Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic Guidance and Counseling in addressing adolescent problems in secondary schools, focusing on the role of guidance and counseling (BK) teachers in fostering students’ Islamic character. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The subjects consisted of BK teachers, school principals, and students at MA Muhammadiyah Salaka, Takalar Regency. The findings reveal that the Islamic guidance and counseling program is implemented through two main forms: Islamic guidance, emphasizing religious activities such as Qur’an learning and congregational prayers, and Islamic counseling, conducted in both group and individual settings. The program positively contributes to improving students’ moral awareness, discipline, and sense of responsibility. However, several challenges remain, including limited counseling facilities, the lack of professional counselors, and negative perceptions of BK services among students. The study concludes that the success of Islamic guidance and counseling depends largely on teachers’ exemplary conduct, school support, and parental involvement in character development. Therefore, it is recommended that schools enhance professional training for BK teachers, improve counseling facilities, and strengthen collaboration among schools, parents, and communities to create a conducive educational environment for nurturing students’ Islamic values and moral integrity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in fostering students’ noble character (akhlakul karimah) in secondary schools in Takalar Regency. The research focuses on identifying teaching strategies, forms of exemplary conduct, and challenges faced by teachers in developing students’ moral character. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and open-ended questionnaires as data collection techniques. The research subjects consisted of PAI teachers, school principals, and several students selected purposively. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that PAI teachers play a crucial role as educators, moral mentors, and role models for students. Core Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and politeness are instilled through habituation, exemplary behavior, and contextual learning. The supportive school environment and parental involvement further reinforce students’ moral formation. However, teachers also face challenges such as the negative influence of digital media, limited time for moral instruction, and insufficient coordination between schools and families. The study concludes that the success of moral education depends significantly on teachers’ exemplary conduct and the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders. It is recommended that PAI teachers continue to develop adaptive, example-based teaching methods, while schools and parents strengthen cooperation to create a conducive educational environment for nurturing students’ Islamic character and moral integrity.

Abstract

Ecological awareness has become an urgent necessity amid increasing environmental degradation that directly affects human quality of life. In the Islamic perspective, environmental preservation is not merely a social practice but an integral part of the education of iman (faith), Islam (practice), and ihsan (excellence), which guide humans to fulfill their responsibility as stewards (khalifah) on Earth. This study aims to examine the theological and ethical foundations within Islamic teachings that position environmental responsibility as a fundamental dimension of religious life, as well as to formulate the conceptual relationship between these three pillars and ecological behavior. Using a library research method, this study collects and analyzes various literature sources, including the Qur’an, hadith, Islamic scholarly works, and relevant scientific studies. The findings reveal that iman serves as a spiritual force that nurtures human awareness of the importance of safeguarding Allah’s creation; Islam, through its legal and ethical system, provides practical guidance for maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability; while ihsan encourages individuals to act virtuously and sincerely toward the environment. Together, these values form a strong moral and religious foundation for building ecological awareness. This study concludes that environmental preservation is a comprehensive expression of religious devotion, and that Islamic education holds a strategic role in fostering environmental concern rooted not only in knowledge but also in spirituality and character. Integrating the values of iman, Islam, and ihsan within educational frameworks offers a conceptual solution for developing more holistic and sustainable ecological awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the contextual Islamic-based learning method in shaping students’ character and competence toward Indonesia’s golden generation that is morally upright and highly competitive. The background of this research lies in the importance of integrating local Islamic cultural values, particularly Sintuwu Maroso, into the educational process so that students excel not only academically but also spiritually and morally. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method using field research involving 15 teachers and 60 students of MA Al-Ikhlas Poso as respondents. Data were collected through observation and questionnaires, and analyzed using percentage techniques to measure the level of effectiveness. The results revealed that the contextual Islamic-based learning method was highly effective in shaping students’ character and competence, with positive response percentages of 183.33% from teachers and 100% from students. The implementation of Sintuwu Maroso values—such as mutual respect, cooperation, tolerance, and compassion—proved to significantly influence students’ Islamic behavior and learning engagement. Therefore, this method can serve as a strategic approach to developing a golden generation that embodies strong Islamic values, ethical conduct, and competitiveness in facing global challenges.

Abstract

Infancy is a golden as well as critical period in human life that significantly determines physical, intellectual, social, emotional, moral, and religious development. This developmental process begins during the prenatal period and progresses rapidly within the first two years of life, marked by the maturation of the nervous system, brain, and essential bodily functions. At this stage, infants are highly responsive to environmental stimulation, particularly parental interaction, caregiving patterns, and role modeling as the first form of education. From an Islamic educational perspective, infancy serves as a crucial foundation for instilling values of faith, morality, and spirituality through habituation, a religious atmosphere, and exemplary behavior. Early Islamic education is not limited to cognitive development but also emphasizes affective and psychomotor dimensions to shape a child’s character holistically. This study employs a literature review method with a descriptive-analytical approach to relevant scholarly sources on infant development and Islamic education. The findings indicate that optimal infant development requires an integrated approach encompassing physical, intellectual, socio-emotional, moral, and religious aspects. Therefore, Islamic education during infancy plays a strategic role in forming a strong foundation for a child’s personality, moral character, and spiritual growth, preparing them for subsequent stages of development.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of the quantitative approach in explaining the diversity of ways in which individuals experience and understand guidance and counseling practices in the context of education management. The complexity of the experiences of counselors, practitioners, and service participants demands a methodological approach that is able to capture variations in meaning systematically. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively explain phenomenography as a qualitative research approach and analyze the theoretical foundations, methodological principles, data collection procedures, analysis techniques, and reliability criteria relevant to guidance and counseling research. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature review by critically analyzing the main scientific works on phenomenography and examples of their application in guidance and counseling research. The results of the study show that phenomenography is effective in identifying qualitative variations in the way individuals understand counseling phenomena through the development of hierarchically interconnected description categories, so as to be able to reveal the structure of the collective meaning of a phenomenon. The conclusion of this study confirms that the phenomenographic approach has a significant methodological contribution in enriching research and practice of guidance and counseling, particularly in supporting theory development, service quality improvement, and decision-making based on a deep understanding of human experience in education management.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed teaching methods and learning media in schools. SMP Global Talent Islamic School Palembang implements a research-based learning (RBL) model that positions students as active researchers supported by digital tools in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAIBP). This study examines how digital-based RBL is planned, implemented, and evaluated, and explores its role in fostering students’ active and critical learning skills. This research uses a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Validity was ensured through prolonged engagement and credibility checks. Findings indicate that instructional planning is based on students’ needs, teachers’ competencies, curriculum alignment, learning instruments, and institutional support. The process integrates Islamic values, teacher professionalism, parental involvement, and responsible use of digital technology. RBL implementation includes three stages: exposure, experience, and capstone. Exposure fosters awareness and helps students define research topics. Experience is the core stage, where students conduct simple research under teacher guidance using digital tools. Capstone involves preparing and presenting digital scientific products. Evaluation covers process and outcome assessment through rubrics measuring engagement, content mastery, research quality, and learning effectiveness. Overall, digital-based RBL promotes active and critical learning aligned with 21st-century curriculum demands.
