Abstract

This community engagement program aimed to enhance the understanding of Arabic grammar (nahwu) among students (mahasantri) at the Ma’had Aly of Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School. Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the program empowered senior mahasantri as peer facilitators to guide small study groups through contextualized grammar lessons. The activities were conducted over a three-month period in the dormitory environment and included initial coordination, group formation, material development, intensive mentoring sessions, and periodic evaluations. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ mastery of nahwu, the development of a collaborative learning culture, and increased confidence in reading classical Arabic texts. The program successfully integrated pesantren values with participatory learning strategies. These outcomes suggest that this model can serve as a reference for similar Arabic learning initiatives in other Islamic boarding schools

Abstract

This community engagement program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of employees at PT Dwira Masagena through structured training on financial administration and inventory accounting. The company, located in the Makassar Industrial Area (KIMA), Jalan Kima Raya I Kav. B5, Makassar, has yet to implement an accounting system aligned with established theoretical standards. Financial records are currently based on estimations, and stock opname is still conducted manually. Sales performance is a key indicator of the company’s financial health, as it helps assess operational outcomes—whether the company is incurring losses or generating profits. However, reliable sales data can only be produced when financial transaction records, including inventory data, are processed accurately and in real time. This highlights the need for adequate knowledge and practical skills in inventory recording. The training was delivered using a combination of lectures, discussions, hands-on exercises, feedback sessions, and direct mentoring. The program was conducted on-site at PT Dwira Masagena. The objective was to provide relevant and applicable recommendations to company staff, tailored to their operational challenges. The intervention consisted of two main components: (1) financial recording practices encompassing five key types of financial statements and (2) training on the physical inventory accounting process. The program is expected to support improved employee performance and organizational efficiency.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has profoundly influenced family parenting styles, especially in managing the growing threats of digital-age juvenile delinquency, such as online gambling, sexting, and illegal loan practices. Despite this, many parents still face limitations in both knowledge and digital skills, making it difficult to guide and supervise their children's online activities effectively. This community engagement initiative was designed to enhance parental awareness and understanding of digital parenting. Conducted in Bometen Hamlet, Ngandong Village, Gantiwarno Subdistrict, Gunung Kidul Regency, the program applied a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. A total of 30 participants—16 parents and 14 adolescents—were actively involved in four stages: observation, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The evaluation outcomes revealed a significant improvement in both awareness and comprehension of digital risks. Adolescents demonstrated a 66% increase in awareness and a 41% improvement in understanding, while parents showed a 33% rise in awareness and a 61% gain in understanding. These findings highlight the effectiveness of participatory educational strategies in building stronger digital parenting capacity and fostering more adaptive and communicative family environments in the face of technological change.
