. Which in this process the reader tries to create the meanings that intended by the writer. In addition, the readers have discovered by find out what readers main idea of their reading. The purpose of this research is finding out whether the google doc is effective for an English essay exercise to improve students English Reading skill as they doing e-learning through school from home program. The objective of this research to find out the effectivity students in enhancing their English writing by conducting an essay exercise digitally through the google doc as an alternative e-learning. The research design in this research is quantitative. The research conducted Senior High School 3 Jambi City. The population of this research is eleventh grade of science IV class students. The data obtained through quantitative research with the test. Overall, after the google doc was implemented in the test, the result of the test is quite good, in the test result, all of each entire students dominates the entire middle score categorize which the average score is from 70. Moreover, the mean score results from the entire of all students score result is 68.8 which is means that the mean score is in good criteria category. In addition, it can be concluded that there is a significance change of students English Reading before and after implementing google doc as English essay exercise.Key Words: Reading Skill, E-learning, Essay Exercise, Google Doc.

Abstract

This research was done to analyze the grammatical error in writing descriptive text made by tenth grade students in SMA N 8 Kota Jambi Academic year 2018-2019. The method of the research was qualitative method. The sample of the research was tenth grade students of science at SMA N 8 Kota Jambi. Then to get sample of this research, the researcher used random sampling technique. The data was collected by using written test. The finding of the research showed that  tenth grade students of science often make grammatical error in their writing, the error are analyzed based on four types, there are Omission, Addition, Misformation and Misordering. After analyzing the data that got from 37 students, the researcher found out 147 total errors white decide to highest frequency and lowest frequency. The result showed that the highest frequency grammatical error made by students is Omission which 46,93% and the lowest frequency grammatical error made by students isaddition which is 6%. The cause of error in grammatical because learning a foreign language is not the same as learning the mother tongue, it is not the difficulty of the new forms of the language, but mainly by the specific conditions created by customs in native language.Keywords: Analysis, Grammatical Error, Writing, Descriptive Text.

Abstract

AbstractThe background of this descriptive qaulitative study was to determine the Teacher’s Roles. It also aimed to find out how teacher’s roles in motivating students in studying English. This research was conducted at Second Grade SMA N 1 Jambi. The subject of this research was an English Teachers and also students at Second Grade of SMA N 1 Jambi. To collect data, the writed employed and questionnaire and interview techniques. The interview data used structured interview. The result of this research indicated that were kinds of Teacher’s roles that applied by English Teacher.Comparising:board,textbook,picture,recording, audio-visual media,laptop, and internet. Meanwhile, the audio-visual use for record the interview itself as the media selected by English Teacher. Abstract

This study analyzed about extrinsic motivation student in SMA N 10 Kota Jambi. This study is aimed to know about the factor extrinsic motivation student in SMA N 10 Kota Jambi. After giving the questionnaire, the data are analyzed by using a descriptive qualitative research method. The usage of the qualitative is used to know about the extrinsic motivation student in SMA N 10 Kota Jambi. This study can be concluded from 92 students. From the results of questionnaire we know that the largest percentage is student who answered agree and the second largest is students who answered strongly agree, than disagree and strongly disagree. So we can know that extrinsic factors can greatly influence students’ motivation   in learning

Abstract

This research was included in quantitative research which aims to find out the problems and factors experienced by students so that it affects their difficulties in completing the thesis. The subjects of this study were 19 students of the 2018 English Department of Batanghari Jambi University who had completed their thesis. This research collected data through questionnaires distributed online using Google form. In this research, three main factors are identified that affecting undergraduate thesis writing. First, psychological factors which include self-esteem, anxiety, and motivation. Furthermore, the second factor is socio-cultural factors which include the social distance among each student and the social distance between students and supervisors. Lastly, linguistic factors which include domain error analysis and extent of error analysis. The results showed that psychology factors got a percentage of 40.36%, socio-cultural factors got a percentage of 29.66%, and linguistic factors got a percentage of 29.96%. Thus, it can be concluded that the most influencing factor in the difficulty of students completing the thesis is the psychological factor.

Abstract

This research was done to find the effect of using suggestopedia method on reading comprehension in descriptive text at tenth grade of SMA N 8 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2019/2020. The researcher used a quantitative research and experimental research design as the research methodology with random sampling. The objective of this research was to find out whether there was significant effect of using sugegstopedia method on reading comprehension in descriptive text at tenth grade of SMA N 8 Kota Jambi. The sample of this research was at tenth grade of SMA N 8 Kota Jambi. The instrument of this research was a reading test. This study involved 60 students, there was consist of 30 students of control class (X MIPA 4) and 30 students of experimental class (X MIPA 2) at tenth grade of SMA N 8 Kota Jambi academic year of 2019/2020 as the object of the study and divided into two classes. Reading comprehension in descriptive text is effect after treatment suggestopedia method which is proven with student’s score higher than before treatment. The average pre-test control class 38,6 and post-test control class 53,3. Average pre-test experimental class 46 and post-test experimental class 90,8. Suggestopedia method makes learning process more interesting. The value of t-test higher than the value of t-table (20,41>2,001) based on the finding above, it can be concluded that suggestopedia method has a significant effect of reading comprehension in descriptive text at tenth grade of SMA N 8 Kota Jambi.Key Words: Suggestopedia, Reading Comprehension, Descriptive Text.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students' perceptions of using the Google Meet application for learning English in class X SMA Negeri 3 Jambi City. Because we know, the covid-19 has hampered all activities outside the home, one of which school being carried out online. The research methodology in this study is qualitative research design whose analysis requires in-depth observation. The subjects in this study were students of class X MIPA 2 SMAN 3 Jambi City, was used purposive sampling totaling 6 students as participants consisting of two students from low scores, two students from medium scores and two students from high scores.. In collecting data, this research gave interviews in class. The results showed that class X students of SMA Negeri 3 Jambi City had network difficulties in learning English using the Google Meet application, however, students also found it easier to learn English using the Google Meet application because of the flexible time and being able to find their most comfortable place in language learning English. Google meet application can be implemented went the teacher wants to teach material, can share the screen with students to show the learning material. Sometimes the teacher also gives time for students to interact in the meeting room such as conversations, dramas and so on.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out whether, there is a significant effect of teaching using flashcard on students’ vocabulary at ninth grade of SMP N 6 Kota Jambi in academic year 2018/2019. The research specifically is to find out whether the flashcard effectively increases the students’ vocabulary (verb). The research method used in this study was a quali- experimental study. The samples were class 9E as experimental class and class 9C as control class taken from the ninth grade students of SMP N 6 Kota Jambi by using cluster sampling techniques. The experimental class was taught by using flashcards while the control class was taught without using flashcards. Both classes were given pre-test and post-test. Pre-test and post-test consisted of 25 essay questions. The collected data in this research were analyzed by using t-test. The result of data analysis showed of the t-test between control class and experimental class. The findings displayed that the value of t-test is 58.066/. for control class and 67.082 for experimental class and sig. (2 tailed) = . 000, whereas the value of t-table with the degree of freedom 35 ( df=36-1 ) and the level of the significance 0.05 are 1.689. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Hₒ) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. There was significant difference between students’ vocabulary achievement by using flashcards and without flashcards. Thus, it could be concluded that the teaching vocabulary using flashcards was effective on students’ vocabulary achievement (verb). It means that the effect of using flashcard on students’ vocabulary at ninth grade of SMP N 6 Jambi City in academic year 2018/2019 was accepted.Keywords: Vocabulary, Teaching Vocabulary, Flashcards.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to know whether there is effectiveness to use brainstorming technique in writing narrative text at the Eleventh Grade Students of Accounting in SMK N 1 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2017/2018. The method apply in conducting this research is quantitative. The population of the research is 160, by using brainstorming technique is gotten the sample 41 students in experimental class and 41 students without using brainstorming technique in control class. To collect the data in this research is using test for the both experimental and control class. From the comparison between experimental and control class is gotten there is a significant different result from writing narrative text by using brainstorming technique and without using brainstorming technique. From the score is gotten the comparison between t table and t test 4,8 > 0,95, it means Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted and Ho ( null hypothesis ) is rejected or that is true the using of brainstorming technique in writing narrative text is more effective than without using brainstorming technique.Keywords: Brainstorming technique, Narrative
