Abstract

This study examines the harmonization of customary law and Islamic family law within the tradition of Temu Ahak in Indonesian marriage practices. Using a qualitative method with an empirical juridical approach through case studies, data were collected via interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that Temu Ahak functions as a socio-legal mechanism that provides space for deliberation, verification, and assessment of the readiness of prospective spouses, with the tengganai serving as the customary authority. The approval of the tengganai influences marriage administration, affirming Temu Ahak as a form of living law that interacts with formal law. From the perspective of Islamic family law, Temu Ahak reflects the principle of caution (ihtiyat) and responsibility in choosing a spouse, while in the framework of maqashid al-shari’ah it contributes to safeguarding religion, lineage, and honor. Thus, Temu Ahak represents a bridge of harmonization between customary norms, Islamic law, and state law in the marriage practices of society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the gaps in the implementation of academic supervision in Islamic boarding schools by examining the current reality, implementation barriers, and potential strategies for improvement. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a case study design, conducted over a three-month period from September to November 2025 at a junior high school in Indonesia. This study focuses on revealing the practices of academic supervision, the implementation barriers faced, and their implications for the learning process and students’ academic achievement in the Islamic Boarding Schools environment. Data sources were obtained from ten informants, consisting of one school principal, one vice principal for curriculum, one school supervisor, four core subject teachers, two parents, and one school committee representative. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic matrix and comparative tables to map the gaps between academic supervision standards and actual practices in the field. The research findings also reveal variations in student academic achievement influenced by inconsistent supervision, with results ranging from improvement to stagnation and even a decline in performance. The findings indicate that these disparities stem from weak planning, a lack of coordination, and insufficient training for supervisors. The findings and opinions in this study offer practical and theoretical implications for strengthening the governance of academic supervision in Islamic boarding schools, particularly as a foundation for formulating more systematic, collaborative, and culturally contextual supervision policies aimed at improving the quality of learning and the consistency of students’ academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate appropriate welfare improvement strategies through the analysis of internal and external factors and the identification of priority strategies using the QSPM. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through Likert-scale questionnaires, interviews, and direct observations. The IFE matrix produced a score of 2.86, indicating that internal strengths are relatively dominant, particularly in product quality and farmer networks. Meanwhile, the EFE matrix yielded a score of 3.12, suggesting that external opportunities remain substantial, especially in terms of increasing market demand and government support programs. The business position in the IE Matrix falls within Quadrant II, implying significant growth potential that requires targeted development strategies to capitalize on existing opportunities. The QSPM analysis identifies digital marketing training and branding enhancement as the top strategic priorities, followed by expanded access to financing, product quality certification, and strengthening farmer institutions. Overall, the findings confirm that improving the welfare of honey pineapple micro-entrepreneurs should be pursued through growth-oriented strategies that emphasize internal capability development, effective utilization of digitalization, and integrated, sustainable institutional support.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited scope of Living Quran research that explores khuruj fi sabilillah as a medium for the internalization of Quranic values in shaping the religious character of youth. The research aims to examine the understanding of Jama’ah Tabligh youth in an Indonesian community regarding the practice of khuruj fi sabilillah, to identify the Quranic values received and internalized through this practice, and to explain the supporting and constraining factors in the formation of religious character. Employing a qualitative method with a descriptive-interpretative approach within the Living Quran framework, data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation involving Jama’ah Tabligh youth and amir actively engaged in khuruj activities. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, verification, and thematic interpretation. The findings demonstrate that khuruj fi sabilillah functions not only as a missionary activity but also as a process of experiencing, receiving, and actualizing Quranic teachings in socio-religious life. This practice contributes to strengthening worship discipline, responsibility, Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), sacrifice, and self-control among youth. The study enriches Living Quran scholarship, particularly in relation to contemporary da’wah movements and the development of religious character among Muslim youth.

Abstract

As the demands of vocational education globalization and the international industry’s need for competitive graduates continue to rise, the independent implementation of National Education Standards is deemed insufficient to fully ensure adaptive and sustainable quality management, particularly in vocational high schools operating as Regional Public Service Agencies. This study aims to critically examine and evaluate the implementation of the Hybrid Quality Management Model as an integrated approach that combines National Education Standards with international quality management principles based on ISO 9001:2015 in the quality management of vocational education at vocational high schools. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research collected data from key informants, including school principals, quality assurance teams, teachers, Regional Public Service Agency administrators, and industry partners through in-depth interviews, observation of quality assurance processes, and analysis of official documents, with data validity ensured through triangulation and thematic analysis.  The research findings reveal the existence of two distinct quality assurance practices: compliance with National Education Standards, which focuses on administrative compliance, and process-based quality management aligned with ISO 9001:2015, as evidenced by the implementation of standard operating procedures, ongoing internal audits, and corrective action mechanisms. This study contributes novelty to the literature on educational quality management by proposing the Hybrid Quality Management Model as a new conceptual approach that systematically positions international quality management principles as structural reinforcements of the National Education Standards, rather than merely as supplements or parallel systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and develop a Digital Quality Management (DQM) framework for Islamic Educational Institutions to improve the quality of e-learning while strengthening the internalization of religious values. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was obtained through in-depth interviews with research subjects, including leaders of Islamic educational institutions, heads of curriculum departments, e-learning managers, teachers and students, participant observation, and documentation of policies, quality guidelines, academic reports, and digital archives. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through triangulation of sources, methods, and observers. The results of the study formulated four pillars of digital quality management: the integration of uswah hasanah values in cyber risk management, the role of tafaqquh fiddin as a digital literacy strategy for students, the “sunnah fasting-based independent time audit” model for device self-regulation, and the effectiveness of “double certification” in ensuring teacher academic integrity. This research contributes practical operational guidelines for Islamic schools to ensure that technology functions as a reinforcement of religious identity, not merely as an administrative tool. Overall, this digital quality management framework holistically integrates the dimensions of technology, quality management, and Islamic values to address digital transformation in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the implementation of servant leadership by madrasah principals can effectively encourage teacher collaboration while improving student academic learning outcomes. This study employed a qualitative approach, utilizing a single case study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews (with the principal, deputy principal for curriculum, senior teachers, administrative staff, homeroom teachers, and students) with 15 informants, participant observation, and documentation including the annual work plan, minutes of teacher coordination meetings, and a recapitulation of student report card grades. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions from documents including the annual work plan, minutes of teacher coordination meetings, and a recapitulation of student report card grades. The results show that the principal of one of the Islamic schools applies servant leadership based on spiritual and Islamic principles. Its five pillars (spiritual exemplarity, Islamic empathy, teacher innovation empowerment, Khādimul Ma'had Stewardship, and active hearing) transform the madrasah. This leadership fosters collaboration, integrity, and loyalty, which have been proven to improve student discipline and academic achievement. The contribution of this study is to present a contextual and applicable Servant Leadership model within a spiritual framework (Islamic exemplarity and Khādimul Ma'had Stewardship) in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the internalization of ethical values in religious gatherings within Muslim women’s prayer communities, analyzed through the Living Qur’an perspective. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving active participants. The findings indicate that ethical principles—such as providing space for others, maintaining courtesy, showing respect, and attentive listening—are consistently practiced in these gatherings. Although most participants are not explicitly aware of the textual source of these values, they have been deeply embedded in social behavior and religious traditions. The prayer gatherings serve not only as a medium for spiritual enrichment but also as a space for character formation, strengthening social bonds, and enhancing communal faith. This study underscores the role of local religious traditions as effective vehicles for transmitting Qur’anic values in socially meaningful and practical ways within Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study explores the Qur’anic parenting  inspired by the story of Prophet Zakaria and its relevance to contemporary family upbringing. The research is motivated by the shift in modern parenting patterns, which often prioritize material fulfillment while neglecting consistent spiritual and moral development. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-interpretative methods, data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and Qur’anic exegesis. The findings reveal that Prophet Zakaria’s parenting values emphasize sincerity in supplication, spiritual awareness, humility, hope for righteous offspring, transmission of religious values, and orientation toward divine approval. These values are reflected in practices such as habitual worship, Qur’an education, gentle parental advice, role modeling, and community involvement in religious activities. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including the influence of modernization, inconsistent parental practices, and limited religious understanding within families. The study concludes that the Qur’anic parenting model inspired by Prophet Zakaria provides a relevant framework for nurturing a generation that is faithful, ethical, and socially responsible.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of tengganai in resolving domestic conflicts and analyzes the practice within the framework of maqashid shariah. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews and observations with tengganai, customary leaders, and related stakeholders. The findings indicate that tengganai act as mediators who emphasize deliberation and familial approaches through the mechanism of sit tengganai. This mechanism has proven effective in resolving disputes swiftly, efficiently, and with respect for the dignity of the parties involved. Nevertheless, a shift has occurred in which the enforcement of customary sanctions has become less consistent, with greater reliance on persuasive methods. From the perspective of maqashid shariah, this practice reflects efforts to safeguard religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property, thereby illustrating the contextual application of living maqashid. The study highlights the importance of tengganai as local actors in integrating customary law and Islamic law in domestic conflict resolution.
