Jurnal Pendidik Indonesia (JPI) adalah jurnal ilmiah yang mempublikasikan karya penelitian dan artikel ilmiah terkait dengan bidang pendidikan. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan wadah bagi para akademisi, peneliti, praktisi, dan pemerhati pendidikan untuk berbagi pengetahuan, pengalaman, serta hasil penelitian terkini. Fokus utama dari Jurnal Pendidik Indonesia mencakup, tetapi tidak terbatas pada, berbagai aspek pendidikan, termasuk: Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah: Meliputi penelitian dan artikel tentang kurikulum, metode mengajar, evaluasi pembelajaran, pendekatan inovatif dalam pembelajaran, pendidikan karakter, pengembangan kepribadian siswa, dan isu-isu terkini dalam pendidikan dasar dan menengah. Pendidikan Tinggi: Membahas berbagai topik terkait pendidikan tinggi, seperti kebijakan pendidikan tinggi, manajemen perguruan tinggi, pengajaran dan pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi, penilaian kualitas pendidikan tinggi, pendidikan vokasi, dan inovasi dalam pendidikan tinggi. Pendidikan Inklusif: Menyajikan penelitian dan artikel tentang pendidikan inklusif, pendidikan bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus, pendidikan inklusif di sekolah umum, dan strategi pendidikan untuk memastikan kesetaraan kesempatan bagi semua siswa. Teknologi Pendidikan: Meliputi penelitian tentang pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran, penggunaan media pembelajaran, e-learning, blended learning, pengembangan aplikasi dan platform pendidikan, serta analisis dampak teknologi dalam proses pendidikan. Pengembangan Profesi Guru: Menyajikan penelitian dan artikel terkait dengan pengembangan profesionalisme guru, pelatihan dan pengembangan kompetensi guru, penilaian kinerja guru, dan isu-isu terkini dalam pengembangan profesi guru. Kebijakan Pendidikan: Membahas kebijakan pendidikan, evaluasi kebijakan, analisis dampak kebijakan pendidikan, serta isu-isu kebijakan pendidikan di tingkat nasional dan lokal. Jurnal Pendidik Indonesia mengundang kontribusi artikel ilmiah berbasis penelitian empiris, tinjauan literatur, artikel konseptual, dan ulasan buku yang relevan dengan fokus dan lingkup di atas. Semua artikel yang dikirimkan akan melalui proses review oleh para pakar dalam bidang pendidikan guna memastikan kualitas dan keakuratan konten yang dipublikasikan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the cooperative learning model of the Teams Games Tournament type assisted by the Quizizz application on students' mathematical connection abilities. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. The research sample was selected using the cluster random sampling technique, consisting of one experimental class taught using the Teams Games Tournament model assisted by Quizizz and one control class taught using conventional learning methods. After the learning process, both classes took the same posttest to measure their mathematical connection abilities. Data were collected through a mathematical connection ability test and observation sheets assessing teacher and student activities. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square normality test, F-homogeneity test, and t-test for hypothesis testing. The results showed that students in the experimental class achieved an average posttest score of 71.55, while students in the control class obtained an average of 35.07. The average percentage of teacher and student activity in the experimental class was 89.28% and 86.42%, respectively, while in the control class, it was 84.37% and 85.62%. The inferential statistical analysis showed that t-calculated > t-table (2.708 > 2.433), indicating that the cooperative learning model of the Teams Games Tournament type assisted by Quizizz has a significant effect on improving students' mathematical connection abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning process and enhance students' mathematical problem-solving skills through the implementation of a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with local cultural values. The research employed a classroom action research design consisting of two cycles conducted during the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The subjects were 35 students, and data were collected through observation sheets and problem-solving tests. The learning tools used included a teaching module. The results showed continuous improvement in classroom activities, such as students' ability to understand problems presented in the worksheets, increased collaboration among group members, greater student engagement in discussions, and attentiveness to instructions and learning tasks. The average problem-solving test scores improved from an initial 21.52 to 77.26 in the first cycle and 86.76 in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the implementation of the PBL model with local cultural content effectively improves both the learning process and students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is a critical competency that students must possess to understand and solve mathematical problems, particularly in quadratic functions. This study aims to describe students’ mathematical representation abilities based on their level of self-efficacy. A descriptive qualitative approach was used with six tenth-grade students selected based on their self-efficacy questionnaire results, consisting of two students each from high, medium, and low self-efficacy categories. The research instruments included a self-efficacy questionnaire, a mathematical representation test, and a semi-structured interview guide. The results revealed that students with high self-efficacy were able to fulfill all indicators of mathematical representation—symbolic, verbal, and visual—comprehensively and accurately. Students with medium self-efficacy could meet the three indicators, but with some errors in symbolic representation. In contrast, students with low self-efficacy mostly showed verbal representation ability and encountered difficulties in understanding and converting between visual and symbolic forms. These findings suggest a positive correlation between students’ self-efficacy levels and the quality and completeness of their mathematical representations. Thus, efforts to enhance students' self-efficacy should be considered an essential part of mathematics instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the postmodern aspects in the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu by J.S. Khairen based on Jean-François Lyotard's theory of postmodernism. As a cultural product, literature constantly evolves in response to changes in time and social reality. In this context, a new paradigm emerged to replace modernism—postmodernism—which has influenced the form, content, and modes of literary expression. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data sourced from the novel's text that represents postmodern elements such as eclecticism, parody, pastiche, irony, and camp. The findings reveal that the novel reflects the characteristics of postmodern society through the actions and attitudes of its characters in facing the realities of their time. Key findings include the psychological exploration of the main characters—Zenna and Asyrul—as well as creative artistic expressions that do not fully represent reality objectively. Eclecticism is evident in the integration of foreign cultures into local culture; parody appears through emotionally dramatized narratives; pastiche is present in the imitation of styles and themes from past texts, such as depictions of a humble family struggling against poverty and ignorance; while irony highlights the contrast between the characters' expectations and the reality they must face. Thus, this novel presents a strong representation of complex and reflective postmodern values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical connection ability of first-semester students at the beginning of the trigonometry course. The research subjects were first-semester students of the Mathematics Education Study Program in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used was descriptive with a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data. The research procedure consisted of three stages: (1) development of research instruments, (2) administration of a mathematical connection ability test, and (3) analysis of student responses. The instrument used was a trigonometry test that included indicators of mathematical connection ability. The results show that at the beginning of the course, students' mathematical connection abilities were still relatively low. The percentage of students in the very good category was only 0.83%, good category 10%, fair category 40.83%, poor category 45.84%, and very poor category 2.5%. Further analysis revealed that students in the high category were able to connect mathematical concepts and apply them to real-world problems but struggled to relate different mathematical representations. Meanwhile, students in the low category had difficulties in all aspects of mathematical connections, including linking concepts, connecting representations, and applying mathematics to real-life situations.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the essential competencies that vocational high school (SMK) students must possess to be prepared for the workforce. However, students' success in solving mathematical problems can be influenced by their Adversity Quotient (AQ), which reflects their resilience and response to challenges. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving ability of vocational high school students in solving HOTS-oriented contextual problems in terms of their AQ. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with nine Grade 10 Accounting students categorized into three groups based on AQ levels: Climber, Camper, and Quitter. Data collection techniques included AQ questionnaires, written tests, and interviews based on Krulick and Rudnick’s problem-solving indicators. The results show that all Climber students were able to solve all three HOTS-oriented contextual problems and fulfilled all problem-solving stages. Camper students completed the first and second problems by fulfilling all stages, but failed to reach the final stage, reflect and extend, on the third problem. Meanwhile, Quitter students were unable to solve any of the three problems and failed to meet any problem-solving indicators. These findings indicate that the higher the students’ AQ, the better their ability to solve HOTS-oriented contextual problems.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are essential 21st-century competencies that need to be developed from an early age. This study aims to analyze the role of Deep Learning technology in enhancing students' problem-solving skills through a qualitative approach. The research methods employed include observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving students who engaged in Deep Learning-based learning systems. The findings indicate that the implementation of this technology positively contributes to students’ ability to identify problems, formulate solution strategies, and think flexibly compared to conventional methods. Furthermore, the Deep Learning system provides real-time feedback, adapts task difficulty to students' individual abilities, and increases their learning motivation. However, the implementation of this technology also faces challenges such as infrastructure limitations, teachers' readiness, and students' adaptation to AI-based systems. Therefore, this study recommends integrating AI technologies into the curriculum, providing teacher training, and developing more user-friendly systems. These findings contribute to the advancement of technology-based education and serve as a foundation for further research on optimizing AI in learning.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is an approach that connects mathematical concepts with elements of local culture. In this context, education and culture are closely interrelated in shaping students’ understanding of mathematics. This study aims to explore mathematical concepts embedded in Ratoh Jaroe Dance, a traditional dance from Aceh, and its potential to support mathematics learning in schools. A qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was employed, involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data were analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the activities in Ratoh Jaroe Dance reflect ethnomathematical practices such as counting, measuring, pattern design, and spatial positioning. Identified mathematical concepts include geometry, set theory, and transformation. The implementation of these findings in extracurricular activities at SMAN 28 Tangerang Regency had a positive impact by enhancing students’ ability to relate mathematics to local culture and encouraging creative thinking.

Abstract

Mathematical critical thinking disposition refers to students’ tendency to think logically, systematically, and deeply in evaluating statements or solving mathematical problems. On the other hand, students’ success in solving mathematical problems can be influenced by mathematical anxiety, which reflects the level of tension and emotional reactions to challenging mathematics learning situations. This study aims to describe students’ mathematical critical thinking disposition in solving problems related to relations and functions, viewed from the level of their mathematical anxiety. This descriptive qualitative research was conducted at SMA Negeri 7 Tanjungpinang. The research subjects consisted of two students from grade XI for each category of high, moderate, and low mathematical anxiety. The instruments used included a mathematical anxiety questionnaire, a mathematical critical thinking disposition test, and an interview guide. The results showed that students with high mathematical anxiety tended to have difficulty fulfilling the indicators of mathematical critical thinking disposition. The higher the level of mathematical anxiety, the lower the students’ ability in mathematical critical thinking. Meanwhile, students with moderate and low levels of mathematical anxiety demonstrated better and relatively similar dispositions of mathematical critical thinking. These findings indicate that the level of mathematical anxiety affects students’ mathematical critical thinking disposition.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual mathematical literacy instrument based on local wisdom that is valid, reliable, and practical for junior high school students. The development of this instrument was motivated by the limited availability of assessment tools capable of measuring students’ mathematical literacy comprehensively and in alignment with their cultural contexts. The research employed the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study involved 30 students from a junior high school in Tangerang Regency. Data were collected through written tests, expert validation sheets, classroom observations, and practicality questionnaires. The results of expert validation showed an average score of 4.65, indicating that the instrument is highly valid. Field trials revealed a reliability coefficient of α = 0.89, suggesting high internal consistency. Furthermore, the practicality and acceptability levels reached 88.7% and 90.3%, respectively, both categorized as very good. These findings indicate that the developed contextual mathematical literacy instrument based on local wisdom is feasible for use as an authentic assessment tool to evaluate students’ mathematical literacy skills in a meaningful and culturally relevant manner.
