Abstract

This study aims to analyze community participation in the governance of Karya Bakti Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Wiwitan Timur Village. The research focuses on examining the forms and roles of community participation in supporting the governance of BUMDes as a village economic institution. To address this issue, the study adopts Cohen and Uphoff's theory of community participation and the concept of participatory governance in public organizational management as its theoretical framework. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving village government officials, BUMDes management, members of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), community leaders, and residents of Wiwitan Timur Village. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that community participation has occurred in the stages of decision-making, program implementation, as well as the monitoring and utilization of BUMDes outcomes. However, the level of participation varies across these stages. Community involvement is more prominent in activities that provide direct economic benefits, whereas participation in decision-making and monitoring processes remains relatively limited and requires further enhancement. The study concludes that the success of BUMDes governance is strongly influenced by community participation, management transparency, and the ability of BUMDes administrators to foster effective communication and public trust.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of stakeholders in empowering songket weaving artisan in Pandai Sikek Village, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the empowerment process. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observation, and documentation studies as data collection techniques. The analysis focuses on four main stakeholders: Pandai Sikek Village Government using role theory by Soekanto (2000), Departement of Manpower and Industry using Mahfud et al. (2015), Departemen of Cooperatives, SMEs and Trade using stakeholder theory by Bryson (2004), and songket artisans using empowerment theory by Ma’ani (2011). The results indicate that stakeholders have implemented various empowerment programs such as digital marketing training, business development assistance, marketing facilitation, and capacity building for artisans. However, implementation remains suboptimal due to limited continous assistence, low digital literacy among artisans, weak independent market acces, limited business capital, and artinsans dependence on capital owners. This study shows that collaboration among stakeholders is an essential factor in achieving sustainable artisan empowermant while preserving Minangkabau songket cultural heritage.

Abstract

Digital transformation has significantly changed the way people access Islamic information through various digital platforms. While this development has expanded access to Islamic learning resources, it has also introduced challenges related to the spread of unreliable information, highlighting the need to strengthen Islamic digital literacy. This community service program aimed to enhance participants' Islamic digital literacy, optimize the use of digital Islamic education platforms, and reinforce Islamic character in the responsible use of virtual spaces. The program employed an educational-participatory approach consisting of preparation, educational sessions, interactive discussions, hands-on practice with digital platforms, mentoring, and evaluation through observations, pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and reflective discussions. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The results demonstrated significant improvements in participants' ability to identify credible sources of Islamic information, apply the principle of tabayyun (information verification), and utilize digital Islamic education platforms more effectively. Furthermore, participants exhibited more selective, critical, and responsible attitudes toward receiving and disseminating religious information in digital environments. The program also strengthened the internalization of Islamic character values, including honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, proper conduct (adab), and digital media ethics. These findings suggest that digital Islamic education plays a strategic role in enhancing digital literacy while fostering adaptive character development without compromising Islamic values.

Abstract

Science education in elementary schools plays a strategic role in developing students' scientific thinking and science process skills. However, classroom practice often reveals suboptimal learning outcomes due to the predominance of teacher-centered instructional methods and the limited use of diverse learning media, making it difficult for students to visualize abstract scientific concepts. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of simple instructional media utilizing materials from the surrounding environment, such as recycled plastic bottles, mirrors, and plants, in improving students' science learning outcomes. The study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design. The participants consisted of 30 fifth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, classroom observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the use of simple instructional media significantly improved students' science learning outcomes. The mean score increased substantially from 64.87 on the pretest to 84.20 on the posttest. In addition to cognitive improvement, students demonstrated higher levels of participation and enthusiasm during observation activities and group discussions. The simple instructional media effectively helped students visualize abstract concepts and relate them to real-life phenomena. These findings suggest that simple instructional media provide an effective, efficient, and contextually relevant alternative for enhancing the quality of science instruction in elementary schools while creating more meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the development of ecotourism based on Community Based Tourism (CBT) at the Nyarai Ecotourism Area, managed under the coordination of the Tourism, Youth, and Sports Office of Padang Pariaman Regency, and to identify the internal and external constraints that hinder its development. The background of this study is rooted in the fact that although the Nyarai Ecotourism Area has received national and international recognition for its community-based conservation model, it still faces persistent problems in infrastructure, land status, fluctuating visitor numbers, and limited human resource capacity. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving informants from the Tourism Office, the village government, the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), local business actors, and visitors, selected through purposive sampling. Data validity was examined using source triangulation, and data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The evaluation was carried out using William N. Dunn's six evaluation criteria (effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and appropriateness), while the constraints were analyzed using Hansen and Mowen's constraint theory. The results show that the development of Nyarai Ecotourism has been effective, equitable, responsive, and appropriate in empowering the local community, but still faces structural challenges in efficiency and adequacy due to limited budget, facilities, and managerial capacity. The main internal constraints identified are human resources, facilities, and budget, particularly following the discontinuation of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) since 2024, while the external constraints consist of protected forest status and complex inter-agency licensing regulations. This study recommends that the local government formulate a long-term development roadmap, diversify funding sources, and strengthen human resource capacity to ensure the sustainability of community-based ecotourism development.

Abstract

Drama, as both a literary work and a medium of communication, contains various forms of language use that represent social interactions among characters. One of the important pragmatic aspects to be examined in drama is illocutionary speech acts, as utterances serve not only to convey information but also to express specific intentions and purposes. This study aims to describe the forms of illocutionary speech acts in the drama Lutung Kasarung by EKI Dance Company and to explore their implications for Indonesian language teaching at the senior high school level. The study adopts John R. Searle’s theory of illocutionary speech acts, which classifies illocutionary acts into five categories: assertives, directives, commissives, expressives, and declarations. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with the dialogues among the characters in Lutung Kasarung serving as the data source. Data were collected through documentation using observation and note-taking techniques, while data credibility was established through triangulation involving two lecturers in Indonesian Language and Literature Education and one senior high school Indonesian language teacher. The findings identified 62 instances of illocutionary speech acts, consisting of 20 directive acts, 20 assertive acts, 3 commissive acts, 15 expressive acts, and 4 declarative acts. Directive and assertive speech acts were found to be the most dominant types used in the dramatic dialogues. These findings have implications for Indonesian language instruction at the senior high school level, particularly in the development of teaching modules aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum, with a focus on listening, reading, and viewing drama texts. Therefore, Lutung Kasarung can serve as an alternative instructional resource for enhancing students' pragmatic competence, critical thinking skills, and literary appreciation.

Abstract

Physical-motor ability is a developmental aspect that requires stimulation from an early age. One initiative undertaken by TK Al Fitrah Jambi is the implementation of "cheerful gymnastics" (senam ceria) activities. This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and impact on physical-motor development, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors associated with these activities. A qualitative, descriptive research approach was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that the cheerful gymnastics activities were planned and executed systematically, comprising warm-up, core movement, and cool-down phases. These activities contributed positively to the children's physical-motor development, particularly regarding movement coordination, balance, agility, and self-confidence. Successful implementation was supported by teacher competence, available facilities and infrastructure, and the children's enthusiasm, while challenges included weather conditions, space limitations, and variations in the children's motor abilities. Thus, cheerful gymnastics serves as an effective alternative learning method for developing the physical-motor skills of early childhood learners.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the persistent pronunciation errors made by sixth-grade students of Kulliyatul Mu'allimin Al-Islamiyah (KMI) when reading Arabic texts, particularly in Dars al-Imla', which may alter the meanings of words and sentences. The study aims to describe the causes of these reading errors, examine their forms through phonemic analysis, and explore the role of phonemic knowledge in addressing such errors. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The credibility of the findings was ensured through data triangulation. The results indicate that the reading errors were primarily caused by inadequate mastery of makharij al-huruf (articulation points of Arabic letters), limited articulation practice, and passive instructional methods. Phonemic analysis classified the errors into three categories: phoneme substitution, distortion, and deletion. Furthermore, phonemic knowledge proved effective in improving students' pronunciation accuracy and reducing reading errors.

Abstract

Population administration service, including the issuance of Identity Cards (KTP), Family Cards (KK), birth certificates, and death certificates, is a form of public service that directly affects the daily needs of the community, with the sub-district (kelurahan) playing a strategic role as the government unit closest to the people. This study aims to analyze the quality of population administration services at Kelurahan Triwung, Probolinggo City, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research used a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the sub-district head, staff, population administration officers, and community members as key informants, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Service quality was assessed using the SERVQUAL theory developed by Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry (1988), covering five dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The results indicate that service quality at Kelurahan Triwung has generally run well across all five dimensions: adequate facilities and disability-friendly access (tangibles), procedures carried out in accordance with regulations (reliability), prompt responses and coordination with the Population and Civil Registration Office (responsiveness), certainty of procedures and document security (assurance), and friendly, non-discriminatory attitudes toward the community (empathy). However, limited public understanding of administrative requirements remains an obstacle affecting service speed and accuracy. Continuous efforts, such as public education, improved information systems, and staff capacity building, are needed to achieve more optimal, transparent, and accountable public service.
