Abstract

Flooding is a frequent environmental problem in RW 025, Semboro Village, Jember Regency, due to high rainfall and low soil absorption capacity. This community service activity aims to improve the community's ability to mitigate flooding through a hazard and vulnerability ratio-based approach, including the application of biopore technology and environmental restoration. The method used was descriptive qualitative, through field observation, interviews, documentation, and community mentoring. The activity included site surveys, the installation of 40 biopore infiltration holes, riverbank cleaning, vegetation planting, and activity evaluation. The results of the community service program demonstrated increased community understanding and participation in environmental management, a reduction in the potential for flooding at vulnerable points, and the formation of a follow-up team to maintain the sustainability of the flood mitigation program. This activity is expected to support efforts to reduce the risk of inundation on a sustainable basis at the village level.

Abstract

The development of human activities and technology has a significant impact on increasing carbon emissions, which contribute to climate change. As the next generation, adolescents play a strategic role in maintaining environmental sustainability, but they still face limitations in environmental legal literacy and understanding of their carbon footprint. This community service activity aims to improve ecological literacy, legal literacy, and numeracy skills of high school students through an interdisciplinary approach. The implementation method includes coordination, interactive training, carbon footprint calculation practice, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The results of the activity indicate an increase in students' understanding of environmental law, ability to calculate their carbon footprint, and ecological awareness. This program also encourages changes in student behavior towards an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Thus, this activity is effective in developing a young generation that is environmentally conscious, law-abiding, and has analytical skills in addressing climate change issues

Abstract

The Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) concept is one of the four basic operations in data management for web applications. However, there are still people, especially students and beginners in the field of information technology, who do not understand the CRUD workflow systematically, making it difficult for them to build web applications that are integrated with databases. This community service activity aims to improve participants' understanding and skills in applying CRUD logic using the PHP programming language and the Laravel framework. The implementation method was carried out through webinars to reinforce theoretical understanding and workshops for hands-on practice. The activity was conducted online and attended by 48 participants from universities. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests, post- tests, and feedback questionnaires. The results of the activity showed an increase in the average test score of participants from 64 to 85 percent, an average increase of 32.8%. Meanwhile, the satisfaction level results showed that 39.6% agreed and 47.9% strongly agreed. Thus, this activity was able to improve the basic understanding and skills of web application data management.

Abstract

Digital learning through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) has grown rapidly as an innovation in higher education; however, it still faces challenges such as low emotional engagement, limited learning motivation, and high dropout rates. This study aims to examine the application of psychology-based Design Thinking in fostering positive emotions and enhancing the quality of learning experiences in MOOCs. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed by analyzing the implementation of Design Thinking stages, namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and testing. Data were collected through observations, participant reflections, and analysis of emotional engagement and responses. The findings indicate that psychology-based Design Thinking improves emotional engagement, emotional regulation, and active learner participation. This approach is effective in creating more human-centered, inclusive, and sustainable MOOC learning environments by emphasizing emotional as well as cognitive aspects of learning.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted on October 5, 2025, at the orchid garden of the Puspa Pesona Farmer Group located in Silo District, Jember Regency. The partner group consists of 10 members who cultivate various orchid species, including Dendrobium, Vanda, and Cattleya, on a 2,000 m² area. The main problem faced by the farmers is the decline in production quality due to attacks from Plant Pest Organisms (PPO), such as mites (T. orchidarum and P. vandergooti), thrips (D. smithi), and the bacterium Erwinia carotovora, which causes stem and leaf rot. This activity aimed to improve production quality and farmers’ management capacity through training on the production of biopesticides made from Lantana camara leaves. This plant contains active compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins that function as natural insecticides and antibacterial agents. The training included theoretical sessions, demonstrations, fermentation, filtration, packaging, and application to infected orchids. The results indicated increased farmer knowledge and practical skills in environmentally friendly pest management, reduced pest attacks, and greater awareness of sustainable orchid cultivation practices.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology demands the strengthening of 21st-century skills, particularly computational thinking, including in non-formal education. This article describes the implementation and outcomes of a community service program involving game-based coding learning to enhance digital literacy and computational thinking skills among children of Indonesian migrant workers at Sanggar Belajar Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur. The program was conducted through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages using an interactive, gradual, and collaborative visual learning approach. Evaluation was carried out qualitatively through observation, interviews, and discussions. The results indicate increased learning motivation, active participation, and initial understanding of programming logic. The game-based approach helped reduce the perception that coding is difficult and abstract, while encouraging exploration and collaboration. Furthermore, the program positively contributed to psychosocial aspects, such as self-confidence and social interaction, indicating its potential for long-term benefits for the learners.
