Abstract

Toddlers are a golden period for the development of a child's brain, especially their physical condition dan cognition. Assessment of toddler development in this period is very important so that if an abnormality is found, it can be intervened immediately. This community service aims to see an overview of the growth dan development of toddlers aged 0-24 months at Posyandu Cambodia 3B with a cross sectional method dan a descriptive type. This community service was carried out with 44 respondents. The results showed normal nutritional status with a percentage of 81% for BB/TB, 61% for BB/U, dan 48% for TB/U. The proportion of malnutrition or malnutrition is 36%, short 45%, dan thin 18%, tall 6%, fat 2%. Based on the results, it was found that the percentage of malnutrition or undernutrition was still very high, so interventions were needed to correct the nutrition of toddlers 0-24 months. This is important to ensure the future of toddlers.

Abstract

To ensure the safety of food components derived from animals, it is necessary to conduct inspections of animals used as sacrifices. ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections are conducted to ensure the safety of meat that will be distributed to the public. The rising number of sacrificed animals at mosques and prayer rooms in Kupang City during Eid al-Adha necessitates the recruitment of additional veterinarians to ensure the safety of the slaughtered animals' meat. In response to this need, the Animal Husbandry Service of the Kupang City Government, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, conducted inspections of sacrificial animals in mosques and prayer rooms by conducting ante-mortem and post-mortem examinations of animal health and sacrificial meat. The ante-mortem and post-mortem examinations conducted at the Al-Faidah mosque provided positive results, and the final recommendation was that the sacrificed animals were healthy and in accordance with Islamic Sharia. The inspection results indicate that the meat is also suitable for human consumption.

Abstract

The toddler period is the first year of human life. This period is an important and critical period. The toddler period is classified as a developmental stage that has the potential to have health problems because the immune system in toddlers is not strong enough to deal with viruses or germs from outside. In this regard, it is necessary to monitor nutritional status by measuring physical growth using anthropometric parameters. Monitoring of nutritional status that is often carried out regularly at posyandu is measuring body length (PB), body weight (BB) and upper arm circumference (LILA). During the measurement activities at Posyandu Sokon, Fatukoa, difficulties and challenges were found that could bias the measurement, so it is very important to handle and control it so that the results obtained are valid and do not harm the clients being served. The tool used to measure body length is the Length Board, for body weight is a digital scale, and to measure the LILA uses the LILA tape. The number of toddlers measured was 63 people. From the inspection activities, there were many obstacles when taking measurements where the most common difficulties were found, namely toddlers who often cry and cannot be silent when they want to be examined

Abstract

National health development focuses on preventive and promotive efforts to increase awareness, willingness, and the ability to live healthily for everyone. The activities carried out at the Anggrek 2 Belo Sikumana Posyandu used the stages of work, namely: Conducting an anamnesis with several residents in the area and providing KIE to residents in the area. Conduct a through evaluation of processes and performance as well as reporting of all activity results, including temporary conclusions and suggestions for further activities. From the results of the Self-Introspective Survey, it was found that there was still a lack of public knowledge and information about the health problems surrounding them. It was also found that the information they obtained regarding a health problem was obtained if someone in their family experienced it, direct information from health workers and the public media around them. There is still a lack of information that they know about health problems such as stunting, information on prenatal care, childbirth, and information on complete basic immunization. From the survey results it was also found that there was still a lack of community behavior in maintaining health such as exercising and washing hands due to the bathroom being outside the home. Education related to family and community health problems needs to be carried out so that public health knowledge increases and a better understanding of existing health problems.

Abstract

According to the Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI) report, East Nusa Tenggara is the province with the highest stunting rate nationally in 2021. Therefore, the government seeks to monitor growth and development as well as the provision of good and timely vitamin A to toddlers and children, and in the context of preventing and overcoming stunting, the government simultaneously implements the weighing operation program in all posyandu in each puskesmas, namely in February and August. Posyandu is required to monitor children's growth and development through the weighing operation program. Sikumana Health Center is one of the health centers in Kupang City that conducts a weighing operation program, which is carried out at each posyandu in the Sikumana Health Center working area. The weighing operation is an important momentum for community participation to improve the health of toddlers and children by monitoring children's growth and development, including overcoming malnutrition of toddlers which causes an increased risk of stunting, disruption of physical growth, mental development and intelligence of children. In this weighing operation activity, vitamin A and deworming drugs are also given and must be attended by all toddlers in the Sikumana UPTD Puskesmas work area. If toddlers are not present at the Posyandu, sweeping will be carried out, namely the act of measuring the height and weight of toddlers and children at the house concerned or picking up toddlers and children from home to the posyandu. In this case, students of the doctor education program, Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Undana actively participated in Operation Weighing. This is in line with field practice activities in the IKKOM course. This field practice coincided with the weighing operation schedule at the posyandu in the Sikumana area, which was held for 5 days. This activity was attended by students from February 6 to February 10, with several activities such as anthropometric examination, administration of vitamin A, filling out the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) questionnaire, introspective survey questionnaire, and checking blood sugar for the elderly, as well as distributing green bean porridge.

Abstract

Malaria is one of the parasitic infectious diseases that is still a world health problem, especially in tropical countries including Indonesia. Malaria is still one of the causes of death in both adults and children. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) malaria report in 2020, the estimated number of malaria cases in the world in 2019 reached 229 million cases in 87 malaria-endemic countries, down from 238 million in 2000. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health regarding the achievement of Malaria Elimination Districts / Cities shows that Indonesia's Annual Paracite Incidence (API) rate in 2020 reached 0.87. Data from the 2021 NTT Malaria Report from the NTT Provincial Health Office shows that in 2021, the number of positive malaria cases in NTT Province was 9,419 cases with an API of 1.72 per 1000 population and 10 cases of death due to malaria. In addition, in 2021 there are 14 districts/cities in NTT classified as low endemic areas, and there are still 3 districts/cities classified as high endemic areas with the dominant species being plasmodium falciparum. Kupang Regency is one of the areas targeted for malaria elimination in 2020. Camplong Village, Fatuleu District, is included in Kupang Regency which is the target of elimination in 2022. Aims and objectives: Increase awareness of the people of Camplong village on the dangers of malaria, malaria prevention and treatment so that the 2030 NTT malaria elimination target can be achieved. Method of implementation of activities: Counseling and treatment Output indicators produced: The implementation of counseling for the community in the Camplong Village area of Hamlet 2 totaling 88 residents consisting of 45 women and 43 men. Conclusion: The activities of malaria counseling and treatment services in Camplong village 2 hamlet 2 RT 5,6,7 are one of the programs that can provide benefits to the community, namely increasing knowledge about malaria, how to prevent and treat malaria. This is very important to improve the health of the Camplong community while helping the malaria elimination program carried out by the government. Similar activities must continue to be carried out and in collaboration with local Puskesmas so that the target of malaria elimination in 2030 for Kupang district in particular and Indonesia in general can be achieved.

Abstract

Public speaking is one of the skills needed in the global era and can affect success at work. With good communication, a person will be able to convey messages appropriately, build various relationships with many people and agencies, motivate others, and also be able to influence various decisions. Without good communication skills, misunderstandings will arise, reducing opportunities for building relationships and collaboration with other parties. However, public speaking often causes anxiety, stress, and intense negative behavioral responses. An initial survey by the team found that the faculty of medicine and veterinary medicine of Universitas Nusa Cendana (FKKH Undana) leadership had never received capacity-building training on public speaking. These inadequate speaking skills can undermine the ability to convey important messages or bore the audience. A person's lack of self-confidence will also hinder his/her self-development and make him pessimistic in facing challenges. Therefore, the community service team conducted public speaking training for leaders and the Undana FKKH academic community. In this activity, the participants were trained on the basics of public speaking, namely how to master themselves, master the material, and master the audience. This training received a positive response from the participants, where the participants felt an increase in their abilities and self-confidence. Public speaking can help speakers convey messages more precisely to the audience. The training is expected to improve performance in public speaking and overcome anxiety.
