Abstract

The traditional drying process of gambier using direct sunlight requires up to 4 days, or smoking methods to reduce the moisture content from 45–50% to 18–20%. However, during the rainy season, this process may take up to 7 days and often results in poor-quality gambier due to mold growth. A controlled-temperature drying process is expected to produce evenly dried gambier, shorten drying time, and achieve a moisture content of less than 14%, with a yellowish-brown color meeting the SNI 01-3391-2000 standard. A dual-heater drying oven with temperature control ensures even heat distribution across all racks. The test results showed that at a temperature of 100–115 °C, with 10 kg per rack for five racks over 4 hours, the moisture content could be reduced to below 14%, with a drying rate of 0.94 gr/s and energy consumption of 0.5 kWh. At 110 °C for 4 hours, the oven produced evenly dried gambier, met SNI standards and exhibited a yellowish-brown color. The stove is also effective during the rainy season or nighttime, supporting partners in improving the quality of gambier drying and increasing income.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted at Madrasah Diniyah Thoyyibah Islamiyah, Pulau Lancang Besar, with the aim of encouraging community participation in improving the physical quality of the madrasah environment and establishing the madrasah as an incubator for local socio-economic development. This initiative represents the university's contribution to the Community Action Plan (CAP) program initiated by the Jakarta Provincial Government in 2021 on Pulau Lancang Besar. The previously implemented CAP program primarily focused on the physical aspects of environmental improvement for restructuring slum settlements, leaving socio-economic issues as a lower priority. Through this community service program, socio-economic aspects were integrated into environmental improvement efforts, with the madrasah serving as the primary driver. Participatory discussions were held with the community to design and implement programs aimed at enhancing the physical, social, and economic quality of the community, with the university acting as a partner in planning and implementation support. The program outcomes demonstrated improvements in the madrasah's physical environment, strengthened its role as a center for social and economic activities, and increased active community involvement, fostering a stronger sense of ownership and shared responsibility. The integration of physical improvements and socio-economic development has proven to contribute significantly to community development, particularly in areas with limited government support. This self-managed madrasah successfully served as an effective incubator model for social and economic transformation, although the economic impacts are not yet significantly evident.

Abstract

One of the areas in Madiun where the majority of the population has livestock is Banjarsari Village. Unfortunately, the large number of residents who have livestock has not adequately balanced with managing or processing animal waste. If managed and processed correctly, livestock waste has benefits and can produce economic value. One of the efforts to manage and process sound livestock waste is to utilize it as an energy source, such as biogas. Biogas produced from livestock waste can be used to meet the daily energy needs of the community. To produce good quality biogas, technology is needed to process and process it, namely a digester. Based on the results of livestock waste processing, the digester barrel's capacity is 150 - 200 litres. The capacity of the biogas bag is 500 litres. When complete, the biogas bag can produce gas for 60 to 120 minutes of cooking. This condition allows the community to produce energy independently by utilizing livestock waste for daily needs.

Abstract

MSMEs in Malang that are engaged in the food and beverage industry still carry out the process of chopping ingredients using simple equipment. Most MSMEs chop ingredients using a blender or manually using a knife. This condition clearly causes culinary production on a MSME scale not maximized. It is necessary to develop technology that can help MSMEs to improve the quality and quantity of their production. Based on the results of community service activities by developing automatic spice chopping technology for healthy drink businesses, MSMEs can produce much more varied products. This is because the role of technology makes the production process much faster and can be easy to innovate. Technology functions as an important element in the development of MSMEs, encouraging innovation, increasing operational efficiency, and expanding market access. Although challenges still exist in the form of limited resources and skills, targeted support from the government and educational institutions can empower MSMEs to utilize the potential of technology to the maximum. As the business landscape continues to evolve, the ability of MSMEs to adapt and innovate through technology will be very important for their sustainability and growth.

Abstract

Indonesia faces three nutritional problems: malnutrition, overnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. Education is also one of the main factors in dietary issues. This activity aims to increase knowledge about balanced nutrition in young women. This educational activity was carried out face-to-face using a lecture method, PowerPoint media, posters of the contents of my plate, and puzzle game content. This research showed that the average pretest score was 58, and the average post-test score was 76, increasing the score by 18 points. These results prove that students' knowledge regarding nutrition can improve with this activity. Still, it will not change their attitudes and behaviour significantly in a short time, so it is essential to carry out similar educational activities to continue to update and increase nutritional knowledge among teenagers.

Abstract

This PkM activity was intended to increase knowledge and skills in managing inorganic waste at partner locations and their surroundings. That problem can be overcome by providing education, understanding the importance of sorting waste from home to public places, for example, at school, providing insight into the value that this waste still has from an economic perspective and providing training in skills to make recycled products from the collected waste. The method for this activity begins with observation at the location, preparation, and implementation in two extensive sessions, namely providing theoretical material and practical material for making recycled products. Participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire to assess their activity. The expected output is a product resulting from recycling plastic wrap waste and showing appreciation to participants for the best-recycled products. Coming from the description of the situation review, the PkM team concluded that there were several problems faced by Mitra, namely: Mitra is a place that has the potential to produce large amounts of inorganic waste because of the enormous of students, and it is located in a very dense residential area, very close together. Also, with the Cengkareng Big Market, efforts need to be made to manage waste, especially inorganic waste, by recycling inorganic waste into value-added products.
