Abstract

The development of digital technology in the era of learning 5.0 requires interactive and contextual Arabic teaching materials. However, Istima' and Kalām learning in schools still face obstacles in the form of low student motivation and limited digital media. This condition shows the need for developing digital teaching materials that can facilitate enjoyable and sustainable listening and speaking exercises. This study aims to create digital Arabic teaching materials on Istima' and Kalām through flipbook media at MI Nurul Yakin. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The study results show that in the define stage, learning was still dominated by conventional methods; in the design stage, an interactive flipbook contained basic competencies, vocabulary, exercises, and evaluations. While in the development stage, the product was validated by experts with positive results. The dissemination stage was carried out through socialization and limited trials at MI Nurul Yakin, which showed positive responses from teachers and students regarding the appearance, accessibility, and clarity of the material. This research is expected to be an innovative step in improving istima' and kalām skills through digital-based Arabic language learning relevant to the modern era's needs. Although still limited in scale and time, the results show the potential for broader application. In the future, this teaching material can be used in teacher training and project-based learning to sustainably strengthen digital literacy in madrasas.

Abstract

The challenges of 21st century education require students to have critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills, which are classified as high-level thinking skills. However, Arabic language learning at As-Salam Qur'an Junior High School in Bogor is still dominated by memorization methods and basic knowledge and skills. This is the background of the low level of thinking skills of students. Therefore, an innovative learning model is needed to improve students' high-level thinking skills, one of which is the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model. The purpose of this study is to examine the application of the RADEC model in Arabic language learning and measure its effectiveness in improving students' high-level thinking skills. In addition, this study also aims to compare learning outcomes between classes that use the RADEC model and classes that use the regular learning model. The basic concept of this research is based on the theory of social constructivism which emphasizes the importance of active and collaborative learning. The RADEC model consists of five stages: reading to gain initial understanding, answering questions based on high thinking skills, discussing answers in groups, explaining the results of the discussion in front of the class, and creating new products or solutions based on their understanding. Each stage is designed to develop HOTS skills according to Bloom's revised taxonomic theory, i.e. student analysis, evaluation, and creation. The research method used was a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. Class VIII C as an experimental class and class VIII D as a control class. Data is collected through observation and tests. Data analysis was carried out with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 29. The results of the study show that the Read stage in the RADEC model in Arabic learning needs to be prepared by the teacher and the RADEC model will be easier to accept if students complete the previous material. The RADEC learning model and the regular learning model are effective in improving students' high-level thinking skills. However, the average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class, with the N-Gain test result of 0.5057 for the experimental class and 0.03834 for the control class. Statistical tests showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the two classes. The conclusion of this study is that the RADEC model can be used as an alternative innovative learning model to improve students' HOTS in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

Kitābah (Arabic writing) instruction plays a crucial role in developing students' productive language skills; however, its implementation at the elementary level remains constrained by limited instructional strategies and low student proficiency. Previous studies have mainly focused on learning media, online instruction, or error analysis, leaving a gap in context-based kitābah strategies in primary education. This study aims to analyze the implementation of kitābah learning strategies and their contribution to improving students' writing skills. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved an Arabic teacher and fourth-grade students at SD Bani Daud Al-Islami Petir. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive model. The findings indicate that effective kitābah instruction involves integrating communicative approaches, guided practice, visual media, and linking writing with reading (qirā’ah) and speaking (muḥādathah). These strategies enhance student engagement, support grammatical understanding, and improve sentence construction. Additionally, structured learning stages and the use of student worksheets (LKPD) contribute to consistent skill development. This study highlights the importance of student-centered, structured instructional design for improving Arabic writing skills. Future studies are recommended to examine these strategies using quantitative or mixed-method approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the comprehensive meaning and symbolism of the qasidah "Ya Badrotim" in Maulid Ad-Diba' by Shaykh Abdurrahman Ad-Diba'i. It employs Michael Riffaterre's semiotic theory as an analytical framework, particularly focusing on the concepts of matrix, model, and variants to uncover deeper layers of meaning. This research is motivated by the limited scholarly attention given to specific qasidahs within Maulid Ad-Diba'i, and thus seeks to fill this gap. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotic approach, the study reveals that the meaning embedded in the qasidah "Ya Badrotim" extends beyond literal description and reflects a complex semiotic structure. The analysis shows that the primary matrix represents the concept of the perfection of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which is articulated through various symbolic models and variants, such as light, the full moon, and divine guidance. Additionally, the hypogram analysis demonstrates an intertextual relationship between this qasidah and earlier qasidahs within Maulid Ad-Diba'i. These findings confirm that Riffaterre's semiotic approach is effective in uncovering deeper meanings in qasidah texts. This study enriches Arabic literary semiotics and offers a deeper understanding of meaning in religious qasidah literature.

Abstract

Corpus linguistics has developed rapidly in recent years; however, its application in Arabic language studies in Indonesia remains limited, particularly in examining the semantic distinctions of key educational terms. This study aims to investigate the distribution, collocational patterns, and semantic functions of three central terms تعليم (taʿlīm), تدريس (tadrīs), and تربية (tarbiyah) in a modern Arabic corpus, as well as their implications for conceptual meaning and language pedagogy. The novelty of this study lies in integrating corpus-based analysis of authentic linguistic data with semantic interpretation within a pedagogical framework. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a corpus-based discourse analysis design, using data derived from the arTenTen24 corpus through Sketch Engine. The analysis applies frequency, concordance, and collocation techniques to identify lexical distributions and relationships. The findings reveal that تعليم is the most dominant term, primarily associated with educational systems and policy contexts; تدريس relates to instructional practices in classroom settings; while تربية encompasses broader dimensions, including values, character formation, and institutional contexts. These distinctions indicate systematic differences in semantic functions that reflect the conceptual structure of modern Arabic educational discourse. Theoretically, this study contributes to corpus-based lexical-semantic research in Arabic, while pedagogically, it supports data-driven learning to improve learners’ accuracy in using educational terminology.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of Arabic language teaching materials that integrate text, images, and audio in learning. Although pictorial media has been used, the integration of picture stories with audio features in one learning design is still limited. This study aims to develop picture story-based Arabic language teaching materials and test their effectiveness in improving students' istima' and kalam skills. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg and Gall model. The subjects of the study were grade VIII students of MTs Muhammadiyah 6 Ponorogo. Data collection techniques included tests, questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation, which were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. The results showed that the developed product consisted of picture story text, vocabulary, qawaid, exercises, and QR Code containing audio, with a coverage of four chapters for two semesters. The validation results showed that the teaching materials were very valid according to material experts (81.6%) and media experts (87.24%), and received very good student responses (89%). The results of the effectiveness test showed a significant increase with an N-Gain value of 0.73 (high category) and a Sig. 0.000 < 0.05. This research contributes to the development of Arabic language teaching materials that integrate illustrated stories with QR Code-based audio features as an interactive and contextual learning medium to improve students' istima' and kalam skills.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the planning, implementation, and supporting and inhibiting factors of the Arabic Language Takhassus Program at As-Sakinah Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo. This research employs a qualitative, descriptive method, using observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of curriculum documents. The findings reveal that the Takhassus Program is systematically designed through clearly defined objectives, tiered student grouping, and intensive evening learning schedules, with a strong emphasis on grammatical mastery and the study of classical Islamic texts (kitāb kuning). In its implementation, classroom instruction integrates traditional methods such as sorogan and bandongan with eclectic and communicative approaches. These are further reinforced through extracurricular language activities, including muḥāḍarah (public speaking), muḥādathah (conversation practice), and language olympiads. The program’s effectiveness is supported by strong institutional commitment, qualified instructors, and adequate facilities. However, several challenges persist, including inconsistent use of Arabic outside the classroom, heterogeneous student proficiency levels, the absence of standardized syllabi and lesson plans, and the suboptimal integration of educational technology. The study recommends strengthening curriculum design, standardizing instructional tools, and integrating educational technology to more comprehensively enhance the effectiveness and diversity of Takhassus-based Arabic learning models in Indonesia.
