Abstract

The learning activities carried out by students at school are intended to bring about positive change. However, in practice, these learning activities encounter several obstacles, one of which is the delay in engaging in learning activities. In service delivery activities, it is said to be running well as indicated by the students' active participation in completing assigned tasks. This research was conducted to reduce academic procrastination using the problem-based learning strategy. The research method used is a guidance and counseling action research with an experimental approach. The subjects of the study were 37 students from class X-F. Data collection techniques included observation and questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and comparatively. Based on the analysis results, a decrease in academic procrastination was found, with details showing 67% in the pre-cycle, 63% in cycle I, and 56% in cycle II. It was concluded that the problem-based learning strategy through classical guidance services can reduce academic procrastination

Abstract

Social media addiction is a behavior that always accesses social media while ignoring other activities so that many bad things can be detrimental. The increasing use of gadgets among students to adults indicates that this behavior is rampant. If this continues to increase, communication with other people or the surrounding environment will be directly disrupted. This research procedure uses classroom action research where the stages carried out are 4, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The social media addiction instrument used is adopted from the "Social Media Scale Addiction Scale-Student Form (SMAS-SF)" instrument. The results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with students experiencing a decrease in social media addiction from the high category to the medium and low categories. The average score in the pre-cycle was 93, cycle I was 73, and cycle II was 65. So it can be concluded that the implementation of group guidance services with the educational game technique "My Social Media Journey" is effective in reducing the level of social media addiction in class X-6 students of SMAN 3 Kediri.

Abstract

This classroom action research in guidance and counseling aims to improve students’ social relationship skills through group counseling services using the educational game technique Toples Rahasia Pertemanan (The Secret Friendship Jar). The study was conducted in class X-9 of SMA Negeri 3 Kediri over two cycles, which included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The pre-cycle results showed that most students had low levels of social relationship skills. In the post-test of Cycle I, 4 out of 6 students (66.7%) were in the medium category, while 2 students (33.3%) were still in the low category. After improving the strategy in Cycle II, the post-test results showed that all students (100%) reached the medium category. This means there was a 33.3% improvement, proving that group counseling using the Secret Friendship Jar game can create a fun and interactive atmosphere, increase student participation, and effectively improve their social relationship skills with peers.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of teacher speech acts on students' critical thinking skills in elementary schools during the learning process. Speech acts, as a means of verbal communication, have an important role in supporting students' cognitive development. The method used is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR), by collecting data from five accredited national journal articles. The results of the analysis show that the use of various types of speech acts locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary significantly affects students' understanding and engagement. Locutionary acts help students understand basic materials, while illocutionary and perlocutionary acts encourage active participation and create emotional responses. These findings emphasize the importance of teacher training that focuses on effective communication skills to improve the quality of education and prepare students to become critical thinkers.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance students’ enthusiasm and participation in classical guidance services through the implementation of game-based learning media in class X-X of SMAN 7 Kediri. Reserach method of this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consists of three stages: pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. In the pre-cycle stage, the guidance services were still delivered through an expository lecture method without any interactive supporting media, resulting in low student engagement. In Cycle I, the researcher implemented the game “3 Magic Words,” which focused on the use of the words “please,” “sorry,” and “thank you” to foster communication ethics. The results showed an increase in participation from 70.96% to 74.78%. In Cycle II, a new variation of the game was introduced, namely “Mutual Puzzle,” which emphasized teamwork, communication, and empathy. The results of Cycle II showed a significant increase to 82%, indicating the effectiveness of this approach. The findings of this study reveal that the use of game-based media can create a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment, encouraging active student engagement in classical guidance services.

Abstract

This study aims to improve time management skills among 11th-grade students at SMAN 1 Kediri through the use of game-based methods in classroom guidance services. The research employed Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) conducted in two cycles, involving 31 students from class XI-K as subjects. Data were collected using time management questionnaires and observations, and the data analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. In the first cycle, 32% of students were categorized as high, 55% as moderate, and 13% as low in time management skills. After service improvements in the second cycle, the percentage of students in the low category decreased to 0%, while the moderate category increased to 58%. These results indicate an improvement in students’ time management skills. Based on the findings of the research, it can be concluded that the game-based method has proven effective in creating an enjoyable guidance atmosphere and encouraging active student participation in better understanding and managing their time.

Abstract

Academic procrastination refers to the tendency to delay the completion of academic tasks, such as school assignments and other academic activities. Based on direct observation and the analysis of an academic procrastination questionnaire, this study found that six students from class X-B demonstrated a high level of academic procrastination, with an average score of 81.5. The research employed a Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) approach, aiming to reduce students’ academic procrastination through group counseling services using group discussion techniques. Data were analyzed using a descriptive comparative method. The results showed a significant reduction in academic procrastination levels among the subjects after participating in the counseling sessions. Before the intervention, the average score of the students was 81.5, which falls into the high category. After the first cycle of counseling, the average score decreased to 63.2, indicating a moderate level. Following the second cycle, the average score further dropped to 53.3, placing it in the low category. These findings suggest that group counseling services implemented through group discussion techniques are effective in reducing academic procrastination.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of children aged 9–10 years, specifically fourth and fifth grade elementary school students, through home visit observations. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collected through interviews, direct observation, and documentation during the home visits. The focus of the observation includes cognitive, social-emotional, and self-reliance aspects of child development within the family environment. The results show that most children are in the concrete operational stage, in line with Piaget's theory, and are beginning to develop logical thinking skills. Socially, the children are showing emerging empathy, although they still require guidance in managing emotions. Family environment, parenting style, and interaction with family members significantly influence their development. These findings highlight the importance of collaboration between teachers, counselors, and parents in supporting optimal child development. Child development encompasses social, emotional, and intellectual aspects that are interrelated and play a vital role in shaping individual character and adaptive abilities. For a 10-year-old child with cerebral palsy (CP), these developmental processes face complex challenges due to central nervous system impairments that affect motor functions and are often accompanied by cognitive and emotional disturbances. The aim of this paper is to examine the dynamics of social, emotional, and intellectual development in 10-year-old children with CP. The findings indicate that physical limitations and communication barriers hinder social interactions, increasing the risk of social isolation and rejection. Emotionally, children with CP are more vulnerable to anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem. Intellectually, children show varied abilities, with some being able to follow regular education, while others require specialized approaches based on the extent of their neurological impairment. Therefore, multidisciplinary interventions, family support, and inclusive learning environments are essential in optimizing the developmental potential of children with CP.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role and efforts of legal counselors at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Women and Child Protection (UPTD PPA) in West Java Province in handling cases of sexual harassment against adolescent girls aged 12–18. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The main informant was Ma’ruf, a legal counselor directly involved in assisting victims. The findings reveal that legal counselors not only provide legal assistance but also emotional support throughout the legal process. Major challenges include low legal literacy among victims and their families, societal stigma, and a lack of professional support personnel. The study recommends age-appropriate sexual education, increased legal awareness, and cross-sectoral collaboration as strategic measures to protect adolescent girls from sexual violence.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of financial limitations within a family on children's education, focusing on the dynamics of a family with four children at various educational stages and individual dependents. The constrained economic condition creates internal conflicts, where the children experience uncertainty in choosing between continuing their education or working to alleviate their parents' financial burden. Nevertheless, these limitations also bring positive aspects, such as strengthening character, responsibility, and family solidarity. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method to explore the family's experiences in facing these challenges. The results indicate the need for support from various parties to ensure the continuity of children's education and prevent school dropouts due to economic problems. Accordingly, this study offers strategic solution recommendations to assist underprivileged families in fulfilling their children's right to education.
