Abstract

This phenomenological study aims to analyse the root cause and impact of child marriage in Wonosobo. Social facts show that child marriage has multiple effects on children, including the right to access information and education, and girls’ reproductive health. Through a qualitative approach, this study generates the result: First, the demographics of Wonosobo as a poor area correlate with child marriage. The impact is severe and often leads to domestic violence, divorce, and the parenting style. Second, child marriage has the potential to violate the right to grow, the right to access educational information, and the right to reproductive health. Therefore, the process of socialization, education, and involvement of all stakeholders in Wonosobo are hugely needed. Even though the Wonosobo authorities have issued Regent Regulation Number 34 of 2019 concerning Strategies to tackle child marriage, it has not been effective in preventing the issue.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to identify and explore the role of culinary in the development of halal tourism. Two types of data are needed in this study, namely primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected through observation and interviews. Observations were carried out in several culinary centers. Interviews were conducted with five interviewees determined by purposive sampling. The data obtained were analyzed with content analysis and theme analysis to answer research questions. The results of this study show that Pekalongan City is feasible to become a halal tourism destination because the tourism component has met the criteria. The existence of culinary as a tourism amenity has contributed to halal tourism. Furthermore, the existing culinary can be a tourist attraction in itself. Both restaurants and small business actors provide halal guarantees on culinary, provided through certificates and seller guarantees. On the other hand, tourists have a good perception of Pekalongan City's cuisine, both of the variety of food, halal guarantees, and others. However, these conditions must be improved to realize the visit's satisfaction and loyalty. The existence of culinary tourism explicitly needs to be fostered to support halal tourism in Pekalongan City. For this reason, local government policies must issue regulations on culinary as a destination to support halal tourism related to halal assurance.

Abstract

This study investigates how religion (Islam) is understood, confessed, and practiced to interact positively with local cultures and the concept of the nation as a uniting factor of the people in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative method by reviewing relevant literature, conducting observation, and interviewing informants in various higher education institutions on Java Island. Data were taken from Islamic Religious Education (IRE) or Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) course, interview with students and lecturers, and the course’s accompanying programs administered by public and private universities in Java. The results of the study show that Islamic religiosity and appreciation of local cultures within the frame of Indonesia as a nation can go hand in hand. This mindset is achieved through a religious education course and its extra or co-curricular programs at universities in Indonesia, which aligns with the agenda of building the nation through being religious and maintaining harmony in diverse Indonesian society.

Abstract

Mutih fasting is a tradition for the bride before the wedding ceremony in Purwokerto, Pati village, Central Java. This study aimed to describe the implementation and meaning of mutih fasting undertaken by prospective brides and determine the value of mutih fasting spiritual education for the brides. This qualitative descriptive study was conducted from August to December 2021. Data were collected by using observation and interviews. The obtained data were analyzed using the phenomenology approach. The results showed that mutih fasting allowed them to get closer to Allah. For prospective brides, fasting was interpreted as an inner preparation by cleansing the heart and soul to achieve wedding success and blessings. Physically, it was interpreted as an effort to suppress appetite so that the bride looked more beautiful, and their aura radiated. Another finding showed that spiritual education was a process of self-purification (Takhalli) for the bride, adorning themselves with noble character (Tahalli), and feeling togetherness with Allah (Tajalli). After this tirakat, it was hoped that the bride had physical and spiritual readiness to enter domestic life, became a pious wife with a clean soul, behaved well and wisely, and received God's protection and help.

This study uses a qualitative research method through social semiotic analysis’ Halliday of the object of research on the Jedanulis (based on specific content YouTube) and content analysis of the audience's comments to determine the behavior of users using Netlytic. This is done to determine the audience’s response (as a social media user) to the communicator Husain Jafar Alhadar. The representation of wasathiyah da'wah concludes with a point, which is a source. Ustaz is an actor who conveys divine teachings and promotes a positive image of Islam through inclusive practice in the public sphere. What they get as a message becomes a mirror for the listener. Ustaz is the message itself. Whether faith is good or bad is determined mainly by them. That Ustaz, including Ulama, is not mocking the ummah but inviting the ummah.

Abstract

The teachings of Sufism play an essential role in balancing human life. Sufism can practically be the driving force to provide peace, coolness, and friendliness to create religious and social harmony. This study aims to explain the values of religious moderation education reflected in the concepts of wahdat al-Wujud and wahdat asy-Syuhud. This study used qualitative methodology with a literature approach. The primary sources are taken from two books: wahdat al-Wujud 'Inda Ibn Arabi by Abdul Karim Ibn Abdul Jalil and Ibn al-Faridh wa al-Hubb al-Ilahi by Muhammad Mustafa Hilmi, while the secondary ones are references taken from journals, books, and other writings that explain Islamic moderation, philosophical Sufism, and educational values. The results showed that the concept of monotheism carried by Ibn Arabi’s wahdat al-Wujud and Ibn al-Faridh’s wahdat asy-Syuhud, in the context of the issues of religious moderation, does not only discuss a single divinity, but it also offers five ideas: (1) equality of relationship between people, (2) human rights, (3) tolerance in religious plurality, (4) harmony in religious life, and (5) values of Islamic moderation Education.
