Abstract

Earthquakes that cause tsunamis have occurred in Indonesia, one of which was in Aceh Province in 2004. Thisstudy aims to evaluate the suitability of tsunami evacuation direction signs in Kuta Raja District based on predetermined parameters. This research is a laboratory research, data collection techniques in the form of literature studies and field surveys with data analysis using Overlay techniques and value scores on GIS Software. Based on the results of the study, it is known that topographically the Kuta Raja District area is on average at an altitude of 0-3 masl, with the farthest distance from the coastline is about 2.5 Km. Land use in Kuta Raja District is dominated by settlements with an area coverage of about 55% of the total area. The results of the analysis showed that there were as many as 14 directional signs indicating the Tsunami disaster evacuation route throughout the Kuta Raja District area indicating the direction of the appropriate path for community evacuation, however, there were several evacuation route signs that were constrained by road widths that only ranged from 4-6 m and several road bodies that were damaged.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the spatial distribution of flood vulnerability levels in Jatiasih sub-district, Bekasi city. Data processing in determining flood-prone areas in Jatiasih district is carried out using the scoring method. The score  for each parameter is then summed using the field calculator in the ArcGIS 10.8 application. The parameters that used in the preparation of the flood hazard map are soil texture and type, slope, and land use. Furthermore, these parameters are overlaid (overlay) to obtain a map of flood-prone areas. the results of the analysis using the scoring method and the overlay method get the distribution of flood areas consisting of 3 classifications, namely a low flood vulnerability level of 192 ha or 8% of the sub-district area, a medium flood vulnerability level of 2111 ha or 83% of the sub-district area, and a high level of flood vulnerability cell height; area of 235 ha or 9% of the sub-district area. The points in flood areas that experience a high level of vulnerability include TNI AL housing, Kemang IFI Graha, IKIP Lecturer housing, Nasio housing, Griya Jatisari housing, Buana Risma Jatiluhur Complex, Asabri housing, Jatirasa housing, Pondok Mitra Lestari, Pondok Gede Permai housing, Nusapala housing, Jatisari camping ground, and Cahaya Kemang Permai housing.

Abstract

Graph theory is a branch of mathematical study that studies the relationship of a non-empty set which contains several elements called vertices and a list of paired elements called edges. Graph coloring is a technique of adding color to every point on a graph. The purpose of this study is to make it easier for map readers to distinguish each region on a map of East Kalimantan Province. This study implements graph coloring using the Welch-Powell algorithm method which colors the graph based on the highest degree of the end point. This study resulted in graph coloring on the East Kalimantan map obtaining a chromatic number X(G) = 3 in red for the Kutai Kartanegara, Paser, and Berau regions, then blue for the North Penajam Paser, Mahakam Ulu, Botang, and Samarinda regions, and the color green for West Kutai, East Kutai and Balikpapan.

Abstract

Ternate City in North Maluku, Indonesia, is experiencing rapid population growth and residential land development, with diverse topography and slopes that affect the expansion of built-up land. This study analyzed the development of built-up land in 1995 and 2025 based on slope levels using Landsat imagery and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data. Results showed that built-up land expanded rapidly in the 8-25% slope zone (increased by 96.8-372%) and the >25% zone (+206.5%), indicating development pressure that drove urbanization to topographically challenging areas. Green land conversion (903.78 ha less) also affected the environmental balance, while water bodies remained stable (67.58 ha). The dominance of steep slopes >40% (3,013.36 ha) is a major challenge to sustainable development. The findings emphasize the need for a spatial approach based on integrated geomorphological analysis, particularly landslide risk mitigation in steep slope zones, while meeting settlement needs. The research makes an important contribution to the development of sustainable development strategies in island cities characterized by complex topography and limited flat land while offering a spatial-temporal evaluation model that can be applied in similar areas. Policy implications of the research include strengthening spatial regulations, applying special construction techniques in slope areas, and protecting protected areas to maintain the balance of the natural environment.

Abstract

The structure of road networks plays a crucial role in supporting mobility, transportation efficiency, and urban spatial development. Pontianak City, as one of the growth centers in West Kalimantan, faces increasing challenges in managing its increasingly complex road network. This study aims to analyze the spatial structure of the urban road network in the central area of Pontianak using a spatial approach based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with QGIS software. The methods include identifying road network nodes, calculating total road length, and analyzing network density across two spatial units: 500 x 500meter grids and administrative boundaries at the kelurahan level. The analysis reveals that the distribution of the road network is uneven, with the highest concentration of road length and network nodes found in central areas such as Tengah and Akcaya Subdistricts. In contrast, the northern and eastern parts of the city exhibit sparser network structures. The grid-based approach provides greater spatial precision in capturing micro-scale variation, while the kelurahan units are relevant for policy and regional planning contexts. These findings form a basis for planning equitable, efficient, and data-driven road infrastructure development.

Abstract

Over a period of 10 years, there has been an increase in the population in Bandar Lampung City which has caused changes in land cover. As a result, surface temperatures have increased, especially in urban areas. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the distribution and effect of changes in land cover on surface temperatures. Remote sensing methods were used to calculate the spatial distribution of surface temperatures and to calculate changes in the area of vegetation index values, built-up land indexes, and humidity indexes in Bandar Lampung City in 2013 and 2023. The results showed an increase in surface temperature of 1.92℃. In 2013, the average temperature was 25℃ and increased in 2023 to 26.92℃. Compared to 2013, the temperature distribution area (26-28℃) has expanded by around 8673.39 Ha spread throughout Bandar Lampung City. Based on the results of the coefficient correlation analysis, it is known that the increase in surface temperature is significantly due to changes in land cover, especially by the building index (NDBI), with a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.545 for 2013 and 0.5133 for 2023.

Abstract

Karangasem Regency Regional Regulation Number 17 of 2012 concerning the RTRW of Karangasem Regency in 2012-2032 is a guide for the Regional Government in preparing the RTRW. This regulation also manages disaster-prone areas (KRB) following the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 11/2016. In 2017, the Geospatial Information Agency issued a map of the Gunung Agung KRB zone that can be used as a basis for evaluating residential zones that were regulated in the RTRW Regional Regulation. In addition, the conversion of land into a residential zone due to the population growth reached 1980 people/year. This was the reason the existing RTRW needed to be evaluated, given the potential for increased vulnerability due to the emergence of new settlements in the KRB zone. Based on the results of the RTRW evaluation, it was known that residential areas were covering an area of ±566,69 Ha in the KRB II zone and ±160,15 Ha in the KRB III zone which should be a conservation area. Moreover, population growth caused the land conversion of ±992 Ha, where there was an increase in the residential zone in KRB III by ±73,36 Ha which potentially increased the vulnerability of people living in the area.

Abstract

Ambon City is one of the cities with a relatively high flood disaster intensity. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause flooding and determine the vulnerability of flooding. The method is based on a geographic information system (GIS) by integrating secondary and primary data. Parameters analyzed include elevation, rainfall, slope, soil type, and land use. Study results show that the factors causing flooding in Ambon City include relatively high-intensity rains, land use patterns dominated by mixed gardens, slopes in lowland areas, low elevations, and soil types easily inundated with water. The flood hazard zone is divided into three classes, namely high, medium, and low hazard zones. Areas with high vulnerability are 2,251.3 ha (6.99%) of the total area of the study area. For this reason, the community and the Ambon City government need to pay attention to this area in dealing with flood disasters.
