Abstract

Teacher performance is a critical element in improving the quality of education. This study analyzes the direct and indirect effects of transformational leadership and work motivation on teacher performance, with work discipline as a mediating variable. The research employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. The population consisted of all teachers in State Elementary Schools of Gapura District, Sumenep Regency, with a sample of 114 teachers selected through proportionate random sampling. Data were collected using closed questionnaires and analyzed using variance-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results show that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (β=0.424), work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (β=0.271), and work discipline significantly mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and teacher performance (β=0.211). However, work discipline does not mediate the relationship between work motivation and teacher performance. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of transformational leadership in improving teacher discipline and performance. Recommendations include the need for transformational leadership development programs for school principals and the strengthening of motivation systems based on recognition and teacher career development.

Abstract

This research aims to describe: (1) the integration of local wisdom in Indonesian learning planning at UPT SDN 21 Bangkala, Jeneponto Regency, (2) the implementation of local wisdom in the implementation of Indonesian language learning, and (3) the supporting and inhibiting factors in the integration of local wisdom in the learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The research subjects include classroom teachers and students, while data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data is analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that: (1) at the planning stage, teachers have integrated elements of local wisdom through the selection of materials, learning objectives, and the preparation of activities relevant to regional culture, although it is still not completely systematic. (2) In the implementation stage, teachers apply local wisdom through the use of text examples, local folklore, contextual learning media, and discussions that raise students' cultural experiences. Students also show enthusiasm and active involvement when material is associated with the local culture. (3) Supporting factors for the integration of local wisdom include the availability of cultural resources in the surrounding environment, school support, and the proximity of students to the cultural context. The inhibiting factors include the limitation of teaching materials that contain local wisdom, the lack of teacher training, and the lack of optimal use of culture-based learning media. This study concludes that the integration of local wisdom in Indonesian learning at UPT SDN 21 Bangkala has been implemented, but it still needs to be strengthened in the aspects of planning and providing teaching materials so that the implementation of learning based on local wisdom can take place more optimally.

Abstract

Islamic boarding School are Islamic educational institutions that play a strategic role in shaping the character, morality, and intellect of the Muslim generation. The development of the times and the demands of integration with the national education system have encouraged pesantren to develop a curriculum that is not only oriented towards mastery of religious knowledge, but also responsive to modern needs. This study analyzes the mu'adalah curriculum design at Islamic boarding School Annur Darunnajah 8, focusing on the aspects of planning, implementation, evaluation, and the impact of its application on improving the quality of pesantren education. The study uses a qualitative case study approach, with data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the mu'adalah curriculum is designed independently through the integration of the national curriculum, the salafiyah Islamic boarding School tradition, and the Tarbiyatul Mu'allimin al Islamiyah (TMI) system. The implementation of intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities is carried out in an integrated manner to achieve a balance between religious competence and general knowledge. Education based on classical Islamic texts is combined with the concepts of mu'adalah salafiyah and mu'allimin. Learning evaluation is carried out in stages by caregivers and teachers through an academic examination system and character assessment. The impact of implementing this curriculum includes flexibility in learning, strengthening Arabic and English language skills, shaping character and discipline, improving leadership and cooperation, developing skills through supporting activities, opportunities for further study abroad, and expanding national and international partnership networks. In addition, the character building of santri is strengthened through the internalization of the concept of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” The study concludes that the mu'adalah curriculum design in this Islamic boarding school is effective in improving the quality of education and producing graduates who are adaptive to the times.

Abstract

The Guidance and Counseling (BK) profession is developing in line with the complexity of the needs of students and the demands of the professionalism of counselors. This study explores the ontology of the BK profession systematically, focusing on the concept, role, and professional identity of counselors. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on PRISMA, with an analysis of 7 selected scientific articles. The results show that counselors' professional identities are a dynamic construct formed through accredited education, practical experience, regulation, collective advocacy, cultural context, spiritual values, and social orientation. The role of a counselor is multidimensional, encompassing individual practice, leadership, advocacy, and social engagement, while the concept of a counselor encompasses professional knowledge, skills, and values. The ontology of the BK profession emphasizes that the reality of counselors is progressive, subjective, and contextual. Strengthening professional identity is the foundation of competence, ethics, and sustainability of BK services.

Abstract

Inclusive education requires teachers to design learning activities that meet the needs of students with special needs. The One Teacher One Innovation Program at SLB Dharma Wanita Kebonsari and SLB Putra Idhata in Madiun Regency was implemented to improve teacher competencies while producing contextual learning innovations. This study evaluated the program using the CIPPO model with a qualitative multi–case study approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that the program aligns with the need to enhance teacher competencies and is supported by adequate learning facilities and school leadership. Implementation took place systematically through planning, execution, and continuous supervision. The resulting learning innovations succeeded in increasing student interest and engagement. In addition, the outcomes of the study indicate increased self-confidence and professional appreciation among teachers. Another significant impact was observed in graduates with special needs who were involved in the innovation products. They demonstrated real improvements in skills such as self-care, literacy, communication, and vocational abilities, making them better prepared for everyday life after graduation and able to apply these skills independently outside of school. These findings affirm that the program not only improves the quality of learning but also provides long-term benefits for the development of competencies among students with special needs.

Abstract

The transformation of higher education in Indonesia through the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy requires universities to strengthen curriculum flexibility, experiential learning, and institutional readiness. However, the alignment between policy design and real implementation varies across institutions, particularly in regional universities. This study aims to analyze the consistency between MBKM policy documents and implementation practices at Universitas Siliwangi, evaluate the effectiveness of its programs in enhancing student competencies, and identify the structural and operational challenges influencing program outcomes. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with supervising lecturers, MBKM coordinators, and student participants, supported by institutional documents such as curricula, guidelines, decrees, and activity reports. The findings show that Universitas Siliwangi has established policy frameworks aligned with national MBKM principles, reflected in curriculum integration, recognition of off-campus learning, and structured administrative support for programs such as MSIB, PMM, Teaching Campus, and community-based projects. Students participating in MBKM reported significant improvements in communication, independence, problem-solving, and workplace readiness. However, several challenges persist, including uneven curriculum harmonization, limited partner availability in certain study programs, varying levels of student readiness, and the need for a more adaptive academic information system. Overall, the study concludes that MBKM implementation at Universitas Siliwangi is progressing well, yet requires strengthened governance, improved cross-unit coordination, and expanded partnerships to achieve optimal and sustainable transformation in higher education.

Abstract

Final year students often experience academic stress, pressure from family, and increased anxiety when facing the demands of preparing a thesis. This study aims to understand the dynamics of academic anxiety experienced by final year students who have not yet started preparing their thesis, especially when facing social questions about their academic progress. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design for one subject from the class of 2020 who experienced difficulties in starting a thesis due to academic pressure, family expectations, and negative experiences from others. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis related to the subject's academic behavior. Data analysis was carried out with a thematic approach based on four sources of self-efficacy, according to Bandura. The results showed that the subjects' low self-efficacy was related to a lack of experience of academic success, negative experiences from family members who did not complete their studies, a lack of motivational verbal support, as well as physiological and emotional conditions characterized by excessive anxiety. Social questions like "when to graduate?" serve as anxiety triggers that reinforce patterns of academic avoidance. This study concludes that obstacles in starting a thesis are not only related to time management, but are also influenced by the interaction between psychological factors, family environment, and socio-cultural context. These findings are expected to be the basis for guidance and counseling services in providing interventions to improve the self-efficacy of final year students.

Abstract

This study explores the views of Islamic Religious Education on religious moderation and describes the understanding of religious moderation by three Islamic Religious Education teachers at an Islamic school in Indonesia in August 2025. Religious moderation is seen as an important approach to dealing with multicultural social dynamics. The method used is qualitative with snowball sampling technique for informant selection. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of classes and relevant school activities. The findings show that teachers interpret religious moderation as a principle of balance between commitment to faith and tolerance, as well as social behavior that respects diversity. The implementation of religious moderation in learning practices shows a variety of strategies, such as contextual discussions, case studies of tolerance, and the integration of moderate values into teaching materials. This article proposes recommendations to strengthen the Islamic Religious Education curriculum that favors the formation of moderate attitudes, as well as the development of professional training for teachers. The implications of this research are relevant for Islamic education policymakers and curriculum practitioners.

Abstract

Children with cancer not only face physical challenges due to their illness and lengthy treatment process, but also experience psychological stress that can reduce their motivation to recover. This condition requires psychosocial support services that can support children's emotional well-being and improve their zest for life. This study aims to describe the application of group counseling using animated films and analyze its contribution to motivating the recovery of children with cancer at the Rumah Singgah Sehat Ceria Foundation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of children with cancer who participated in group counseling services, foundation assistants, and counselors. Data collection techniques included participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and their validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the application of animation-based group counseling was able to increase children's involvement in group activities, encourage emotional openness, and strengthen social interaction and support among group members. Animation effectively served as a stimulus that helped children express their feelings and internalize positive values such as hope, courage, and optimism. In addition, there was an increase in healing motivation, as demonstrated by a more optimistic attitude, acceptance of the disease, and a greater willingness to undergo treatment. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that group counseling using animated films is an effective and relevant approach to increase healing motivation and the psychological well-being of children with cancer. This approach is recommended for development in psychosocial services at shelters and institutions that support children with cancer.
