Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Aswaja (Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah) values in the daily life of the Trimulyo village community. Trimulyo is a predominantly Muslim village whose residents have long embraced Aswaja teachings as a foundation for both social and religious life. Employing a qualitative field research approach with a case study method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that Aswaja values are practiced in tangible ways across various aspects of community life. Socially, the community upholds the principles of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), solidarity, and interfaith as well as interethnic tolerance. Religiously, residents regularly perform congregational prayers and actively participate in religious assemblies such as yasinan and sholawatan, which reinforce a moderate understanding of Islam. This study contributes to the discourse on how moderate Islamic teachings can be contextualized within rural communities to foster social harmony and religious coexistence.

Abstract

Risk mitigation in mudharabah financing is a critical measure for Islamic microfinance institutions such as BMT Assyafi’iyah Berkah Nasional Kotagajah to maintain financial stability and reduce the risk of default. Risks such as moral hazard, information asymmetry, and limited member understanding of mudharabah contracts can significantly hinder financing operations. To address these challenges, the institution has implemented strategies including stringent screening of financing applicants by assessing business feasibility and financial history, conducting regular supervision, providing business mentoring, and educating members on the rights and obligations under mudharabah contracts. As a cooperative-based financial institution owned by its members, BMT Assyafi’iyah holds a significant responsibility to manage mudharabah financing in alignment with Islamic principles. The effectiveness of risk mitigation not only affects the operational sustainability of the institution but also the overall welfare of its members. This study aims to analyze the implementation of risk mitigation strategies in mudharabah financing at BMT Assyafi’iyah Berkah Nasional and evaluate their alignment with Veithzal Rivai’s risk mitigation principles. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a case study method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and internal document analysis to gain a deep and contextual understanding. The findings indicate that although the institution has implemented key mitigation strategies—such as strict selection processes and business assistance—their effectiveness is still hindered by limited human resources, inadequate monitoring technology, and low member literacy regarding Islamic contracts. The study recommends capacity building, enhancement of technology-based monitoring systems, and intensive education for members. These findings provide valuable insights for other Islamic microfinance institutions aiming to improve the sustainability and Sharia compliance of their financing operations.

Abstract

Radicalism is a significant threat to social stability in Indonesia, especially among Muslim youth. This research aims to explore the role of Islamic moderation in preventing the spread of extremist ideology. This study uses a qualitative approach, the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the framework of Preferred Reporting Items ¬for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), the study analyzed 100 studies from the Google Scholar database published between 2019-2024, with inclusion criteria covering the Muslim youth population aged 15-35 years. The results of the study show that Islamic moderation is effective in warding off radicalism through a multidimensional approach, including transformative education, digital media literacy, and strengthening the values of tolerance. The findings reveal that the implementation of Islamic moderation can build youth resilience against extremist propaganda, encourage comprehensive religious understanding, and create inclusive dialogue spaces. The conclusion of the study confirms that Islamic moderation is not just a theological approach, but a systematic strategy to form a tolerant and moderate young generation. This research makes theoretical and practical contributions to deradicalization efforts in Indonesia.

Abstract

The interpretation of the Qur'an remains a controversial issue among Muslims. The various methods of interpretation employed by scholars have led to differing opinions regarding the meanings and implications of Qur'anic verses. In this context, the hadith approach as a primary source for interpreting the Qur'an becomes crucial. Al-Bukhārī, as one of the prominent hadith scholars, possesses a unique method of using hadith as a source for Qur'anic interpretation. This research aims to analyze Al-Bukhārī's method in utilizing hadith as a source for interpreting the Qur'an and its implications for understanding the Qur'an. By employing a qualitative research method, this study analyzes the book of Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Bukhārī as a primary data source. The findings indicate that Al-Bukhārī uses hadith as a source for interpreting the Qur'an to clarify the meanings of its verses and to establish Islamic laws. The implications of this research suggest that the hadith approach in interpreting the Qur'an can aid in clarifying its meanings and establishing more accurate legal rulings.

Abstract

This study aims to explore perspectives on prayer (shalat) as a form of emotional therapy that can be integrated into Islamic education and counseling. Emotions are a crucial aspect of human life, influencing thought processes, behavior, and social relationships. When not properly managed, emotions can lead to psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression. In Islam, prayer is not merely a ritual act of worship but also serves as a spiritual tool that can help regulate emotions, calm the soul, and enhance mental well-being. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this paper outlines how the spiritual values embedded in prayer—such as mindfulness (khushu'), inner peace (tuma’ninah), and remembrance of God (dhikr)—have therapeutic effects on emotional stability. When performed regularly and with full awareness, prayer has been shown to reduce stress, strengthen self-control, and cultivate more peaceful and spiritually inclined individuals, both among students and counseling clients. The integration of prayer into the educational and counseling process in Islam offers a holistic approach that encompasses the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the individual in a unified and balanced way

Abstract

The concept of fair price in Islamic economics is a fundamental aspect that emphasizes the balance between economic profit and moral principles. In Islamic economics, fair prices are not only determined by market mechanisms, but also consider ethical values, social justice, and common welfare. This article uses the literature review method (Library Research) to analyze the concept of fair prices in various Islamic perspectives. The results of the study show that: 1) Historically, Fair Price has been applied since the time of the Prophet PBUH by rejecting the practice of monopoly, hoarding, and fraud, and emphasizing fairness in transactions. 2) Philosophically, this concept is rooted in the principles of maslahah (benefit) and adl (justice), which ensures that the price of an item reflects its fair value without harming one party. 3) In modern practice, this concept is implemented in sharia-based price regulations, halal trading systems, and Islamic economic policies that emphasize transparency and social welfare. The results of this study show that Fair Prices in Islamic economics remain relevant in building a fairer and more sustainable trading system

Abstract

This study aims to explore how religious moderation values are internalized, narrated, and transformed into real actions among Generation Z students in MA Syarifatul Ulum Ngawi. Given the unique characteristics of Gen-Z digitally native, socially dynamic, and information-critical conventional approaches are insufficient in building moderate religious attitudes. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The focus is to understand students' perceptions, experiences, and expressions related to religious moderation values and practices within school and digital contexts. The study finds that religious moderation becomes effective only when transformed from abstract values into personal narratives and participatory actions. Through storytelling, reflective dialogue, and active engagement in interfaith collaboration and social diversity projects, students are more likely to experience and embody the values of tolerance, justice, balance, and anti-violence in their daily lives. This study is context-specific to one Islamic senior high school and may not fully represent broader educational settings. However, it provides useful insights for developing value-based education frameworks tailored for Gen-Z characteristics. This study contributes to the discourse on religious moderation by emphasizing the integration of value internalization, narrative construction, and real-life action. It highlights the strategic role of schools in shaping moderate and tolerant identities in the digital age through experiential and media-based learning. Abstract

The Qur’an was revealed as a guide for all of humanity, rich in linguistic style and profound in meaning. It contains two dimensions of interpretation: the ẓāhir (apparent) meaning and the bāṭin (inner, deeper) meaning. In this context, ta’wil is closely related to reason (‘aql) and understanding (dirāyah), functioning as a mental and conceptual process to uncover the deepest meanings of the text. Ta’wil is not limited to linguistic analysis but involves a holistic reading of phenomena, events, and realities that are intertwined with the text. This makes the intellect, knowledge, and imagination of the interpreter essential in the interpretive process. This study aims to analyze Imam ash-Syaukânî’s interpretive method in his tafsir Fath al-Qadîr through a linguistic approach. The research focuses on selected Qur’anic verses, particularly from theological, legal, and linguistic aspects. It employs library research as its methodology, with a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings show that Fath al-Qadîr extensively applies rhetorical principles (balâghah), such as isti‘ārah, majāz, kināyah, tamthīl, and ḥadhf. In this case, the linguistic approach is highly effective for uncovering implicit meanings, though it must adhere to linguistic rules to avoid misinterpretation.

Abstract

This study traces the genealogy of wasatiyyah (Islamic moderation) from the classical to the contemporary era, analyzing the evolution of its meaning and application within the Islamic intellectual tradition. Employing a qualitative approach with a library research design, data was gathered through content analysis of works by prominent scholars and thinkers from various periods. Findings indicate that in the classical era, wasatiyyah was understood as an ethical-theological balance in creed and worship, reflected in the thoughts of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Taymiyyah. In the modern era, the concept transformed into a principle of social and intellectual reform and ijtihad (independent reasoning) in response to Muslim decline and the challenges of modernity, as represented by Muhammad Abduh and Rashid Rida. In the contemporary era, wasatiyyah has evolved into a pluralistic ideology rejecting extremism, emphasizing tolerance and social harmony, with Yusuf Al-Qaradawi and Nusantara Islam figures like Nurcholish Madjid and Abdurrahman Wahid as its exponents. This evolution confirms that wasatiyyah is an inherent adaptive mechanism within Islamic thought, enabling the religion to remain relevant and contribute constructively across diverse historical contexts. The study's implications highlight the historical legitimacy of wasatiyyah in promoting religious moderation today, and the importance of a multidimensional approach to its implementation.

Abstract

This study investigates the interplay between two varieties of Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) and the Lebanese colloquial dialect (Amiyah) in the lyrics of two songs by Lebanese singer Abeer Nehme: “Bi Saraha” and “Bala Ma Nhess”. Using a descriptive qualitative approach grounded in sociolinguistic theory, particularly the framework of diglossia, the research aims to uncover how these language varieties are blended and what sociocultural meanings they carry. Data were collected from official transcriptions of the song lyrics and analyzed linguistically and contextually. The findings reveal a consistent dominance of Amiyah throughout the lyrics, primarily used to express everyday emotions, familiarity, and personal experiences. In contrast, Fusha is inserted selectively to emphasize poetic, spiritual, or symbolic moments within the songs. This selective usage illustrates a deliberate artistic strategy rather than random code-switching, reflecting broader patterns of language use in Arab popular culture. The combination of these two varieties not only enriches the aesthetic quality of the music but also symbolizes the negotiation between personal identity and collective cultural heritage. Furthermore, the analysis suggests that Arabic popular music serves as a powerful medium for expressing linguistic hybridity and for navigating the tension between tradition and modernity. By situating these findings within the larger discourse of Arabic diglossia, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of how music becomes a living space for language practice, identity expression, and cultural reflection in contemporary Arab society.
