Abstract

The poetry writing skills of elementary school students remain low due to conventional teaching methods and the lack of contextual approach usage. This study aims to describe the implementation of poetry writing learning with the contextual approach type-modeling, compare poetry writing skills between students who received treatment and those who did not, and analyze the effect of the contextual approach type-modeling on the poetry writing skills of fifth-grade students at SD Inpres 4/82 Mattaropuli. This research employs a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The population consists of all 44 fifth-grade students, with a total sampling technique, comprising 22 students in the experimental group and 22 students in the control group. The research instruments include a learning outcome test, observation sheets, and documentation, while the data analysis techniques use descriptive and inferential statistics with SPSS version 24. The results show that the experimental group achieved an average posttest score of 78.64, higher than the control group, which obtained an average of 70.91, with a significance value of 0.029 (p < 0.05). This study concludes that the contextual approach type-modeling significantly affects students' poetry writing skills and can be considered an innovative and effective teaching strategy in elementary schools.

Abstract

The success of learning practices depends heavily on the extent to which educators understand the developmental characteristics of students at each age range. This study aims to analyze the stages of human development from childhood to adulthood, identify the competencies that need to be achieved at each stage, and explore their relevance to designing teaching and learning activities within an Islamic psychopedagogical framework. The method used is a literature review, which examines classical and contemporary developmental psychology literature and Islamic educational concepts. The findings indicate that early childhood requires a fun approach, elementary school children need concrete and collaborative experiences, adolescents need identity guidance and value reinforcement, and adults need meaningful and contextual learning. The Islamic perspective emphasizes that students have an innate nature that must be developed holistically, not limited to intellectual aspects alone. This study also identifies current issues such as promiscuity and early marriage as indications of failure to achieve developmental tasks that require values-based educational solutions. In conclusion, aligning learning strategies with developmental stages is key to achieving the goal of holistic education that prepares quality individuals in all dimensions of their lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe in depth the experiences of teachers at SMAN 3 Jambi City in implementing learning innovations based on the Merdeka Curriculum. The Merdeka Curriculum requires teachers to act as adaptive, creative facilitators who are capable of creating learner-centered teaching processes. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design through a case study at SMAN 3 Jambi City. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving economics teachers, the principal, and the vice-principal for curriculum. The findings show that teachers have implemented various forms of learning innovations, including differentiated learning and the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model through the Strengthening the Profile of Pancasila Students (P5) project. These innovations are supported by school facilities and professional development training for teachers. However, challenges were identified, such as the diverse abilities of students, limited time for project implementation, and suboptimal use of digital resources. This study emphasizes that teachers' innovations positively impact student engagement, critical thinking skills, collaboration, and creativity. The success of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum is highly influenced by teachers' adaptive competencies and sustained institutional support.

Abstract

Vocabulary plays a vital role in mastering a foreign language, as it directly influences students’ ability to communicate effectively. However, many students still face challenges in understanding, remembering, and using new vocabulary in meaningful contexts. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of the Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS) in improving students’ vocabulary mastery and to explore their experiences and perceptions during the learning process. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The participants were nine eighth-grade students from a junior high school in Karawang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through participant observation, interviews, and exploration tasks, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which included data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that students initially struggled to understand and retain new vocabulary due to unclear instruction, monotonous activities, and limited learning strategies. After implementing VSS, students showed increased motivation, autonomy, and critical thinking. They became more active in identifying new words, analyzing their meanings in context, and collaborating with peers during classroom discussions. The strategy also helped students develop analytical skills and promoted deeper vocabulary learning by connecting words to meaningful contexts. Overall, the implementation of VSS proved effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery, fostering learner independence, and creating a more interactive and engaging classroom environment. These findings suggest that VSS can serve as an alternative approach to traditional vocabulary instruction, offering both cognitive and affective benefits for English language learners.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenges in the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum, which requires teachers' readiness in cognitive, attitude, and behavioral aspects. The purpose of this study is to analyze teachers' understanding of the curriculum concept, practices in designing learning tools, implementation of formative and summative assessments, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors at SDN 08 Palembang. A qualitative descriptive research design was used with semi-structured interview instruments. The population consisted of seven teachers, who were selected as a total sample. Thematic data analysis techniques were applied through data familiarization, coding, theme determination, and interpretation. The results indicate that teachers have high enthusiasm and implement differentiated learning and creative assessments; however, technical understanding of ATP (Annual Teaching Plan) and assessment rubrics still varies. Supporting factors include the principal’s support, independent PMM training, and MGMP collaboration, while challenges involve limited internet access, administrative burdens, and training materials that are not contextual. The conclusion emphasizes the need for field mentoring, improvement of teachers' digital literacy, adaptation of training materials based on local context, and formal recognition to maintain motivation.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the rise of online gambling site promotions through social media, particularly by influencers, which has significantly impacted the increase in gambling practices among the public. The development of information technology not only brings positive impacts but also poses threats in the form of cybercrime, including online gambling promotions. One of the actual cases that is the focus of this study is the case of the promotion of an online gambling site by a woman who was then prosecuted at the Tanjung Karang District Court. The problem formulation in this research covers two main things: the form of accountability of the perpetrator of the crime of online gambling promotion, and the judge's considerations in determining criminal sanctions for the perpetrator. This study aims to analyze the legal basis and juridical considerations used by judges in issuing decisions against defendants who participated in the promotion of online gambling sites. The method used in this research is a normative and empirical juridical approach, with data collection through literature studies and direct interviews with relevant parties, such as investigators, prosecutors, and judges. The data obtained is analyzed qualitatively to describe aspects of criminal responsibility and judges' considerations in depth based on the decision of case Number: 967/Pid.Sus/2024/PN Tjk. The results of the study indicate that the defendant in this case was subject to sanctions based on Article 27 paragraph (2) Jo. Article 45 paragraph (3) of the ITE Law, Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Criminal Code for participating in promoting online gambling sites through an Instagram account. The judge considered various aspects, including evidence, the defendant's confession, and the social impact of the action. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison and a fine of Rp. 10,000,000.00. The judge's considerations in handing down the verdict included aggravating factors, such as not supporting government efforts to eradicate gambling, and mitigating factors, such as the defendant's cooperative attitude during the trial. This demonstrates the importance of the judge's role in balancing aspects of justice and legal certainty, especially in cases involving the misuse of digital media for unlawful purposes. The author recommends that efforts to prevent the promotion of online gambling be strengthened through monitoring digital platforms and educating the public, especially the younger generation, regarding the legal and social impacts of involvement in online gambling activities. In addition, law enforcement officers are expected to improve coordination and responsiveness to new modes that utilize social media for cybercrime.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum represents a breakthrough in Indonesia's education system, designed to create more flexible and student-centered learning. However, its implementation at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) level faces various challenges. This study aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at MI Arrahman Palembang. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal and two teachers, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the main challenges lie in the limitations of facilities and infrastructure, particularly reading spaces, information technology devices, and digital learning media, which hinder teachers' ability to utilize independent learning platforms. On the other hand, the Merdeka Curriculum provides opportunities for teachers to design more creative and contextual learning, as well as to develop a student-centered learning culture. The study concludes that the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum requires enhancing educators' capabilities, systemic support from all stakeholders, and specific strategies to address infrastructure limitations. The implications of these findings recommend the importance of continuous mentoring and optimization of available resources to realize more adaptive and meaningful education.
