Abstract

This study examines the role of Balinese local wisdom in Lombok in preserving water resources by emphasizing spiritual, cultural, and practical approaches that address water scarcity while promoting sustainable resource management. This research aims to analyze why and how Hindu belief-based local wisdom practices contribute to the preservation of springs amid increasingly complex environmental challenges. A qualitative approach was adopted, applying Talcott Parsons’ structural functional theory and Koentjaraningrat’s theory of religion as analytical frameworks. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews with community members and religious leaders, and documentation conducted across Mataram City, West Lombok, and North Lombok. The findings indicate that Balinese Hindus perceive water as sacred and essential for sustaining life and prosperity. Belief systems embedded in rituals at Ulun Carik and Suranadi Temples cultivate ecological awareness and collective responsibility for protecting springs. Practical reliance on water resources also encourages careful utilization while maintaining sustainability for agricultural irrigation and food production. The study concludes that Balinese local wisdom in Lombok provides an effective model that integrates spiritual values with environmental stewardship. These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and local communities seeking to integrate indigenous knowledge with modern technologies in addressing water scarcity and strengthening climate resilience in multicultural regions. The study further emphasizes that culturally embedded environmental ethics can complement formal conservation policies, encourage long-term community participation, reinforce sustainable water governance, preserve ecological balance, enhance adaptive capacity, support inclusive resource management, and inspire collaborative strategies for protecting springs against future environmental pressures and climate uncertainties.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of Indonesia's National Health Insurance (JKN) program has transformed the healthcare sector, creating strategic challenges for secondary-level private hospitals in semi-rural areas. Following cooperation with BPJS Kesehatan in July 2025, RS Mitra Plumbon Patrol experienced a substantial increase in patient volume, with bed occupancy rates rising from 63.83% to 99.63% within four months. This growth exposed a misalignment between the hospital's existing business model and its evolving internal and external environment, requiring business model innovation to maintain competitive advantage and financial sustainability. This study aimed to analyze the existing business model, identify internal and external competitiveness factors, and formulate a recommended business model to strengthen organizational performance. A qualitative single embedded case study was conducted using an interpretivist approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten purposively selected informants and validated through source triangulation. Data analysis integrated the Business Model Canvas, PESTEL analysis, Porter's Five Forces, and SWOT matrix. The findings revealed that approximately 80–90% of patients were covered by BPJS. Key strengths included a trauma center, five-star accreditation, and organizational support, whereas weaknesses included BPJS revenue dependence, high employee turnover, and limited referral access. Four strategic priorities were identified: premium medical check-up services, business-to-business marketing expansion, strengthened BPJS claim documentation, and staff retention with patient loyalty programs. The proposed business model targets a 60% BPJS and 40% non-BPJS patient composition through diversified revenue streams, providing a replicable framework for improving competitiveness, financial resilience, operational efficiency, and sustainable healthcare service quality in resource-constrained private hospitals undergoing insurance-driven transformation.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media, particularly TikTok, has created new forms of digital communication where storytelling serves as a primary means of building emotional engagement and shaping audience perception. A compelling phenomenon is the emergence of content that elevates quiet, empty restaurants and transforms them into narratives rich with values of struggle, hope, and perseverance. The TikTok account @harbie16 consistently employs storytelling to convey narratives about less-popular restaurants, potentially reshaping their public image. This study aims to analyze the narrative elements used in @harbie16's TikTok content, understand the role of storytelling strategies in reconstructing the image of a quiet restaurant, and examine audience interpretations of the conveyed narrative. This research employed an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative approach and a case study method. The primary theoretical framework is Walter Fisher's Narrative Paradigm, specifically the concepts of narrative coherence and narrative fidelity. Data collection was conducted through digital observation of TikTok content, documentation, and analysis of audience responses in the form of comments and other digital interactions. The findings reveal that storytelling, built through elements of characters, conflict, storylines, and solutions, creates coherent and high-fidelity narratives that are well-received by the audience. The narratives play a significant role in shifting negative perceptions of quiet restaurants into a more positive image by forming new meanings based on empathy and shared social experience. This research contributes to the development of digital communication, storytelling, and narrative paradigm studies, and serves as a reference for business actors and content creators in building an image through social media.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among outsourcing employees at PT Kosami Sejahtera Utama, an outsourcing company supporting terminal operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Outsourced workers in Indonesia frequently face job insecurity and low job satisfaction, which negatively affects their willingness to engage in voluntary behaviors beyond formal duties behaviors essential for organizational effectiveness. Preliminary observations at PT Kosami Sejahtera Utama revealed indications of low OCB across multiple dimensions, including reluctance to help coworkers voluntarily and various disciplinary violations. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design, utilizing a population of 332 employees and a sample of 270 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measured on a six-point Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS version 29. The findings reveal that: (1) job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on OCB (CR=6.848, p<0.05); (2) job satisfaction significantly influences organizational commitment (CR=10.217, p<0.05); (3) work motivation significantly affects organizational commitment (CR=9.389, p<0.05); (4) work motivation significantly influences OCB (CR=6.690, p<0.05); and (5) organizational commitment significantly affects OCB (CR=3.657, p<0.05). These results confirm that enhancing job satisfaction, work motivation, and organizational commitment serves as an effective strategy for fostering employee OCB in outsourcing companies. The research contributes to the application of Social Exchange Theory in non-permanent employment contexts and offers practical implications for improving the sustainable quality of airport operational services through targeted human resource management policies.

Abstract

The high employee turnover rate at the CV XYZ camping ground indicates a human resource management problem that affects organizational stability, service quality, and operational effectiveness. This research aims to identify the factors contributing to employee turnover and formulate relevant employee retention strategies. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and literature reviews. The results reveal six main factors contributing to employee turnover: resistance to organizational change; leadership, communication, and supervision; integrity, discipline, and governance; work environment and organizational climate; psychological and cultural safety; and compensation and compensation fairness. The SWOT analysis indicates that the organization is positioned in the Grow and Build quadrant. This research develops nine employee retention strategies categorized into three levels of implementation: Corrective Strategies, Retention Strengthening Strategies, and Competitive Advantage Strategies. The study concludes that effective employee retention strategies should be implemented systematically through improvements in turnover-related factors, strengthening of the human resource management system, and optimization of competitive advantages. The findings are expected to provide practical guidance for CV XYZ in reducing sustainable employee turnover and serve as a reference for future research.

Abstract

The gap in employee fulfillment among functional and executive positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the results of preliminary research, indicates suboptimal levels of organizational support, motivation, and employee participation. This study analyzes the role of Affective Organizational Commitment (AOC) in mediating the effects of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and motivation on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among civil servants at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A survey of 341 civil servants selected through proportionate stratified random sampling was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The outer model evaluation results showed that all indicators were valid and reliable (loading factors ranging from 0.716 to 0.840; Average Variance Extracted values ranging from 0.564 to 0.597; and Cronbach’s Alpha and Composite Reliability values above 0.70). The bootstrapping results demonstrated that POS and motivation had positive and significant effects on AOC (path coefficients of 0.426 and 0.394, respectively) and OCB (path coefficients of 0.191 and 0.288, respectively). Furthermore, AOC had a positive and significant effect on OCB (path coefficient = 0.407), representing the largest direct effect in the model. AOC was also found to significantly mediate the effects of POS (0.173) and motivation (0.161) on OCB, resulting in the acceptance of all seven research hypotheses. The research model explained 58.5% of the variance in AOC and 64.3% of the variance in OCB. These findings confirm that AOC serves as a psychological mechanism that translates organizational support and work motivation into organizational citizenship behavior. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advised to simultaneously strengthen promotion fairness, employee welfare, and employees’ emotional attachment to the organization

Abstract

Maintaining employee engagement is particularly important in project-based construction, where productivity and organizational continuity depend on employees who can remain attentive and committed despite heavy workloads, strict deadlines, safety obligations, and operational complexity. This study investigates how empowering leadership, perceived organizational support, and job demands are related to work engagement, with work fatigue examined as a mediating mechanism. The respondents were employees of PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Infrastructure Division I assigned to MRT CP 203, NPEA Section 1, the Jakarta Sewerage Development Project (JSDP), and Huntara Senen in the Greater Jakarta area. The research applied a quantitative explanatory design with cross-sectional data from 182 purposively selected employees. Responses to 57 questionnaire items were analyzed in SmartPLS 4 using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), a reflective-reflective hierarchical component model, and the disjoint two-stage procedure. The estimates indicate that empowering leadership and perceived organizational support are positively associated with work engagement and negatively associated with work fatigue. Job demands show the opposite pattern, with a negative relationship to work engagement and a positive relationship to work fatigue. Work fatigue is also negatively related to engagement and carries complementary partial mediation for each of the three exogenous constructs. The results highlight the need for project organizations to develop empowering supervisors, provide credible organizational support, regulate excessive demands, and establish sufficient opportunities for employee recovery.

Abstract

Employee job performance is a critical factor in determining organizational sustainability, particularly in the food and beverage industry, where employees face high work demands, operational pressures, and dynamic business environments. Non-operational employees play an important role in supporting organizational effectiveness through administrative management, financial control, human resource management, and operational coordination. However, PT XYZ continues to face challenges related to employee performance achievement, work productivity, target completion, and cross-functional coordination. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effects of compensation, career development, and transformational leadership on job performance, with job satisfaction as an intervening variable among non-operational employees in the food and beverage industry. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The research sample consisted of 220 non-operational employees of PT XYZ selected through proportional sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results indicate that compensation, career development, and transformational leadership have positive and significant effects on job satisfaction and job performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on job performance and successfully mediates the relationships between compensation, career development, and transformational leadership and employee performance. These findings highlight that effective compensation systems, structured career development opportunities, and transformational leadership practices are essential strategies for improving employee satisfaction and performance. This research contributes to the human resource management literature by demonstrating the mediating role of job satisfaction in explaining how organizational factors enhance employee performance in the food and beverage industry.

Abstract

This research examines the effects of credit risk, liquidity risk, operational efficiency, and green banking on the profitability of state-owned (Badan Usaha Milik Negara or BUMN) and privately owned national (Badan Usaha Milik Swasta or BUMS) commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2024 period. Credit risk is measured using the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio, liquidity risk is measured using the Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR), operational efficiency is measured using the Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO) ratio, and green banking is measured based on the level of sustainable banking implementation, while profitability is proxied by the Net Interest Margin (NIM). This quantitative descriptive-verificative study uses secondary data obtained from annual reports and audited financial statements. The sample consists of 14 banks selected through purposive sampling during the 2020–2024 period, resulting in 70 panel observations analyzed using panel data regression with EViews 9. The Random Effects Model (REM) was selected as the most appropriate model based on the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests and fulfilled the requirements of classical assumption testing. The results show that NPL has a negative and significant effect on NIM, whereas LDR has a positive and significant effect. Conversely, BOPO and green banking have no significant effect on NIM. Simultaneously, the four independent variables do not have a significant effect on profitability, with an Adjusted R² value of only 6.84 percent. State-owned banks also outperformed privately owned banks across all six indicators examined. These findings indicate that effective credit risk and liquidity management remain key determinants of banking profitability, while the benefits of green banking are more likely to emerge over the long term. The findings provide valuable insights for bank management, regulators, and future researchers.

Abstract

The implementation of e-purchasing in construction procurement has been continuously promoted by the Indonesian government. However, Klungkung Regency remains the only regency in Bali Province that has not yet implemented e-purchasing for construction projects. In addition, empirical studies examining the effects of e-purchasing effectiveness and efficiency on construction procurement performance remain limited. This study analyzes the effects of e-purchasing effectiveness and efficiency on construction procurement performance, examines the effect of effectiveness on efficiency, investigates the mediating role of efficiency, and formulates implementation strategies. A mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design was employed. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 respondents experienced in implementing construction e-purchasing and analyzed using PLS-SEM. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with key informants. The results show that e-purchasing effectiveness positively and significantly affects construction procurement performance (?=0.518, t=5.453, p= 0.000). E-purchasing efficiency also has a positive and significant effect on construction procurement performance (?=0.473, t=5.210, p=0.000). Furthermore, effectiveness positively and significantly influences efficiency (?=0.559, t=5.757, p=0.000). Efficiency acts as a complementary partial mediator between effectiveness and construction procurement performance. The strategies for the implementation include expanding construction work items in the Electronic Catalog, increasing vendor participation through outreach, improving the e-purchasing system, and developing technical implementation guidelines. The findings indicate that improving e-purchasing effectiveness and efficiency enhances construction procurement performance by better meeting procurement needs, increasing vendor participation, simplifying procedures, reducing administrative costs, and accelerating procurement processes.
