Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using puzzle media on students' learning motivation in the Indonesian language subject in fourth grade at SD Negeri 138 Pekanbaru. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method through a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. The study sample consisted of 37 fourth grade C students selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a learning motivation questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the paired sample t-test using the SPPS 25 program. The results showed that the average student learning motivation increased from 47.46% in the pretest to 67.08% in the posttest after the puzzle media was implemented. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed with a pretest significance of 0.549 and a posttest significance of 0.251. The paired sample t-test results obtained a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, thus rejecting H₀ and accepting Hₐ. This suggests that puzzle media has a positive effect on student learning motivation in Indonesian. Thus, puzzle media significantly increases student motivation in Indonesian. This finding can be used as an alternative learning medium that can create a more active, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment, thereby increasing the learning motivation of elementary school students.

Abstract

The growth of TikTok Shop as a social commerce platform that integrates entertainment and shopping activities has significantly increased user interest. However, the growth in users has not been fully aligned with transaction levels, indicating the need to examine factors influencing consumer purchase decision. This study aims to analyze the effect of live streaming and content marketing on purchase decision with brand trust as a mediating variable among TikTok Shop users in Jakarta. This study employed a quantitative approach using purposive sampling involving 170 respondents aged 18-24 years who had made purchases through TikTok Shop. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0 through outer model, inner model, and hypothesis testing. The results show that live streaming, content marketing, and brand trust have a positive and significant effect on purchase decision. Furthermore, brand trust significantly mediates the effects of live streaming and content marketing on purchase decision. Among the studied variables, live streaming has the most dominant influence in enhancing brand trust, which subsequently encourages consumer purchase decision. These findings indicate that interactive live streaming strategies supported by credible and engaging content marketing can strengthen brand trust and increase purchase decision on TikTok Shop.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of social media usage intensity and locus of control on the entrepreneurial interest of Phase F students at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. The research employed a quantitative associative approach. The population consisted of 403 Grade XI Phase F students, while 201 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula and purposive random sampling technique. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, multiple linear regression, partial hypothesis testing (t-test), simultaneous hypothesis testing (F-test), and coefficient of determination (R²) using SPSS version 25. The findings indicate that social media usage intensity has a positive and significant effect on students’ entrepreneurial interest (t = 9.455; p < 0.05). Likewise, locus of control has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial interest (t = 5.882; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, both independent variables significantly influence entrepreneurial interest (F = 427.188; p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination indicates that 73.20% of the variance in entrepreneurial interest is explained by social media usage intensity and locus of control, while the remaining 26.80% is explained by other variables outside the scope of this study. These findings imply that productive use of social media and strengthening students' internal locus of control can enhance entrepreneurial interest among vocational high school students.

Abstract

Social media has become an important learning resource that supports English language learning, particularly vocabulary mastery. However, previous studies have mainly focused on specific social media platforms or students’ perceptions, resulting in limited comprehensive understanding of the overall influence of social media on English vocabulary learning. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the influence of social media on students’ English vocabulary mastery through a library research approach. This study employed a library research design by reviewing 22 relevant studies published between 2020 and 2026. The data were collected from journal articles accessed through Google Scholar and other academic databases. The selected studies were analyzed using qualitative content analysis by identifying recurring themes and synthesizing the findings. The results revealed that social media contributes positively to students’ English vocabulary mastery. Five major findings were identified. First, social media facilitates vocabulary acquisition by exposing students to authentic English-language content. Second, it improves students’ vocabulary mastery through engaging and contextualized learning experiences. Third, social media promotes autonomous vocabulary learning by encouraging self-directed learning strategies. Fourth, it increases students’ motivation and interest in learning English vocabulary through interactive and enjoyable content. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including distractions, exposure to informal language, misinformation, and concerns regarding content reliability. In conclusion, social media can serve as an effective supplementary learning tool for enhancing students’ English vocabulary mastery when used purposefully and critically.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is one of the most important skills in English language learning because it enables students to understand, interpret, and analyze information from written texts. However, many students still face difficulties in comprehending English texts due to limited vocabulary, low reading motivation, and ineffective learning strategies. Therefore, teachers need to implement appropriate teaching strategies to improve students’ reading comprehension. This study aims to investigate the use of short stories as a teaching strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension in English language learning. This research employed a library research method by analyzing and synthesizing findings from twenty-five previous studies published between 2021 and 2026. The selected studies were reviewed and categorized into five themes: reading comprehension improvement, reading motivation, vocabulary development, reading strategies, and students’ engagement in reading activities. The findings reveal that short stories significantly contribute to improving students’ reading comprehension by providing meaningful and contextualized language input. In addition, short stories increase students’ motivation to read, enrich vocabulary knowledge, facilitate the use of reading strategies, and encourage active participation during classroom learning activities. The analysis also indicates that students become more interested and engaged in reading lessons when short stories are used as instructional materials. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that short stories are an effective teaching strategy for improving students’ reading comprehension in English language learning. Therefore, English teachers are encouraged to integrate short stories into reading instruction to create more meaningful, enjoyable, and effective learning experiences.

Abstract

Reading habit is widely recognized as an important factor that contributes to students’ language development, particularly in improving writing skills among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. This study aims to investigate the influence of reading habits on students’ writing skills through a review of previous studies. The study employed a library research design by analyzing findings from 25 relevant studies related to reading habits and writing skills in EFL contexts. The data were collected from academic journals, research articles, and scholarly publications and were analyzed qualitatively through identification, comparison, interpretation, and synthesis of the findings. The results reveal that reading habit has a positive influence on students’ writing skills. Students who engage in regular reading activities tend to demonstrate better writing ability, richer vocabulary knowledge, stronger idea development, improved understanding of grammatical structures, and better organization of written texts. The findings also indicate that reading provides learners with valuable language input and knowledge that support the writing process. Furthermore, students with strong reading habits generally show greater confidence and competence in expressing their ideas through writing. Although the reviewed studies focus on different aspects of writing development, they consistently emphasize the significant role of reading in enhancing writing performance among EFL learners. Therefore, it can be concluded that fostering regular reading habits is an effective strategy for improving students’ writing skills and supporting their overall English language proficiency. The findings of this study may serve as a reference for teachers, students, and researchers in promoting reading as a means of developing writing competence.

Abstract

The Tahfidz Al-Qur'an program is one of the flagship programs developed in Islamic educational institutions to foster students' Qur'anic memorization skills while strengthening their religious character. However, the implementation of tahfidz programs often faces several challenges, including differences in students' memorization abilities, limited instructional time, and insufficient murajaah practices. One of the learning methods that can address these challenges is peer teaching. This study aims to describe the implementation of the peer teaching method in the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an program for eighth-grade students at MTs Ma'arif NU 1 Kedungbanteng. This research employed a qualitative approach using descriptive field research. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research participants consisted of tahfidz teachers and eighth-grade students involved in the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an program. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the implementation of peer teaching was carried out through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Students with better memorization abilities were appointed as peer tutors to assist their classmates in memorization submission, murajaah activities, and recitation correction. The implementation of peer teaching positively contributed to improving memorization quality, learning motivation, cooperation, responsibility, and students' self-confidence. Supporting factors included teacher support, the availability of peer tutors, a religious school environment, and the boarding school background of several students. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consisted of limited learning time, lack of murajaah at home, varying student abilities, and low confidence among some peer tutors.

Abstract

Population administration is a fundamental public service that plays a crucial role in ensuring citizens' civil rights. However, many older adults continue to face difficulties in obtaining population administration documents due to limited mobility, geographical barriers, inadequate transportation access, and socioeconomic constraints. To address these challenges, the Population and Civil Registration Office of Toba Regency has introduced the Jemput Bola service, a proactive outreach service designed to bring population administration services directly to vulnerable groups. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Jemput Bola service for processing population administration documents for older adults in Lumban Julu District, Toba Regency, and to identify the factors influencing its implementation. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Jemput Bola service has improved older adults' access to population administration services by delivering services directly at the village level, thereby reducing geographical barriers and mobility limitations. The implementation of the program fulfills the dimensions of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure as proposed by Edward III. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limited human resources, inadequate operational funding, insufficient facilities and infrastructure, and suboptimal interagency coordination. Therefore, strengthening institutional capacity, increasing budget allocation, and improving cross-sectoral coordination are essential to ensure that the Jemput Bola service is implemented more effectively, equitably, and sustainably.

Abstract

This study examines the portrayal of amnesia experienced by Leticia Ortiz in Fast & Furious (2009), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and Furious 7 (2015) by applying a psychological approach. The research addresses two main questions: (1) what are the causes of Leticia Ortiz’s amnesia in The Fast Saga?; and (2) what kind of treatment is applied to cure Leticia Ortiz in the film of Fast Saga? Employing a qualitative descriptive method using documentation techniques, with dialogues and scenes from the selected films serving as the primary data. The analysis is based on Hilgard’s psychological framework and Jenny Mackay’s theory of amnesia to interpret the character’s memory disorder and recovery process. The findings reveal that Leticia’s amnesia is represented through two principal causes, namely sudden strike on memory and a shocking condition. Furthermore, the films depict two major approaches to managing her condition, consisting of living with amnesia and hoping for a cure. The research concludes that The Fast Saga presents amnesia not merely as a medical condition but also as a psychological experience that influences identity, emotional adaptation, and interpersonal relationships. Through Leticia Ortiz’s character, the films illustrate that memory loss functions as both a psychological phenomenon and a narrative strategy that shapes character development and emotional conflict.

Abstract

Social forestry is intended to integrate forest conservation with community welfare, yet its local outcomes depend on meaningful participation and capable institutions. This study analyzes community empowerment through honey bee cultivation under the social forestry program in Nagari Simarasok, Baso District, Agam Regency. A descriptive qualitative design was employed with ten purposively selected informants representing the nagari government, the Nagari Forest Management Institution (LPHN), social forestry business group members, and surrounding communities. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing; validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that the program improved cultivation knowledge and skills, collective work, deliberative participation, and ecological awareness. An initial assistance of 35 bee hives developed into personal hive ownership among 12 group members, with approximately 18 liters of honey produced per 40-day harvest cycle, providing supplementary household income. Community involvement covered socialization, training, maintenance, forage planting, harvesting, packaging, marketing, and group decision-making. LPHN acted as facilitator, mentor, mediator, evaluator, and network builder. However, limited market reach, business legality, human-resource capacity, and weather variability constrained economic optimization. Strengthening cooperatives, legal assistance, product standardization, and digital marketing is therefore essential for sustainable empowerment.
