Abstract

This study was conducted to describe the meaning of lifelong education, its existence based on the perspective of Islamic teachings, and its interpretation in elementary schools. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research method (library research) to elaborate on the concepts and theories of lifelong education. It is widely approved that education is an inherent need that every human being must possess. Lifelong learning is a continuous and never-ending process (continuing learning) from the cradle to the grave. Each developmental phase of an individual is traversed through learning in order to fulfill their developmental tasks; thus, learning begins in infancy/toddlerhood, progresses through childhood (the elementary school years), and continues into adulthood, even until the end of life. Education lasts a lifetime, enriched by experiences gained both inside and outside the school environment. Within Islamic education, this is known as lifelong education. Particularly at the elementary school level—a phase where children begin to think rationally—the introduction of lifelong education should be instilled so that children understand that learning never stops. This indicates that education occurs without boundaries, beginning from birth till death

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in cognitive abilities between students who learned using the Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) learning model and those who learned through conventional learning methods, as well as to examine the improvement of students' cognitive abilities after the implementation of the SFAE model in fourth-grade Fiqh learning at MI Ma’arif Maron. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The participants consisted of 49 fourth-grade students, including 24 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. The research procedure included administering a pretest, implementing the SFAE model in the experimental class and conventional learning in the control class, and conducting a posttest. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Independent Samples t-Test and the N-Gain test. The results showed a significant difference in cognitive abilities between the experimental and control classes, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05. The N-Gain analysis revealed an average improvement of 81.11% in the experimental class (effective category), while the control class achieved 41.71% (less effective category). This finding demonstrates that the Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) learning model has a positive effect on students' cognitive abilities in Fiqh learning among fourth-grade students at MI Ma’arif Maron.

Abstract

Water is one of the most essential elements for life and has become an important subject of study in both the Qur'an and modern science. This study aims to analyze the concept of water from the perspectives of the Qur'an and modern science and to identify the relationship between the two viewpoints. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data were collected through the examination of scientific literature, including books, journal articles, and relevant research findings discussing water in the Qur'an and scientific studies. The results indicate that the Qur'an describes water as the origin of life, a source of divine mercy, and a means of sustaining ecological balance. Meanwhile, modern science explains water as a chemical compound essential for biological processes, environmental stability, and the hydrological cycle. The findings reveal a harmony between Qur'anic explanations and scientific discoveries regarding the role of water in sustaining life. The study concludes that the Qur'an provides theological and spiritual foundations concerning water, while science offers empirical explanations of its characteristics and functions. The integration of these perspectives contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of water as a source of life and a sign of Allah's greatness.

Abstract

The relationship between religion and science has become an important topic in the development of modern knowledge, especially in the field of cosmology. The Qur’an, as the holy book of Islam, contains various kauniyah verses that discuss the creation, order, and destruction of the universe. One of the theories in modern cosmology concerning the end of the universe is the Big Crunch theory, which explains the possibility of the universe collapsing again after a period of expansion. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Qur’anic verses and the Big Crunch theory, as well as to explain the integration of religion and science in modern cosmological studies. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were obtained from the Qur’an, tafsir books, scientific journals, and other relevant literature, then analyzed using content analysis and descriptive-critical methods. The results show that several Qur’anic verses, such as Surah Al-Anbiya verse 104 and Surah Az-Zumar verse 67, have a meaningful correlation with the concept of the folding and destruction of the universe in the Big Crunch theory. However, this relationship should be understood proportionally because the Qur’an is not a scientific book, but a source of spiritual and moral guidance. This study indicates that the dialogue between religion and science can develop a holistic, critical, and integrative understanding of the universe.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interpretations of classical and contemporary Qur'anic exegetes concerning verses related to the origin of the universe, identify the points of convergence and divergence between these interpretations and the Big Bang theory, and explain the implications of the dialogue between revelation and science. This research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. The data were collected from the Qur'an, classical and contemporary tafsir literature, books, and scholarly articles discussing modern cosmology. Data were analyzed using content analysis by comparing the interpretations of Qur'anic commentators with the concepts of the Big Bang theory. The findings indicate that Qur'an Chapters 21:30, 41:11, and 51:47 demonstrate conceptual correspondence with the Big Bang theory, particularly regarding the primordial unity of the universe, cosmic separation, the primordial gaseous phase, and the continuous expansion of the universe. Nevertheless, this relationship should be understood as complementary rather than literal, since the Qur'an serves as divine guidance while the Big Bang theory represents an empirical scientific explanation. This study highlights the importance of integrating revelation and scientific knowledge in advancing contemporary Islamic scholarship.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of 'Ajbu adz-Dzanab (the coccyx) in the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (Hadith), examine the formation and function of the coccyx from the perspective of modern embryology, and explain its relevance to the concept of human resurrection within the framework of the integration of Islam and science. This research employed a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were collected from the Hadith, Qur'anic verses, classical and contemporary Qur'anic commentaries, textbooks on embryology and anatomy, and scientific journal articles discussing the coccyx from both Islamic and scientific perspectives. Data collection was conducted through documentation techniques, while data were analyzed using content analysis by comparing the Hadith, scholarly interpretations, and contemporary scientific findings. The findings indicate that the Hadith describes the coccyx as a fundamental part of human creation and the basis for the reconstruction of the human body on the Day of Resurrection. Modern embryological studies reveal that human body formation begins with the primitive streak, which subsequently regresses toward the coccygeal region, while anatomical studies confirm that the coccyx performs essential biomechanical functions. The study concludes that there is a conceptual relationship between the Hadith, the Qur'an, and modern scientific findings, although each possesses a different epistemological scope. This integrative approach demonstrates that religion and science can complement one another in understanding the nature of human creation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the educational values embodied by Luqman in the Qur'an and examine their relevance to the dynamics of modern education through the integration of Qur'anic teachings and contemporary educational science. The research employed a qualitative library research method using an integrative approach. Primary data were obtained from the Qur'an, particularly Surah Luqman verses 12–19, supported by classical and contemporary Qur'anic commentaries, while secondary data were collected from books and scientific journals related to Islamic education and modern educational theories. Data was analysed using content analysis by identifying educational values, interpreting Qur'anic exegesis, and integrating the findings with contemporary educational concepts. The findings reveal that Luqman's educational model emphasizes the values of monotheism (tawhid), gratitude, moral awareness, worship, noble character, and social responsibility. These values are consistent with modern educational theories, including character education, positive psychology, social learning theory, constructivism, and educational neuroscience. The study concludes that Luqman's educational concept represents a holistic educational model that integrates spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social dimensions. Therefore, it can serve as a relevant paradigm for strengthening Islamic education in addressing the challenges of the digital era and contemporary educational transformation.

This research was conducted at STIT Al-Hilal Sigli. The resource persons consisted of the Chairperson, lecturers and students of STIT Al-Hilal Sigli. This research is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study indicate that the long-term lecturer competency development program includes syllabus development, evaluation of lecturer performance, lecturer development that is relevant to the subjects taught through. The development of lecturer competence, especially by sending lecturers to continue their education to the Masters and Doctoral levels in various universities. The implementation of lecturer competency development is not only focused on further education, but is also carried out through activities by inviting tutors from outside, holding scientific seminars and discussions, comparative studies and partnerships, which are carried out with several Islamic universities, such as IAIN on the Java island. The existence of knowledge that is built positively can add to the experience of lecturers, thereby increasing their competence as teaching staff and educators. Obstacles in developing lecturer competencies, limited student programs, there are still many lecturers who do not master foreign languages, especially Arabic and English.
