Abstract

Classical madrasahs play a crucial role in shaping modern Islamic education, particularly in curriculum design, teaching methodology, and student character development. This study aims to analyze the relevance of classical madrasah heritage to modern Islamic education using a qualitative approach through literature review and curriculum document analysis. Primary sources include turats manuscripts, classical Islamic education works, and madrasah curriculum documents, while secondary sources consist of SINTA-indexed academic articles, contemporary books, and related academic publications. The findings indicate that integrating classical values such as tarbiyah, ta’dib, and tazkiyah into modern curricula can achieve a balance between knowledge acquisition, moral development, and 21st-century skills. The modernization of Islamic education is effective when rooted in traditional values, supported by educational technology, and strengthened teacher competence, enabling students to face global challenges without losing their Islamic identity. The study implies that classical madrasahs provide a strategic foundation for developing an integrative education model that combines tradition and pedagogical innovation.

Abstract

Globalization has become one of the most influential forces shaping political and social policies in Indonesia, producing both opportunities and challenges for national sovereignty, governance, and cultural identity. This research aims to analyze how globalization influences Indonesia’s political and social policies and to examine the extent to which Indonesia demonstrates agency in responding to global pressures. Employing a qualitative research design, the study was conducted from June to August 2025 in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bandung, with data collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis. Findings reveal that globalization has strongly influenced political reforms such as decentralization, democratization, and human rights policies, while also shaping social policies in education, cultural preservation, and social welfare. At the same time, Indonesia demonstrates a dual and hybrid approach, selectively adopting global norms while maintaining national priorities and local identity. Globalization has also generated paradoxical effects, fostering openness and innovation while simultaneously stimulating cultural resistance, social inequality, and identity reassertion. The study concludes that Indonesia exemplifies adaptive globalization, negotiating global pressures with local values and strategic interests. This research contributes theoretically by integrating political and social perspectives in the globalization discourse and practically by providing insights for policymakers to design inclusive, culturally sensitive, and context-responsive policies.

Abstract

Background: The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (the Code), adopted by the World Health Assembly in 1981, remains a cornerstone in protecting breastfeeding from inappropriate commercial influence. Purpos of study: This study aims to evaluate the combined use of case study and policy analysis methods in enhancing midwifery students’ understanding of the Code. Methods: This qualitative study applied a dual-method approach case study and policy analysis to enhance student understanding of the Code within the context of Indonesia. Case reports of Code violations were documented by midwifery students through field assignments, while a policy analysis component utilized lecture materials, government regulations (PP 33/2012; Ministry of Health regulation 39/2013), and WHO/UNICEF guidance. Results: Findings demonstrate that combining case-based learning with structured policy analysis significantly improved students’ ability to identify Code breaches, link them to specific articles, and recommend appropriate reporting and advocacy measures. This approach not only strengthened academic learning but also fostered professional advocacy skills. Conclusion: The study concludes that integrating case study and policy analysis into midwifery curricula can be an effective pedagogical model to prepare health professionals as protectors of breastfeeding rights in line with international and national commitments.

Abstract

This study explores the development of Batik Village Culture as a unique urban tourist destination in Jakarta, focusing on how traditional batik craftsmanship can be preserved and revitalized within a modern metropolitan context. The research aims to analyze the strategies, challenges, and socio-cultural impacts of transforming Jakarta’s batik villages into centers of creative-based tourism that combine cultural preservation with economic empowerment. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation from artisans, government officials, and tourism stakeholders. The findings reveal that the Batik Village initiative effectively fosters community participation, strengthens local identity, and stimulates creative entrepreneurship, yet faces constraints related to policy coordination, marketing limitations, and authenticity management. The study concludes that sustaining urban cultural tourism requires adaptive collaboration between stakeholders and continuous innovation that respects traditional values. Its contribution lies in providing a model of how cultural heritage can evolve within the creative economy framework, offering insights for sustainable urban tourism development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning learning model in improving student learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 12 Padang. The Discovery Learning learning method, which begins with students' independent discovery of concepts, can improve motivation, understanding, and critical thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving Phase F students at SMA Negeri 12 Padang. Student learning outcome data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, then analyzed using an independent t-test to determine significant differences between the group implementing the Discovery Learning model and the control group using conventional methods. A questionnaire was also used to measure students' perceptions of the learning experience. The results showed that there was a significant increase in student learning outcomes using the Discover Learning model compared to the control group. This increase was seen in students' abilities to understand complex concepts, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking abilities. The implication of this finding is that Discovery Learning can be an effective alternative to improve the quality of more effective learning, as well as providing insight for teachers in designing more interesting and relevant learning for students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze classroom evaluation as an instrument for improving teaching quality through a literature review of scientific journals, academic books, and policy documents. The study was conducted to address the issue of inequality in teaching quality influenced by evaluation practices that still focus on student outcomes, rather than the learning process. The results of the review indicate that classroom evaluation plays a crucial role in strengthening teacher professionalism through reflective practice, classroom observation, and providing meaningful feedback. Both global and national literature confirm that systematic, dialogic, and data-driven evaluation can improve instructional effectiveness and foster a culture of reflection in teaching practice. Other findings reveal structural and cultural barriers to the implementation of classroom evaluation in Indonesia, such as administrative constraints, teacher workloads, and evaluators' limited capacity to provide constructive feedback. These conditions often lead to evaluation being perceived as a means of control, rather than a means of professional development. This study concludes that repositioning classroom evaluation as a collaborative process that supports continuous improvement in teaching quality is crucial. Recommendations include strengthening evaluator competencies, developing contextual evaluation guidelines, and conducting field research to delve deeper into teachers' experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the halaqah method in the teaching of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) and its influence on students’ comprehension abilities at Pondok Pesantren Putri Anwarul Halimy in Lombok Barat. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the halaqah method is conducted intensively and systematically, with 24 sessions held weekly and students grouped into three proficiency levels. The learning process involves text reading, grammatical explanation, makna gandul annotation, and interactive discussion. The halaqah method significantly enhances students’ abilities to read unvowelled Arabic texts, understand classical Arabic structures, and interpret the content of classical Islamic books. Furthermore, halaqah contributes to character building, spiritual development, and the cultivation of discipline among students. However, a major challenge identified is the limited number of teachers, which affects the effectiveness of ability-based grouping and results in some students struggling in higher-level halaqah sessions. Thus, although the halaqah method remains relevant and effective in contemporary Islamic education, it requires sufficient instructional personnel to optimize the learning process of yellow book.

Abstract

The Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) program is a public policy designed to expand access to education for children from underprivileged families and realize equal distribution of learning opportunities throughout Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the KIP policy in reducing the dropout rate and review the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, referring to Mustari's public policy theory in Suaib et al. (2022) which highlights four main elements: Input, goals, instruments, and impact. The data was obtained through a review of scientific journals, official government reports, and national news related to the implementation of KIP. The results of the analysis show that the KIP policy plays an important role in reducing the dropout rate and increasing educational participation, especially in urban areas. However, the effectiveness of the program still faces obstacles in the form of inaccurate recipient data, delays in disbursement of funds, and limited educational infrastructure in the 3T area. The positive impact can be seen from the increasing public awareness of the importance of education and the opening of opportunities for equal access to learning. In conclusion, KIP is a socially effective policy but is not fully optimal in terms of administration and technology. Strengthening the integrated data system, increasing digital literacy, and adjusting the nominal amount of assistance are strategic steps to increase sustainability and equitable distribution of program benefits.
