Abstract

This study looks at how control and resistance are portrayed in Cecelia Ahern's dystopian novel Flawed and how the main character reacts to it. The goal of this study is to examine the concepts of control and resistance as they are presented in the book Flawed. Michel Foucault's theory of power and knowledge was applied to this study. The descriptive qualitative approach was used to carry out this study. The researcher discovered sixteen data sets with resistance elements from Celestine as the main character and fourteen data sets with control aspects from the government. The research's conclusions demonstrate how the government exercises its authority and existence through various means of control, including prohibitions, surveillance, and retaliation against the Flawed (opponents). Contrary to this, Celestine's resistance as the major character demonstrates that she typically resists verbally rather than physically. Celestine chooses to rebel and resist this system of control, which inspires a resistance movement and gives hope to those who are suppressed. The resistance carried out by Celestine shows that the power and knowledge held by the government are not absolute.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the process of Islamization in khanduri blang, which was previously carried out at the tomb of the ulama, became a meunasah and also to find out what social changes took place in society during the process of Islamization in khanduri blang ritual in Gampong Dayah Leubue, Ulim District, Pidie Jaya Regency. This research is a field research that uses qualitative research methods with descriptive research types that come into direct contact with informants by conducting interviews and direct observation. The results of this study explain that the process of Islamization in the khanduri blang ritual is caused by two factors, namely the will of the community itself and the existence of da'wah and education channels that make a difference and change in the implementation of the khanduri blang ritual in Gampong Dayah Leubue. In addition, this process of Islamization is closely related to August Comte's theory of 3 stages of development, namely the theological stage where people still believe in supernatural things such as performing rituals at the tombs of the clergy, then the metaphysical stage where the farming community believes. prohibited from going down to the rice fields for 3 days, and a positive stage where people already have progress and renewal of education and thoughts to abandon beliefs that according to them do not exist in Islamic teachings.

Abstract

In the development of the era of globalization 5.0, Indonesia has changed rapidly, there are increasingly developing technological advances. Technological advances are able to create new things and develop new thoughts (Adiningsih, 2019). The rapid development of technology in society is able to change the mindset of society globally, both in positive and negative terms because the role of technology is very important in determining people's welfare and triggering acts that are against the law (Ramli, 2007). Based on research results, Financial Technology (Fintech) among the public has been well implemented. It can be concluded that Playground X uses a payment strategy through Financial Technology (Fintech) in running its business in order to attract consumers' interest and be able to build a positive image, as seen from consumers who have experienced payment through Financial Technology (Fintech). With technological advances and digitalization when making payments at Playground X, it provides excellent value to increase Playground X's business interests. By implementing Financial Technology (Fintech) in the community, it has a positive impact on Playground X because it is considered capable of providing services that are in line with what consumers expect.

Abstract

Social exclusion in the form of discrimination and intolerance has reached remote villages, including Hukurila Village, South Leitimur District, Ambon City. This act of exclusion occurred due to the low understanding of social change agencies in the village in terms of implementation and dynamics of planning inclusive village development programs. Apart from that, the amount of human resources and skills they have in the implementation and dynamics of planning inclusive village development programs is also relatively low. Due to this problem, strategic steps are needed in building inclusive villages with comprehensive training activities for change agents in Hukurila Village, South Leitimur District, Ambon City. Training and mentoring methods for development agents is one solution to overcome this problem. The activity program was implemented involving village government officials, community leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders and women's leaders, as well as change agent groups in Hukurila Village, South Leitimur District, Ambon City. Abstract

Road infrastructure development is an important step in increasing connectivity and economic growth in an area. However, often road construction can have a negative impact on the environment if it is not managed properly. Preparing an Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) is one approach that can minimize these negative impacts and maintain a balance between development and the environment. This community service aims to increase people's understanding in Hila Country, Central Maluku, about the importance of AMDAL in road construction. Through various participatory and educational activities, the service team aims to provide information about the AMDAL process, its benefits in road construction, and the importance of community involvement in environmental impact assessments. The methods used in this service involve interactive workshops, group discussions, and distribution of educational material about AMDAL. Apart from that, the service team also collaborates with related agencies to provide training to local government staff on the AMDAL process in order to improve understanding and effective implementation of AMDAL. It is hoped that the results of this service will create awareness among the community about the importance of AMDAL in road construction and their active role in making decisions regarding environmental impacts. Apart from that, it is also hoped that it can encourage broader and more comprehensive implementation of AMDAL in development projects in this area in order to achieve a sustainable environment and high carrying capacity.

Abstract

The focus of the problem in this study is how is the practice of exchanging pick- up money in pariaman marriages in the city of Medan and the social status of men whose nominal amount is determined based on the agreement of the two parties who consider each other until both parties agree on the nominal to be given to the man -man. This tradition can be changed or changed by deliberation. With the development of the times, this tradition is no longer as strict as it used to be, which requires the woman to give a sum of money to the man's family in accordance with the degree or social status in terms of education, work and income owned by the man. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques were carried out using in- depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data collection techniques were carried out by surveying directly to the research location in the village of Tegal Sari 1 and also from several sources of literature studies. Data were analyzed using social exchange theory according to Levi-Strauss. The results showed that the practice of pick-up money in Tegal Sari 1 Village, Medan Area District, Medan City, did not always follow customary rules but was adjusted to the needs and consensus of the family who carried out the exchange process. For example, in Pariaman, there is cello money for ninik mamak, but in the city of Medan, there is none because this depends on the agreement of both parties so as not to burden the women. Some people think that pick-up money is something that is important in relation to preserving customs, but there are also those who refuse to give pick-up money because it is considered unethical. Then, it seems that the provision of pick-up money in the context of the Minang Pariaman overseas in Medan city is largely determined by the social status of men, the higher the social status the man has, the greater the nominal pick-up money. Giving this pick-up money does not include the dowry, but this is the cost incurred by the woman to bring a man to enter the woman's family.

Abstract

This research discusses the results of cross-cultural communication discussions that took place in the Medan ARMY community regarding the femininity displayed by BTS. So we get the result that masculinity is BTS's gender identity displayed by the media regarding BTS' feminine appearance, giving rise to a reconstruction of femininity among fans and the wider community. In it there are differences in understanding what femininity and masculinity actually are and how they respond to each of them which becomes an obstacle in the process of cross-cultural communication that exists. According to fans, the rearrangement of the meaning of femininity displayed by BTS creates an alienation of local culture from global culture. The feminine appearance displayed by BTS is considered by Indonesian society to be a social deviation and has a negative impact on Indonesia's young generation. Social construction among Indonesian society regarding femininity and masculinity is a marker of someone's appearance as a gender identity, but this is denied by some groups who think that a person's appearance does not have to be limited by gender. A person has the right to look as comfortable as possible without having to be limited by social constructions that exist in society, as well as the formation of standards from various groups and environments.

Abstract

Community service activities are based on discovering problems faced by the community or the environment after observations are made so that programs can be determined to suit their needs. Wotansari Village, one of the villages in Gresik Regency, has a new tourist attraction, which BUMDEs Giri Asih manages. However, many MSMEs who operate in the reservoir feel they need help managing their finances well and are still dependent on bank loans or loan sharks. In addition, the promotion of the pool still needs to be improved. Through community service activities, several programs implemented are: Educational activities on financial management towards family finances and independent businesses, Making promotional videos and photo spots as new vehicles, Optimizing village websites for independent population services. Based on the evaluation results, it is known that this community service activity has received a good response from the community, as evidenced by an increase in community understanding of good financial management, knowledge of the use of village websites for self-service, and the increasing introduction of the Waduk Citani to the general public.
