Abstract

The development of MSMEs and home industries in Dharmasraya Regency is quite diverse; one of them is the processing of robusta ground coffee into bottled coffee beverages, which is still rarely practiced and not yet widely recognized by the public. People are more familiar with and tend to consume sachet and powdered coffee products marketed under various brands from outside the region. The first issue encountered is related to production constraints, particularly the limited ability of business owners to operate coffee grinder machines. Currently, they still rely on a mini grinder, which restricts the volume of bottled coffee produced and hinders business growth. The use of espresso machines is also limited, as processing is still carried out using a semi-automatic coffee maker. The second urgent issue concerns packaging. The bottled coffee products still use simple plastic bottles with minimally informative sticker labels, whereas ideally, the packaging should be more appealing, modern, and informative. The third urgent issue is the absence of registered labels and trademarks for the bottled coffee products, which creates obstacles in marketing, as the products cannot yet reach wider or out-of-region market segments. The fourth issue relates to marketing practices, which are still conventional and have not fully utilized digital technology or social media platforms, including websites. Promotion is currently conducted only through WhatsApp statuses and group shares, which has proven ineffective. Considering the high market potential for bottled coffee beverages in Indonesia, there is an opportunity for Dharmasraya’s bottled robusta coffee to be marketed nationally through the use of website-based technology. These major challenges must be addressed to improve the performance of home-based coffee beverage industries. Therefore, assistance in the form of mentoring for bottled coffee production covering packaging, brand labeling, and web-based marketing is urgently needed to boost sales of Dharmasraya’s robusta bottled coffee products. The low sales volume is also a result of limited marketing, which is still confined to local stalls and shops and has not yet utilized website-based promotion. Web-based marketing is expected to expand entrepreneurs’ knowledge and enable them to maximize digital technology as a more effective promotional tool at national and even international levels, ultimately improving the sales performance of bottled coffee products in Dharmasraya.

Abstract

This study was motivated by problems found in Grade VIII of SMP N 1 Sasak Ranah Pasisia, West Pasaman Regency, namely the low self-confidence of students in learning. This could be seen during the teaching and learning process, where only a few students took the initiative to present their work in front of the class. Students’ low mathematics learning outcomes were also evident from their daily test scores. The research problems in this study were: (1) how students’ self-confidence develops during the learning process using the cooperative learning model of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type, and (2) whether students’ mathematics learning outcomes taught using the STAD cooperative learning model are better than those taught using conventional learning. This research employed a pre-experimental approach with the Static Group Comparison Design. The sample was determined randomly after conducting tests of normality, homogeneity, and equality of means on the population data. The sample consisted of students from class VIII.2 as the experimental group and class VIII.1 as the control group. Students’ self-confidence data were collected through a questionnaire, while learning outcomes were obtained from a test administered to students. Based on the results of the analysis, the percentage of students’ self-confidence was 76.18%, categorized as high. The mathematics learning outcome test was analyzed using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05, yielding tcount > ttable (2.96 > 1.67) and P-value = 0.008 < α = 0.05. Therefore, H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It can be concluded that students’ mathematics learning outcomes using the STAD cooperative learning model are better than those using conventional learning in Grade VIII of SMP N 1 Sasak Ranah Pasisia, West Pasaman Regency.

Abstract

Islam is a minority religion in Thailand. The Muslim population is concentrated in Southern Thailand. As a minority group, Muslims in Thailand especially in the southern region experience various social disparities. Education in Southern Thailand faces gaps and disparities that result in unequal development of Islamic education. This stands in contrast to Indonesia, where the majority of the population is Muslim. These historical and demographic differences have led to different approaches in how the Thai and Indonesian governments reconcile and develop Islamic education.

Abstract

One alternative learning tool that students can use to enhance their vocabulary mastery in reading is gamification. Yet, not much research has analyzed the implementation of gamification as a teaching media to help students in junior high school expand their vocabulary, particularly when it comes to reading. The primary goal of this research is to find out the differences related to vocabulary mastery improvement of 9th grade students at one junior high school in Indonesia, among those who use gamified learning tools “Genially, Wordwall, Blooket” and those who do not. A quasi-experimental design was employed in the study, with the researcher administering tests to collect data. Moreover, 62 students from one junior high school in Surabaya participated in the research: 31 students from 9B (the experimental class) and 31 students from 9D (the control class). According to the research findings, the significance value obtained is below 0.05, and the eta squared value is 0.406 at a modest level, indicating that the vocabulary learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups varied significantly. In conclusion, gamification substantially enhances students' reading vocabulary knowledge.

Abstract

The phenomenon of marriage postponement among career women is increasing in Indonesia, with 17.18% of women choosing to marry at age 25 and above (BPS, 2024). This study aims to describe the marriage decision-making process among career women based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach with four career women informants aged 21-28 years who have worked for at least one year. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Miles and Huberman's (1994) model. The findings reveal: (1) in terms of attitude toward behavior, career women position their careers as a foundation for independence before marriage with varying readiness based on career stages; (2) in terms of subjective norm, all informants face social expectations but are able to negotiate them through various strategies; (3) in terms of perceived behavioral control, mental and financial readiness are key factors with barriers including demanding work schedules. The study concludes that a paradigm shift has occurred where marriage is no longer viewed as the only path to happiness, but rather a life choice requiring careful consideration. Modern career women possess strong agency in determining marriage timing according to personal and professional conditions.

Abstract

The low mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Pariaman served as the background for this study. One method that can be used to improve students' problem-solving skills is the Buzz Group learning method. The research problem in this study is whether there is a significant effect of the Buzz Group method on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Pariaman in the 2022/2023 academic year. The purpose of this study is to determine the significant effect of the Buzz Group method on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Pariaman in the 2022/2023 academic year. The hypothesis of this study is "there is a significant effect of the Buzz Group method on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Pariaman in the 2022/2023 academic year." This study is a pre-experimental research with the research design of The Static Group Comparison Design: Randomized Control-Group Only Design. The population of this study includes all eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Pariaman in the 2022/2023 academic year. To obtain the sample, random sampling was used, followed by normality test, homogeneity test, and average equivalence test. The class chosen as the experimental class was VIII.4, while the control class was VIII.2. The instrument used was a problem-solving ability test, which was given to both sample classes. The data analysis technique used in this study was the t-test. Based on the test results, the average score of the problem-solving ability test for the experimental class students was 73.95, while the average score for the control class was 53.89. After conducting the hypothesis test using the t-test with α = 0.05 and a 95% confidence interval, the obtained t_calculated (3.38) > t_table (1.67), so the decision is to reject H0 and accept H1, which means there is a significant effect of the Buzz Group method on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Pariaman in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

The emergence of generative AI models such as ChatGPT has transformed translation practices, yet their capacity to handle creative and culturally embedded texts remains questionable. This study investigates ChatGPT’s translation quality in fashion slogans by integrating Molina and Albir’s (2002) translation technique taxonomy with Nababan et al.’s (2012) Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) framework. Employing a descriptive qualitative design complemented by quantitative scoring, the research analyzes 175 English–Indonesian fashion slogans produced by ChatGPT, focusing on three dimensions: accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The evaluation results reveal high accuracy (M = 2.71), indicating strong semantic retention, while acceptability (M = 2.54) and readability (M = 2.62) remain at moderate–high levels, suggesting occasional stylistic and pragmatic incongruence in Indonesian. Genre-based and brand-type analyses further indicate that global slogans tend to be more semantically precise yet less idiomatic compared to local ones. Although ChatGPT successfully preserves literal meaning, it frequently underperforms in maintaining rhetorical, emotional, and cultural resonance. The findings highlight ChatGPT’s potential as a supportive translation tool for marketing discourse but reaffirm the necessity of human post-editing to achieve persuasive equivalence. This research contributes to translation studies by offering an integrated analytical framework that bridges micro-level translation techniques with macro-level quality dimensions, expanding current understanding of AI-mediated translation performance in creative and commercial contexts.
