Abstract

The potential of fertilizer resources must be studied and developed for the welfare of farmers. Gayam Hamlet, Payaman Village, Solokuro District, Lamongan Regency has the potential for livestock waste in the form of cow dung which can be used as a material for making fermented organic fertilizer. The objectives of this community service activity are: 1. Increase farmers' knowledge about the benefits of compounds and microbes contained in livestock manure. 2. Improve farmers' skills in techniques for making organic fertilizer from livestock manure. 3. Reduce confusion among communities who are dependent on subsidized fertilizers from the government which has been limited by Permentan No. 10 of 2022. The extension method consists of lectures, discussions, and demonstrations of making organic fertilizer from livestock manure. The extension activity was carried out at the residence of the Head of the Gapoktan Payaman Village, Solokuro District, Lamongan Regency in August 2023. The results of the activity evaluation showed an increase in participants' understanding and skills in making organic fertilizer, as evident from active participation in discussions, successful practical demonstrations, and participant feedback. Because no formal pre-test and post-test were conducted, this increase was reported qualitatively.

Abstract

Purpose of this activity is to empower farmer groups through premium melon cultivation training based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology to increase agricultural productivity and efficiency. This training is carried out by integrating theory and practice of using IoT devices, such as humidity sensors, temperature and automatic irrigation control. The results of this program show an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in utilizing technology for environmental monitoring and plant nutrition management. The significant impacts of this program include increasing productivity by up to 30%, melon quality meeting premium market standards, and reducing the risk of crop failure through early detection of problems. Apart from that, this training succeeded in encouraging farmers' independence in operating IoT devices and strengthened the competitiveness of local agriculture. However, obstacles such as initial technology costs and limited internet infrastructure are challenges that need to be overcome. It is hoped that this program can become a technology-based empowerment model for other agricultural sectors, with the potential to expand access to national and international markets. Sustainability of the program requires continued training support, development of processed melon products, and IoT-based data analysis to optimize efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

Abstract

The development of rural economies requires strengthening the governance of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) to be accountable, transparent, and sustainable. Desa Sopuraa has established a BUMDes to manage local potential in the agricultural sector and opportunities related to nickel mining. However, the management capacity of the administrators in financial management is still limited, resulting in suboptimal business performance. This Community Service Program aims to enhance the capacity of BUMDes Sopuraa's administrators through a series of outreach, practical workshops, case study discussions, and technical assistance over six months. The program's materials cover basic financial management concepts and strategies, the preparation of annual budgets (RAB), cash bookkeeping, simple financial reporting, and the application of principles of accountability and transparency. The main outputs include a BUMDes financial strategy module, planning and reporting documents (annual RAB, bookkeeping formats, and quarterly/annual report templates), and a report on the activities carried out. The targeted impact includes improving financial literacy among administrators, implementing a simple but effective record-keeping system (both manual and digital), changing management practices towards data-driven decision-making, and increasing public trust through standardized reporting practices. This program is expected to serve as a model for structured support to strengthen other BUMDes with similar characteristics.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) focuses on strengthening the regulatory framework and management capacity of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as a strategic instrument for local economic development. The program aims to optimize BUMDes management in fostering a creative, tourism-based village in Pademawu Timur Village, Pamekasan Regency. The main challenges faced by the community partner include limited understanding among BUMDes managers and village stakeholders regarding the roles, governance mechanisms, and regulatory foundations of BUMDes in supporting social services and sustainable village economic development. The program employed a participatory and sustainable community development approach involving 28 participants, consisting of BUMDes managers, village officials, local MSME actors, and community representatives. The activities were implemented through three sequential stages: (1) socialization of BUMDes roles and regulatory frameworks; (2) educational sessions on BUMDes governance, collaborative governance, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem; and (3) training and mentoring on optimizing BUMDes management through the integration of village tourism potential and local MSMEs. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ awareness and understanding of BUMDes as a village economic institution oriented not only toward profit generation but also toward community empowerment, professional governance, and business sustainability. This program is expected to strengthen BUMDes institutional capacity, promote the development of competitive village-based tourism, and contribute to inclusive and sustainable improvements in community welfare and the local village economy.

Abstract

Reading the Qur’an accurately and fluently in accordance with the rules of tajwid and tartil is a fundamental competence that must be mastered by santri as part of Islamic education in Islamic boarding schools. However, preliminary observations at LEI (Ludfie Ekolistik Institute) of Pondok Pesantren Tambak Bening Surabaya revealed that a number of santri still experience difficulties in reading the Qur’an properly due to differences in religious educational backgrounds, limited intensive guidance, and the shortage of qualified tahsin instructors. This community service program aimed to improve the quality of santri’s Qur’anic reading through a Qur’an Reading Assistance Program in the form of tahsin tilawah activities. The program employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, implemented through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The tahsin activities were conducted through both group-based and individual mentoring using an applied tajwid method tailored to the santri’s reading abilities. The results indicate a significant improvement in santri’s Qur’anic reading skills, particularly in terms of makhārij al-ḥurūf, accuracy of tajwid, and reading fluency. Furthermore, the program enhanced santri’s motivation and spiritual awareness of the importance of proper Qur’anic recitation as an act of worship. This activity also represents the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and strengthens the synergy between universities and Islamic boarding schools in developing Qur’an-based Islamic education

Abstract

This community service program aims to empower women members of PKK by enhancing their understanding of fiqh al-haid based on the book Risalatul Haid in Gayam Hamlet, Payaman Village, Solokuro District, Lamongan Regency. This activity was motivated by the limited understanding among women regarding basic rulings on menstruation, which directly affects the validity of worship practices and family religious education, particularly in the post-pandemic period. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through the stages of to know, to understand, to plan, to action, and to reflection. The activities were conducted in the form of educational seminars, interactive lectures, and question-and-answer sessions involving PKK women as the main participants. The results indicated a high level of participant engagement and a significant improvement in understanding the distinctions between menstruation, postpartum bleeding, and abnormal bleeding, along with their religious implications. Furthermore, the program fostered greater awareness of women’s strategic role as primary educators within the family. Therefore, the Risalatul Haid seminar proved to be an effective educational medium for strengthening religious literacy and community-based women empowerment.
