Abstract

Within higher education institutions, university libraries serve not only as information centers and learning resources but also as representations of academic values, intellectual culture, and institutional identity. However, in the digital era, libraries face challenges including declining student visits, shifts in information-seeking behavior toward digital platforms, and perceptions of libraries as rigid and less relevant to younger generations. These conditions highlight the need for adaptive and human-centered visual communication strategies to strengthen emotional engagement with users. This study employed a qualitative method through observation, interviews, and conceptual analysis combined with the Yuru-Chara mascot design framework, including message formulation, naming, visual development, and visibility strategies. The design process resulted in a mascot named Chilla, inspired by the characteristics of the chinchilla and developed using a futuristic anthropomorphic robotic approach. The mascot was implemented across various media to enhance visibility and support library branding.

Abstract

Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin (SMB) II Museum is a historical icon of Palembang City; however, the limited availability of tour guides, interactive media, and digital interaction has resulted in a suboptimal visitor experience. This study aims to design the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of a mobile museum companion application using the Design Thinking method, which consists of the Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test stages. The main focus of the design is to create an intuitive self-guided tour experience to help visitors access historical information more easily and interactively. This study produces a prototype application named SriWarna, which is evaluated using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). The prototype integrates local Palembang cultural elements into a modern digital interface. The evaluation results indicate that the proposed application design enhances visitor engagement and facilitates independent access to historical information. Nevertheless, the SriWarna application has the potential to be further refined in order to provide a more consistent and optimal user experience for all museum visitors.

Abstract

Online review datasets rarely provide explicit labels indicating review quality, limiting the application of supervised learning for assessing informativeness. This study proposes a heuristic pseudo-labeling framework that automatically generates review quality labels (High, Medium, Low) from unlabeled text by leveraging lexical richness metrics, language patterns, and rule-based spam indicators. The approach integrates comprehensive text preprocessing, TF-IDF representation, and machine learning classification using Naive Bayes, Logistic Regression, and Random Forest. Experiments on three heterogeneous datasets (Amazon product reviews, movie reviews, and Twitter posts) demonstrate that Random Forest achieves the best performance, confirming the advantage of ensemble learning in modeling complex textual patterns derived from pseudo-labels. The novelty of this work lies in transforming measurable textual characteristics into reliable supervisory signals without manual annotation. The proposed framework offers an interpretable and scalable solution for review quality assessment in Big Data environments and provides a methodological foundation for extending review analytics beyond sentiment polarity toward content quality evaluation.

Abstract

Product managers increasingly used Generative Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to support product prioritization decisions. However, the factors that shaped trust in these tools within prioritization contexts remained underexplored. This research study investigated how product managers developed trust in GenAI for prioritization through semi-structured interviews with nine participants from Indonesia, Sweden, and Estonia. The thematic analysis revealed four overarching themes related to trust in GenAI for product prioritization: conditional confidence in GenAI ability, trust-building with GenAI through verification practices, data privacy and transparency concerns, and ethical concerns in GenAI use. No participant fully trusted or fully abandoned GenAI, instead adopting a pattern of cautious engagement. The study highlighted the need for organizational governance, clear data policies, and training programs to support appropriate trust calibration in GenAI-assisted product prioritization.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in the context of game-based learning technologies using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The SLR process involved several stages, including the formulation of research questions, article searching, article selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and quality assessment. A total of 18 articles were identified and analyzed to examine the implementation of TAM, the external variables incorporated, and the relationships among variables within the model. The findings indicate that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness consistently serve as the core internal variables influencing the intention to use game-based learning technologies. Furthermore, most studies employed modified versions of TAM by integrating external variables aligned with the characteristics of educational games, such as enjoyment, social influence, self-efficacy, and motivation. The relationships among variables demonstrate consistency with TAM’s fundamental constructs, particularly perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. These results confirm that TAM is an appropriate and relevant model for analyzing the acceptance of game-based learning technologies in the field of education.

Abstract

Fire is a serious threat to the home environment because it has the potential to cause material losses and casualties if not detected early. This study aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based fire detection system using an ESP-32 microcontroller. The system utilizes a fire sensor as an input device to detect the presence of flames and send warning notifications to users via the Telegram application in real-time. The success of the system was evaluated based on three main parameters, namely sensor detection distance, notification delivery response time, and system power consumption efficiency. Test results show that the system is capable of detecting flames at an effective distance of 10–100 cm with an average notification response time of 2–3 seconds. In addition, the concept of green computing is applied through the selection of low-power devices and the activation of output components only in emergency conditions. Based on these results, this system can be used as an effective and energy-efficient early fire warning solution for the home environment.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) is adopted by design students by examining the theoretical framework used and the factors that influence the intention and behavior of its use. The study was conducted through a systematic literature review by searching scientific databases and relevant references. The results of the analysis show that models such as the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) are most frequently used, with a focus on perceived usefulness, ease of use, and performance expectations. However, in the context of design, the adoption of AIGC is also influenced by psychological factors, such as perceptions of risk and anxiety about AI, as well as ethical issues related to originality and creative integrity. These findings indicate that the acceptance of AIGC is not only a technical issue but also involves psychological considerations and creative values in the design learning process.

Abstract

Energy efficiency in modern housing has become a crucial challenge due to user negligence in turning off electrical appliances when not in use. Existing Smart Home automation systems are often constrained by communication latency issues and heavy reliance on manual remote control. This study aims to design and build an IoT-based smart room energy management system that implements hybrid control logic (automatic and manual) using the ESP32 microcontroller. The system integrates sensor fusion between ultrasonic sensors and light intensity sensors (LDR) for precise occupancy detection, as well as a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) algorithm for fan speed regulation adaptive to room temperature. Data communication is established using the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) protocol connected to a Node-RED dashboard as a real-time monitoring interface. Repeated measurement test results indicate that the system successfully eliminates energy waste with a 100% automatic logic success rate, where lights automatically deactivate when the room is unoccupied. Furthermore, the system demonstrates high responsiveness with an average control command transmission latency of 156.6 ms. The implementation of this system offers an effective solution for energy saving without compromising the thermal and visual comfort of the occupants.

Abstract

Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are highly susceptible to noise artifacts such as muscle activity, eye blinks, and power-line interference, which degrade signal quality and analysis accuracy. Digital filtering is therefore essential to preserve the EEG frequency band of interest (0.5–40 Hz) while suppressing unwanted components. This study presents a systematic comparison of Finite Impulse Response (FIR) and Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filters for EEG signal denoising. FIR filters were implemented using Hamming, Hann, and Blackman window methods, whereas IIR filters included Butterworth, Chebyshev type I, Chebyshev type II, and Elliptic designs. All filters were applied to the same EEG signal under identical conditions. Performance was evaluated using visual inspection and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) analysis, followed by pole–zero stability assessment of the best-performing filters. The results show that FIR filtering achieved a higher SNR improvement (11.0 dB) than IIR filtering (8.61 dB), indicating superior noise suppression and stability for EEG signal processing.

Abstract

This study presents the design and implementation of an integrated Internet of Things based weather monitoring and flood early warning system. The system simultaneously monitors temperature, humidity, rainfall intensity, and water level in real time using a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller integrated with DHT11, rain, and ultrasonic sensors. Experimental results show that the system successfully classifies environmental conditions, where temperatures below 25 °C and humidity levels above 80% indicate heavy rainfall, while rainfall sensor values range between 2000–3000 ADC units. Water-level testing demonstrates that the early warning buzzer is activated when the water level reaches a minimum threshold of 5 cm and remains active below 10 cm, indicating potential flood conditions. Sensor data are transmitted reliably in real time via the MQTT protocol and visualized on a monitoring dashboard without significant delay. These results confirm that the proposed system provides accurate environmental monitoring and effective early flood warning, offering a low-cost and practical solution for flood disaster preparedness.
