Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) is an important indicator in assessing the success of development in a region, encompassing aspects of health, education, and economic welfare. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence HDI in West Java Province in 2023 using a principal component approach, specifically Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and factor analysis with five factor components: labor force participation rate, life expectancy, open unemployment rate, poverty, and average years of schooling. West Java was chosen as the focus of this research because, despite showing a significant increase in HDI reaching 73.74% in 2023, it is still below that of DKI Jakarta, which has an HDI of 83.55%. The results show that the HDI in West Java has high data variability, is multivariately normally distributed, and the dependent data is sufficient for factor analysis. The formed components are two factors with a total variance of 82.71% across two factors, which can be explained by three factors: labor force participation rate, life expectancy, and poverty percentage. Two factors were identified: the first factor represents population conditions, including life expectancy, poverty percentage, and average years of schooling, while the second factor represents labor conditions, including labor force participation rate and open unemployment rate. However, the two formed factors were unable to fully capture all the factors influencing the Human Development Index in West Java in 2023. This study is expected to serve as a reference for local and central governments in formulating more equitable development policies, aiming to promote sustainable HDI improvement in West Java and other regions in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of workers' perceptions on hygiene and sanitation behavior in beauty salons in Merangin Regency, Jambi Province. The research design employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey technique. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, involving 23 workers from three salons: Riris Salon, Rumah Cantik, and Salon AA. The findings reveal that workers' knowledge of hygiene and sanitation remains low, negatively impacting the application of workplace health practices. Several behaviors were found to deviate from standards, such as inadequate sterilization of tools and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) usage. Factors influencing this include lack of training, awareness of risks, and work pressure. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for enhanced training and awareness to improve cleanliness and health standards in beauty salons.

Abstract

Fire is one of the disasters that can cause great losses, both in terms of material and social. This study aims to analyze the causes, impacts, and efforts to overcome fire disasters that occur in Horas Tax, Pematang Siantar. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection through interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The results showed that the fire at Pajak Horas was caused by an electrical short circuit that was exacerbated by a less than optimal market governance system, such as the lack of fire prevention facilities and infrastructure conditions that did not meet safety standards. The impacts include economic losses for traders, disruption of social activities, and damage to market infrastructure. Mitigation efforts involve cooperation between the local government, firefighters, and the community, including increased education on fire hazards, provision of fire extinguishers, and market reorganization. This study recommends the need to strengthen regulations and implement disaster risk management in traditional market areas to minimize similar events in the future.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital era, technology has significantly transformed the way we learn and teach, especially in the context of primary education. Technology-based education integrates information and communication technology (ICT) into the learning process, utilizing tools such as computers, the internet, mobile devices, and educational software that are increasingly accessible. The use of this technology not only replaces traditional learning aids but also creates opportunities for more innovative, interactive, and efficient teaching methods. Technology-based learning can enhance students' interest and achievement while developing essential digital skills for the current era. Additionally, the application of technology enables the creation of a more collaborative and in-depth learning environment, providing access to various learning resources and encouraging students to be more actively involved in the learning process. While traditional learning in primary schools is often limited to less interactive methods, the integration of technology can increase student engagement, improve their interest in learning, and ultimately enhance their academic achievement. This article aims to explore how technology can be integrated into lesson planning in primary education to improve students' interest and performance.

Abstract

This study evaluates the user experience of BPJS Kesehatan in Sei Agul Village, Medan City, focusing on benefits, challenges, and satisfaction levels with the services. BPJS Kesehatan, as a national health insurance program, aims to provide affordable healthcare access to the community. The findings reveal that many users benefit from BPJS, particularly in reducing healthcare costs. However, challenges such as long queues, complicated administrative processes, and difficulties in obtaining referrals to specialist doctors are commonly encountered. The average user satisfaction with the services is rated at 7/10, though disparities in service quality based on BPJS classes and issues with the claims process remain.This research employs a qualitative method through interviews and observations to explore user experiences. Recommendations include improving queue management systems, increasing medical staff, enhancing public information dissemination, strengthening digital technology, equalizing service quality, and expediting the referral process. These efforts are expected to enhance the overall user experience and satisfaction with BPJS Kesehatan services.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the visual meaning in Al Baik advertisements on Instagram featuring food and beverages. Using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, this research examines visual elements such as images, colors, text, and composition to understand the messages conveyed. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results show that the visual elements in Al Baik advertisements not only depict food products, but also convey cultural values such as national pride, warmth of tradition, and affordability. Instagram as a social media platform has proven effective in conveying these messages through attractive and meaningful visuals. This research reveals how modern advertising can serve as a promotional tool as well as a means of cultural communication that is relevant in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of digital marketing in marketing basreng snacks in the UIN Sumatera Utara Campus environment. Qualitative descriptive methods are used to document the marketing process from purchasing raw materials to distribution. With a capital of IDR 70,000.00, which includes raw materials of IDR 55,000.00 and plastic packaging of IDR 15,000.00, the business actor produces 17 packages of basreng weighing 250 grams per package. With a selling price of IDR 8,000.00 per package, the income reaches IDR 136,000.00, resulting in a net profit of IDR 66,000.00. Promotion is carried out through social media WhatsApp and Instagram. WhatsApp is used to reach direct contacts, while Instagram expands the reach of consumers through photo uploads and stories features. Transactions are carried out via Cash on Delivery (COD) in the campus environment, facilitating interaction with consumers. The results show that digital marketing increases sales at a low cost. Marketing diversification to e-commerce platforms is recommended to expand market reach and support business sustainability.

Abstract

The state guarantees citizens' healthcare services as regulated in the Constitution. The Indonesia Health Card (KIS) is a tangible form of the government’s effort to realize equitable and easily accessible healthcare quality for all Indonesians. However, the implications of this program have not been evenly distributed, as experienced by students in the social welfare department of Sumatera Utara University class of 2021. KIS is very beneficial for students who are aware of and can access it, but the program’s effectiveness is still hindered by uneven information distribution and complex administrative procedures. Recommendations are provided to enhance information dissemination and simplify administrative procedures to ensure the KIS program is more inclusive and easily accessible to all students.

Abstract

This research examines the meaning of architecture and ornaments in the Sultan Thaf Sinar Basarsyah Grand Mosque in Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Using a qualitative research method, this study analyzes the denotation, connotation, and mythical meanings of various architectural elements of the mosque such as building form, interior space, color, and ornaments such as windows, mihrab, doors, calligraphy, and drum. The results show that the design of this mosque combines elements of local culture from three tribes (Karo, Simalungun, and Malay) with typical Middle Eastern ornaments. The unique shape of the dome depicts the hijaiyah letters that form the lafaz Allah, while the choice of colors and ornaments reflects the effort to unite the diversity of local cultures. The mosque, which was built on an area of 16,307 square meters, not only functions as a place of worship but also as a center of Muslim activities that spread the values of brotherhood, love, unity and harmony.

Abstract

Islamic Economic studies are currently developing very rapidly, so sticking to the Qur'an and As-Sunnah is important. One of the main sources of Islamic law, after the Qur'an, is the As-Sunnah. The As-Sunnah plays an important role in establishing sharia-compliant economic principles in Islamic economics. As-Sunnah is one of the things that is often discussed and studied by experts in the development of Islamic studies aimed at developing knowledge about the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad. As-Sunnah serves as a guideline for carrying out economic transactions, including rules on justice, honesty, usury, gharar (uncertainty), and speculation which are prohibited in Islam. It also provides more detailed guidance on matters not specifically explained in the Qur'an, such as sales and purchase mechanisms, contracts, and various other transactions. In addition, the As-Sunnah establishes the idea of a fair distribution of wealth and protects the rights of parties involved in economic activity. Therefore, the As-Sunnah supports the development of an economic system that is moral, just and in accordance with Islamic religious principles. This research uses a library research method on the theory and concept of As-Sunnah in accordance with relevant verses and hadith. The results of the research show that As-Sunnah regulates all aspects of Islamic economic activities, ranging from production, consumption, banking.
