Abstract

Floods are natural events that occur in areas with high river discharge. This research focuses on seasonal flooding events in Cenrana Sub-district triggered by high rainfall and flooding in the upper reaches of the Walannae River in Wajo Regency. Factors such as slope, elevation, soil type and land use are thought to influence flooding. In addition to physical aspects, vulnerability factors including physical, social and economic vulnerability also play a role in the impact of post-flood disasters. The research methodology used Weighted Overlay analysis based on vulnerability parameters through scoring method to assess the level of flood risk and qualitative descriptive analysis method for control measures in Cenrana Sub-district. The results showed a low flood risk area of 41.55 km2, a medium risk area of 76.65 km2, and a high risk area of 25.25 km2. Disaster control strategies must consider the risk classification of the affected area, where high-risk areas require building regulation policies along rivers and seas, integrated disaster insurance, and medium-risk areas that require irrigation and drainage systems, as well as disaster education for residents. This research provides valuable insights for local governments in formulating flood disaster management policies and serves as a reference for studying risk mapping in the future.

Abstract

The demand for land is a fundamental necessity that continues to change in line with population growth and regional development. As the center of activities, Yogyakarta City faces land limitations, leading to the expansion of residential areas into surrounding regions, including Ngemplak District, Sleman Regency. This study aims to analyze the suitability of residential land use in Ngemplak District with the Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR) for the Sleman Timur Area. The analysis compares the pattern of residential development with the designated zoning in the RDTR. The results indicate that the proportion of residential areas complying with the RDTR increased from 31.02% in 2014 to 31,81% in 2024, reflecting more effective spatial planning. However, 2.32% of residential areas in 2024 remain inconsistent with land-use designations. The implementation of the RDTR has proven effective in controlling residential development, yet further monitoring is required to ensure sustainable land use.

Abstract

Floods are hydrometeorological disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia and cause significant impacts on social, economic, and environmental aspects. The Lusi Sub-watershed, which is part of the Serang Watershed in Central Java Province, has a high level of flood susceptibility due to high rainfall intensity, flat topography, and extensive land-use changes. This study aims to analyze the level of flood hazard in the Lusi Sub-watershed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) weighting method and Geographic Information System (GIS). Nine parameters were used in the analysis, namely elevation, slope, curvature, Topographic Wetness Index (TWI), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Land Use and Land Cover (LULC), distance to river, rainfall, and soil type. The weighting results show that rainfall has the highest influence with a weight of 25.4%, followed by distance to river (22.3%) and land use (10.3%). Based on spatial analysis, areas with moderate to high flood susceptibility dominate approximately 77.5% of the total area of the Lusi Sub-watershed, consisting of very low (1.02%), low (9.79%), moderate (41.44%), high (36.06%), and very high (1.75%) categories. Highly susceptible zones are concentrated in the central to western parts of the sub-watershed, particularly in Grobogan Regency.

Abstract

Mining comprises activities from exploration to post-closure, including investigation, feasibility studies, construction, extraction, processing, transport, and sales. PT Satria Bahana Sarana operates within PT Bukit Asam Tbk’s concession, performing overburden removal and coal haulage from pit to temporary stockpiles and onward to livestock. Following a 2024 directive from PT Bukit Asam Tbk, all contractors working in the concession must include roof and floor measurement data in production reports. PT Satria Bahana Sarana has faced deviations between roof and floor survey results and actual production records, with field measurements often differing from truck counts and dump hopper volumes. This study quantitatively analyzed the alignment of roof and floor measurements with production data collected from April to September 2024. Numerical datasets were compared and correlations evaluated using Pearson and Spearman methods to measure relationships between survey measurements and production figures obtained from truck counts and dump hoppers. Results indicate a strong positive correlation, with a Pearson coefficient of 0.9137 and a Spearman coefficient of 0.943. These outcomes suggest roof and floor measurements can serve as a reliable basis for production planning and performance evaluation. Implementing rigorous data validation and reconciliation can reduce deviations, improve reporting accuracy, enhance operational efficiency, regulatory compliance

Abstract

Rapid urbanization in East Jakarta has generated significant environmental and socio-economic challenges, particularly due to land use transformation and increasing population density. This study aims to analyze the impacts of urbanization on environmental quality and community socio-economic conditions, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of government policies in mitigating its negative effects in 2005 and 2024. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a spatial approach and case study design focusing on Cakung, Jatinegara, and Duren Sawit Districts. Data were collected from secondary sources including air quality (PM10), water quality (BOD), land use, and population growth, complemented by interviews and field observations. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis, thematic socio-economic analysis, cross-tabulation, and SWOT analysis. The findings indicate that urbanization has significantly increased residential expansion and reduced green open spaces, leading to higher levels of air and water pollution. Socio-economically, employment has shifted toward informal and service-based sectors, with nominal income growth that remains disproportionate to rising living costs. Policy implementation remains suboptimal due to land constraints and the rapid pace of urban expansion.

Abstract

Sukalaksana hamlet in Cikahuripan  village, Lembang sub-district, West Bandung district has diverse regional potential and needs to be developed. However, the lack of availability of regional databases in Sukalaksana can hinder the development of the region's potential. Spatial-based region potential development aims to present spatial information that can be used in development planning. This study aims to map resource potential and analyze population pressure and capacity on land in Sukalaksana. The research method used is participatory mapping. The data is collected by using observation, interviews, documentation, and focus group discussions (FGD). Data analysis was carried out using spatial analysis techniques.  The results indicate that there are four potential that can be developed in Sukalaksana, namely the potential of human, economics, social, and land resources. Those potentials will be profitable and prosperous for the community if managed effectively and efficiently, as well as a sustainable pattern of cooperation in community life. Population pressure in Sukalaksana hamlet is 45.14, which is high category due to an imbalance in the number of population on the availability of agricultural land. The land capacity value in Sukalaksana is 0.02, which means that farmers are no longer able to carry out expansive and exploratory agricultural development.

Abstract

The equality of education for Children with Special Needs (CSN) remains constrained by the unequal number and spatial distribution of Special Education Schools (SLB) in Banten Province. This study aims to map the distribution of SLB by education level and analyze their spatial patterns and accessibility to road networks. A quantitative descriptive method with a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach was applied. Nearest Neighbor Analysis (NNA) was used to identify spatial distribution patterns, and Network Analysis assessed accessibility to main roads. Results indicate that SLB distribution in Banten is uneven, showing clustered patterns in Tangerang and Pandeglang, while Serang and Lebak have low accessibility. These findings highlight the importance of GIS-based spatial planning to support equitable and inclusive education development in Banten Province.

Abstract

Solid waste management is an important issue in many countries, including Indonesia and the Philippines. Both countries have experienced a significant increase in waste volume due to population growth and urbanization. One of the factors contributing to this issue is the low level of public awareness regarding waste segregation for better management. This study aims to compare government policies that serve as the primary benchmark in encouraging community involvement in solid waste management in Indonesia and the Philippines. The research method employed involves the collection of secondary data from journals and the reanalysis of data to obtain new insights. Several proposed solutions include the implementation of the 3R principles (reduce, reuse, recycle) and the development of a solid waste management system focused on waste segregation for reuse and value creation. The results indicate that community participation and a sustainable approach are key factors for successful solid waste management. Such participation motivates other community members to increase their awareness and concern regarding solid waste management.
