Abstract

The increasing integration of social media into organizational communication has significantly influenced the way Islamic organizations function, interact, and uphold their cultural values. Traditional hierarchies and communication patterns in Islamic institutions are being reshaped by digital engagement, transparency, and participatory decision-making. Social media platforms provide opportunities for improving collaboration, enhancing da’wah efforts, and fostering a more dynamic organizational culture, but they also introduce challenges related to information control, ethical considerations, and maintaining Islamic identity. Understanding the impact of social media on organizational culture within Islamic institutions is essential for developing strategies that balance digital engagement with core religious and ethical principles. A qualitative research design is employed, combining in-depth interviews, content analysis of organizational social media pages, and case studies of Islamic institutions. Findings reveal that social media enhances engagement, accelerates decision-making, and fosters inclusivity within Islamic organizations. However, challenges such as misinformation, ethical dilemmas, and shifts in authority structures must be addressed to maintain organizational cohesion and adherence to Islamic values. The study concludes that Islamic organizations must strategically integrate social media while safeguarding their cultural and ethical foundations. Recommendations for optimizing social media governance and digital leadership in Islamic organizations are discussed.

Abstract

Islamophobia, a growing concern worldwide, has been increasingly shaped by the spread of misinformation and negative stereotypes through social media platforms. In Indonesia, where Islam is the predominant religion, the rise of Islamophobic discourse on social media has created significant challenges for the Muslim community and interfaith relations. This study explores the role of social media in shaping public opinion about Islamophobia in Indonesia. The research investigates how social media platforms, particularly Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, contribute to the formation and dissemination of Islamophobic narratives, and how these narratives influence public perceptions of Islam and Muslims. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining content analysis of social media posts with surveys of Indonesian internet users to assess their awareness of Islamophobic content and its effects. The findings reveal that social media platforms play a critical role in amplifying Islamophobic discourse, often without sufficient counter-narratives or fact-checking. The study concludes that social media has a dual role, both as a platform for disseminating negative stereotypes and as a potential space for countering Islamophobia through education and positive engagement.

Abstract

The increasing reliance on social media has significantly changed how information is shared, including in the realm of Islamic preaching or da’wah. The millennial generation, who are digital natives, represents a key demographic for engaging in da’wah via social media platforms. This study explores the da’wah management strategies used by Islamic organizations and lecturers to attract and engage the millennial generation on social media. Using a qualitative research design, this study analyzes the strategies employed by Islamic organizations to effectively communicate religious messages through social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. The findings reveal that interactive content, visual storytelling, and the use of authenticity in messaging are the most effective strategies for engaging millennials. Content that resonates with the values, experiences, and interests of millennials significantly enhances their engagement with da’wah content. The study concludes that social media is a powerful tool for modern da’wah, especially for attracting and influencing the millennial generation. However, the research also highlights challenges such as the need for culturally relevant content and the ethical considerations of using digital platforms for religious outreach. The findings suggest that Islamic leaders should focus on strategic content creation that aligns with the values of younger audiences while maintaining authenticity in their message.

Abstract

This case study explores the implementation of multiculturalism at SMKS Dirgantara Putra Bangsa, a vocational school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Given Indonesia’s rich cultural diversity, educational institutions are vital in fostering intercultural understanding and promoting inclusive values, yet vocational schools often struggle to build genuine cross-cultural understanding among students from diverse backgrounds. Using a qualitative approach, data from interviews with the principal, vice principal of student affairs, and students from outside Java revealed the school employs various socio-cultural communication strategies to aid cultural adaptation and foster mutual respect. These strategies include integrating Javanese cultural practices into daily routines, consistently promoting character values like honesty and discipline, and incorporating cultural arts into the curriculum. The school also encourages student participation in cultural performances and implements the “5S” behavioral initiative—Smile, Greet, Greet Back, Politeness, and Courtesy—collectively nurturing a welcoming and respectful school environment. This study contributes to the growing literature on multicultural education in Southeast Asia and provides a practical model for other schools seeking to create culturally responsive and harmonious learning environments.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has created a new landscape in Islamic da'wah activities, especially in reaching Generation Z, known as digital natives. This generation has distinctive characteristics such as high dependence on the internet, preference for visual communication, multitasking, and quick response to concise and instant information. This requires a change in da'wah strategy from a traditional approach to a digital approach that is more interactive, contextual, and participatory. This study aims to analyse effective digital da'wah strategies and evaluate the main challenges in building generation Z's spiritual awareness. The method used was a scoping review based on Arksey and O'Malley's framework, which included literature searches from various scientific databases, article selection, data mapping, and systematic presentation of results. The results show that effective da'wah strategies include the use of a relaxed and popular communication style, the utilisation of attractive visual content that is in line with trends, educational and participatory message delivery, and a consistent and active presence on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. However, digital da'wah also faces serious challenges such as rampant misinformation, low digital literacy among preachers and audiences, Generation Z's spiritual identity crisis, and misuse of digital media for personal gain and popularity.

Abstract

The digital era has significantly transformed public speaking, especially in Islamic discourse, where the influence of body language plays a crucial role in engaging and persuading audiences. Body language, encompassing gestures, facial expressions, posture, and eye contact, can enhance the effectiveness of spoken words and create a stronger connection between the speaker and the audience. This research explores the role of body language in Islamic public speaking, focusing on its impact on influencing audiences within the context of digital platforms such as webinars, podcasts, and live-streamed sermons. Using a qualitative research design, this study analyzes interviews with experienced Islamic speakers, audience feedback, and case studies of prominent Islamic public speaking events conducted in digital spaces. The findings reveal that effective body language significantly improves audience engagement, comprehension, and emotional connection, even in virtual settings. Speakers who utilized expressive gestures and appropriate posture were more successful in delivering their messages and retaining the audience’s attention. The study concludes that body language remains a key tool for enhancing Islamic public speaking, even in the digital age, where it contributes to the effectiveness of communication and strengthens the delivery of religious messages. These findings offer insights into improving the quality of Islamic discourse on digital platforms.

Abstract

The rise of Generation Z as a distinct demographic group has posed new challenges and opportunities for public speaking, especially in the field of da’wah (Islamic preaching). As digital natives, Generation Z engages with content in ways that differ significantly from previous generations, making it essential for Muslim lecturers to adapt their public speaking strategies to connect effectively with this audience. This research explores the public speaking strategies used by Muslim lecturers to attract and engage Generation Z in da’wah. The study employs a qualitative research design, conducting interviews with Muslim lecturers who have successfully used digital platforms and innovative methods to deliver their messages to younger audiences. The findings reveal that interactive content, visual aids, relevant social media usage, and humor are among the most effective strategies for engaging Generation Z. Lecturers who incorporated personal stories and interactive sessions found higher levels of engagement and greater impact. The study concludes that for Muslim lecturers to effectively attract Generation Z, they must embrace modern communication tools while maintaining the integrity and relevance of Islamic teachings. Future research should explore the long-term impact of these strategies and how they affect the retention of Islamic values among Generation Z.

Abstract

In the digital era, political communication strategies have evolved to include social media, digital platforms, and online engagement, significantly affecting how political parties, particularly Islamic parties, reach and interact with voters. This study examines the political communication strategies employed by Islamic parties in the digital space, focusing on their use of social media, digital campaigns, and online engagement to connect with Muslim voters. The research aims to explore how Islamic political parties adapt their message and strategy to the changing landscape of digital media. A qualitative research design was used, combining interviews with political communication experts, survey data from voters, and content analysis of the digital campaigns of major Islamic political parties. The findings show that Islamic political parties leverage social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to spread their messages, enhance political participation, and increase voter engagement. However, challenges remain in ensuring authenticity and avoiding the risk of misrepresentation in the digital space. The study concludes that while Islamic parties are successfully adapting to the digital era, they must continue to innovate and ensure their messages resonate with younger, digitally-savvy voters. Further research is needed on the long-term effectiveness of digital strategies in Islamic political campaigns.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving political landscape, the influence of millennial voters is becoming increasingly significant, especially in predominantly Muslim countries where political communication plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion. Islamic political communication, which blends traditional religious values with modern political strategies, is an important tool in engaging millennial voters. This study examines the effectiveness of Islamic political communication in winning the hearts and minds of millennial voters in Indonesia, where the millennial demographic is a critical force in the political sphere. The study uses a qualitative research approach, conducting interviews with political communicators, social media influencers, and millennial voters, along with content analysis of political campaigns targeting this demographic. The findings indicate that Islamic political communication that is authentic, relatable, and values-driven resonates most with millennial voters. Moreover, the use of digital platforms, such as social media, is found to significantly enhance engagement and build trust with younger voters. The research concludes that Islamic political communication can be an effective strategy in gaining the support of millennial voters by aligning political messages with Islamic principles and youth-centered concerns. Future studies should further explore the impact of digital media on political communication and voter behavior among millennial Muslims.
