Abstract

This study examines the da‘wah messages embedded in the song “Eling-Eling Umat” by Ebith Beat A, focusing on how its lyrics promote the obligation of ṣalāh and cultivate spiritual awareness among listeners. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, this research draws on document analysis grounded in the theory of fiqh al-ṣalāh and da‘wah through creative media. The findings indicate that the song conveys explicit messages regarding the mandatory nature of ṣalāh and implicit messages related to its spiritual virtues and the consequences of negligence. The lyrics integrate normative religious teachings with creative da‘wah strategies expressed through popular musical forms, enabling broader public engagement. The study concludes that popular religious music can function as an effective medium for strengthening awareness of ṣalāh and for enhancing the community’s spiritual connection to Islamic values. Keywords: Ṣalāh; da‘wah; religious music; Ebith Beat A; fiqh of ṣalāh; popular culture.

Abstract

The limited internalization of religious values and information in Islamic Religious Education learning in schools is often caused by insufficient consideration of neuroscience and cultural aspects in the learning process. This research aims to discover an appropriate Islamic Religious Education learning model with a Deep Learning approach that aligns with efforts to strengthen cultural values embedded in the learning process, adapting this learning model in Islamic Religious Education with a cultural approach implemented based on neuroscience knowledge. This research employs a mixed methods research model, utilizing qualitative data with a phenomenological approach to identify students' learning style tendencies in schools, while quantitative data is used to confirm and test findings from the qualitative data. The results of this research demonstrate that 1) the three dimensions of the deep learning approach are interconnected and influence Islamic Religious Education learning at every educational level, 2) adapting the Deep Learning approach based on Cultural Neuroscience into the learning process supports the existence of cultural values in learning implementation, 3) the implementation of Islamic Religious Education learning through the Deep Learning approach with the Cultural Neuroscience concept not only has implications for improving Islamic Religious Education learning competencies, but also for developing cognitive abilities and students' capacity to contextualize Islamic Religious Education learning. Keywords: Learning approach, Deep learning, Cultural neuroscience, Islamic education

Abstract

The implementation of the murur scheme in Muzdalifah emerged as a strategic response of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs to the extreme crowding observed during the 2023 Hajj season. The scheme allows eligible pilgrims to pass through Muzdalifah without staying overnight after completing wukuf in Arafah, proceeding directly to Mina. Priority is given to elderly pilgrims, individuals with high medical risk, persons with disabilities, those with obesity, wheelchair users, and officially assigned companions. This study aims to examine the operational management of the murur scheme, analyze its policy implementation using the Van Meter and Van Horn framework, and evaluate the effectiveness of its execution. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the operational management of the murur scheme was sufficiently effective during its inaugural implementation. The Decree of the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Affairs No. 137/2025 further outlines detailed procedures for the 2025 Hajj cycle, covering the Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina phases. The study contributes to strengthening operational efficiency, enhancing pilgrim safety, and supporting continuous policy refinement within large-scale Hajj management systems.  Keywords: Murur Scheme; Operational Management; Hajj Performance; Policy Implementation; Van Meter–Van Horn Model

Abstract

Depression is one of the mental disorders with a high global prevalence, while pharmacological approaches often fail to address the psychological and spiritual aspects that are at the root of the problem. In Islamic tradition, hadiths contain emotional concepts such as huzn, ghamm, and ya's, which have the potential to form the basis for the development of psycho-spiritual interventions. This study aims to analyze the meanings of these three terms in the hadith of the Prophet and construct a model of Islamic psychological intervention relevant to the treatment of depression. This study employs a thematic-hadith (al-maudhu‘i) qualitative approach, utilizing lafziyah search, takhrij, sanad-matan assessment, and thematic analysis in conjunction with Islamic psychology theory. Of the 30 hadiths that were successfully collected, 5 hadiths passed the criteria of authenticity and relevance. The analysis shows that the hadiths offer three therapeutic interventions: prayer as spiritual-cognitive regulation, talbinah as a biological intervention that affects mood stability, and al-hisā' as aroma-based sensory regulation. All three are consistent with Malik Badri's model of Islamic psychotherapy and Najati's psycho-physiological theory. Hadiths with the themes of huzn, ghamm, and ya's not only describe emotional conditions but also provide a framework for psycho-spiritual interventions that are compatible with modern psychotherapy. This study opens up opportunities for clinical trials of the resulting intervention model.Keyword: Depression; Hadith; Islamic Mental Health; Psycho-Spiritual Integration; Spiritual Intervention.

Abstract

Child grooming in the digital age is a form of manipulation of children through social media, messaging apps, and other online platforms that has the potential to lead to sexual exploitation. This phenomenon demonstrates that children need not only legal protection but also strengthened family parenting that can build moral, emotional, and digital resilience. This study aims to analyze the construction of Islamic parenting from the perspective of hadith as a preventive response to child grooming in the digital age. This is a qualitative, literature-based study using a thematic-hadith approach. Primary data sources consist of hadiths regarding parental responsibility, child protection, moral education, and faith development, while secondary data consists of literature on child grooming, Islamic parenting, and child protection in the digital space. The data were analyzed through reduction, thematic categorization, and contextual interpretation of relevant hadiths. The results indicate that the Islamic parenting framework in response to child grooming encompasses five main pillars: strengthening children’s monotheism and moral character; parental supervision and responsibility (ri‘ayah); open communication within the family; fostering proper social etiquette and physical protection; and digital literacy grounded in Islamic values. These five pillars position parents not only as caregivers, but also as protectors, educators, and guides in their children’s use of digital spaces. Thus, hadith-based Islamic parenting can serve as a preventive framework for building children’s resilience against the threat of child grooming in the digital age.

Abstract

This study examines the Banggae Royal Tomb Complex on Ondongan Hill, Pangali-ali Village, Banggae District, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi, as an archaeological artifact and a symbol of Islamic civilization in the Mandar region. Designated as a National Cultural Heritage since 1999, this site is the largest traditional burial complex in West Sulawesi, comprising 471 tombs spread across 1.6 hectares, yet it has received no comprehensive or systematic scientific study to date. This research employs a qualitative approach combining field archaeology with symbolic hermeneutics. Data were collected through structured field observation of all 471 tombs, photographic and technical documentation, and an extensive literature review of archaeological, historiographical, and ethnographic sources. Quantitative analysis was applied to tombstone dimensions, spatial distribution of graves, and frequency of decorative motifs. Findings reveal that the complex contains tombs spanning the 16th to 20th centuries, organized into five dynastic zones. Typological analysis identified four tombstone categories — flat-upright, crown, cylindrical, and composite — with coral stone as the dominant material. The most significant finding is the presence of swastika symbols on 30.4% of tombstones alongside Arabic calligraphy and Islamic geometric motifs, constituting compelling evidence that Islamization in Mandar was acculturative and dialogic rather than substitutive. Through symbolic hermeneutic interpretation, the tombstones can be read as texts encoding theological, political, and cultural meanings simultaneously. The selection of Ondongan Hill reflects the vertical cosmology of Mandar society, which regards elevated terrain as sacred space — a concept that was not eliminated but harmonized with Islamic values, making this site a living monument to centuries of synthesis among Austronesian, Hindu-Buddhist, and Islamic traditions. On a broader scale, the complex stands as a strategic node in the maritime Islamic burial site network across the Indonesian archipelago, reaffirming that Islamization in Indonesia was an adaptive, contextual, and culturally negotiated process.

Abstract

Advances in digital technology and the open-access movement have transformed the global distribution of knowledge, including in Islamic studies. However, information openness in the digital age still faces various challenges, such as restricted access to knowledge, knowledge monopolies, the spread of unverified information, and a weak ethical foundation in the dissemination of knowledge. On the other hand, the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regarding the prohibition against concealing knowledge indicates a moral responsibility to convey knowledge for the benefit of the community. This study aims to interpret the hadith on the prohibition against concealing knowledge from the perspective of open access and freedom of information, as well as to analyze its relevance to the practice of knowledge dissemination in the digital age. The study employs a qualitative method using a library research approach. Data were obtained from the major hadith collections (Kutubus Sittah), hadith commentaries, literature on open access and freedom of information, as well as relevant scholarly articles. Data analysis was conducted using hadith authentication techniques, hadith commentary, thematic analysis, and comparative analysis. The results of the study indicate that hadiths regarding the prohibition of concealing knowledge affirm that knowledge is a social trust that must be disseminated responsibly. This principle is substantively aligned with the concept of open access, particularly in terms of open access to knowledge, equitable distribution of knowledge, and public benefit. However, Islam . This study employed a qualitative method using a library research approach. Data analysis was conducted using hadith takhrij techniques, hadith commentaries, thematic analysis, and comparative analysis. The results indicate that the hadiths regarding the prohibition against concealing knowledge affirm that knowledge is a social trust that must be disseminated responsibly. This principle aligns substantively with the concept of open access, particularly regarding open access to knowledge, equitable distribution of knowledge, and public benefit. However, Islam also emphasizes ethical boundaries in the form of information verification, the competence of the disseminator, and a focus on the public good. These findings indicate that Islam not only supports the openness of knowledge but also offers an ethical framework for the distribution of knowledge that is relevant to the development of information systems and scientific publications in the digital age.

Abstract

A This article aims to analyze how Haji Mohammad Misbach was represented as a threatening figure in colonial discourse through coverage in the newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad voor Nederlandsch-Indië in 1924. This study departs from the limitations of previous research that tended to place Misbach within a historical, political, and ideological framework, without specifically examining the process of constructing his image in colonial media. This research utilizes historical methods combined with a discourse analysis approach, using the text "De Interneering van Hadji Misbach" as the primary source. The analysis focuses on identifying the diction choices, narrative structure, and representational patterns used to frame Misbach's figure. This study uses a discourse analysis approach to examine the construction of Haji Misbach's representation in the colonial press. The results show that Misbach's representation as a stokebrand (dangerous instigator) is not neutral, but rather a discursive construction produced through strategies of labeling, stereotypical repetition, and narrative framing. This construction served to shape public perception and legitimize the colonial government's repressive policies, including the practice of interning, as rational measures to maintain public order. These findings confirm that the colonial press served not only as a medium of information but also as an instrument of power in producing meaning and controlling discourse on Islam and social resistance in the Dutch East Indies. This article contributes to broadening the study of social and intellectual history by emphasizing the importance of representational analysis in understanding the relationship between language, power, and colonialism.

Abstract

Inclusive finance is a national and global strategic agenda to increase access to financial services for the community that has not been served, especially micro business actors. In the context of sharia business law, maqashid sharia becomes a normative framework that can direct financial practices to not only be profit-oriented, but also ensure justice, blessings, and sustainability. This article aims to analyze the role of sharia maqashid in realizing inclusive finance through a case study of microfinance at Bank Mekar Syariah Burneh. The research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, which is then processed with Miles & Huberman data analysis techniques and source triangulation. The results of the study show that the implementation of maqashid sharia is reflected in the financing orientation that emphasizes the principles of justice, property protection (hifdz al-mal), improving the quality of life, and the sustainability of customer businesses. The sharia microfinance strategy has been proven to be able to expand access to finance, increase literacy, and strengthen the economic empowerment of small communities. This study confirms that the integration of sharia maqashid with inclusive financial indicators not only strengthens the sharia business legal literature, but also offers a microfinance model that can be replicated by other sharia financial institutions in Indonesia.
