Abstract

Population density is a strategic issue in spatial planning, particularly in areas experiencing rapid settlement growth, such as Rumah Tiga Village, Teluk Ambon. This study aims to estimate population density using remote sensing (RS) technology and geographical information systems (GIS). The method employed is a dasymetric mapping approach based on Google Earth Pro satellite imagery, with manual digitization of built-up areas and spatial analysis. The results show that the estimated population density using RS reaches 660.69 people/km², significantly higher than the official figure from BPS (334.84 people/km²) due to the focus on actual inhabited areas. Spatial validation was conducted using NDVI and NDBI indices, and it was overlaid/RW administrative data. This study concludes that RS is effective for estimating and mapping population distribution, and supports spatial data-based decision-making for sustainable village spatial planning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of school committees in supporting educational governance in Namlea District, Buru Regency. The focus of the research includes four main functions of the committee: advisory, supportive, supervisory, and mediating roles. A qualitative approach was employed using a case study method at three educational institutions with different backgrounds, namely a public junior high school, a private junior high school, and a private Islamic school (madrasah). Data collection techniques involved in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings show that the effectiveness of the committee's role is strongly influenced by the openness of school leadership and the intensity of communication with the community. Committees in participatory schools played strategic roles in decision-making, voluntarily supporting school activities, and monitoring programs and student behavior. Conversely, in schools with limited communication, committee roles tended to be passive and administrative. As mediators, committees served to bridge the interests of parents, the community, and the school in fostering mutual understanding

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the school principal's strategic management in implementing the Project to Strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) at SDN 70 Ambon. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed interactively based on the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that the principal applies a collaborative leadership style that is responsive to both internal and external school needs. The strategies implemented include SWOT-based planning, optimal resource allocation, participatory evaluation, and corrective actions focused on continuous improvement. Additionally, teacher motivation and parental involvement play a crucial role in supporting the success of the project. The impact of P5 implementation is reflected in the improved character development of students aligned with Pancasila values and the enhanced public image and competitiveness of the school. This research concludes that effective management strategies in P5 implementation not only strengthen the school culture but also establish a sustainable and adaptive education system in response to contemporary challenges

Abstract

Educators are central figures in the learning process, not only responsible for delivering instruction but also for continuously improving their professional competencies. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of educators at SMP Negeri 15 in the Teluk Ambon District by examining three aspects: the mismatch between subject matter taught and teacher qualifications, the use of learning facilities, and the impact of underutilized educational resources. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that although some teachers lack subject-specific qualifications, they are encouraged to pursue further education, training, and professional development opportunities. The available facilities at the school are generally used effectively, despite limitations in technological resources such as internet access and computers. The study also reveals that the ineffective use of educational facilities can negatively affect learning quality and student motivation. Therefore, school management must optimize available infrastructure to enhance student learning outcomes and character development. This research contributes to the understanding of how resource constraints can be mitigated through strategic professional development and efficient facility management in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the contribution of physical activity to students’ healthy lifestyles as a form of long-term health investment. The main focus includes student engagement in structured physical activities, the implementation of healthy living practices, and perceptions of the long-term benefits of physical exercise. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, involving 140 active students from the Physical Education Study Program at Pattimura University. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire covering three aspects: physical activity (type, frequency, duration), healthy lifestyle indicators (diet, rest, physical activity, and avoidance of risky behaviors), and perceptions of five long-term benefits. The results show that most students are physically active, with dominant activities being fitness and jogging, high frequency (≥4 times/week), and a duration of 30–60 minutes per session. Diet and rest practices were generally good, but avoidance of risky behaviors remained low. Students had positive perceptions of improved endurance and mental health, though awareness of quality of life in old age was still limited. Health education and institutional support need to be strengthened.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the participation of fishermen's wives in household income and to identify the factors influencing their income in Dobo City, Aru Islands Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach using descriptive methods and multiple linear regression analysis. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to fishermen's wives engaged in productive economic activities. The results showed that the average contribution of wives' income to household income was classified as moderate, at 34.37%. Simultaneously, variables such as the wife's working time, work experience, husband's income, and number of family members influenced the wives’ income. Partially, the wife's working time, husband's income, and number of family members had a significant effect, while work experience did not. These findings highlight the economic role of women in fishermen's households and the need for empowerment strategies to enhance productivity and access to economic resources. This study is expected to serve as a reference for gender-based development programs in coastal communities.

Abstract

In the dynamics of contemporary education, the development of critical, reflective, and constructive thinking has become an urgent need that must be addressed through appropriate instructional approaches. This study aims to examine how cognitive-based learning models can be implemented in developing contextual strategies that focus on nurturing students’ intellectual potential. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method through a literature review approach, systematically identifying and analyzing scholarly sources such as journals, books, and articles published between 2020 and 2025. The analysis reveals that cognitive learning models significantly impact students’ active engagement, the enhancement of higher-order thinking skills, and the formation of a sustainable knowledge structure. These strategies enable educators to design learning processes that are adaptive to students’ developmental stages and encourage meaningful learning through internal cognitive involvement

Abstract

Improving education quality depends on teacher competence and learning facility support. This study aims to examine the influence of professional teacher competence and educational infrastructure on the work enthusiasm of public junior high school teachers in Baguala District, Ambon City. A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method was used. The sample consisted of 127 teachers selected via stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a closed-ended Likert scale questionnaire. The analysis revealed that teacher competence significantly influences work enthusiasm (regression coefficient = 0.379), as do facilities (coefficient = 0.271). Together, both variables explain 42.2% of the variation in teacher enthusiasm. These findings highlight the need to strengthen teacher professionalism and learning support. The study offers a foundation for integrated policy decisions to improve teacher quality. It implies the need for ongoing professional development and adequate infrastructure to ensure a productive work environment.
