Abstract

This article examines how adaptive leadership practices enacted by Indonesian school principals contribute to improving education quality within the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka. Kurikulum Merdeka is a national curriculum reform that grants schools and teachers greater flexibility to design learning, emphasizes essential content, and promotes project-based learning to strengthen the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Anchored in adaptive leadership theory, the study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore principals’ lived experiences in navigating complex curricular changes, resource constraints, and heterogeneous learner needs. Data are conceptualized as in-depth narratives from principals, vice-principals, and senior teachers in basic education settings implementing Kurikulum Merdeka. Thematic analysis, informed by Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, generates an integrative model comprising four dimensions of adaptive principal leadership: diagnosing contextual and curricular challenges, orchestrating teacher learning, reconfiguring school structures and resources, and cultivating collaborative learning communities. These practices align with prior Indonesian evidence that principal leadership significantly shapes teacher quality, instructional practices, and school effectiveness. The article concludes with theoretical and practical implications for leadership preparation, district support, and policy design to strengthen adaptive capacity of school leaders under Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Abstract

The Indonesian language holds a strategic position in the Indonesian legal system as the state language and official language in the formation and enforcement of law. The use of inappropriate language in legislation and judicial practice has the potential to create multiple interpretations, legal uncertainty, and obstacles to access to justice for the public. This research aims to analyze the role of the Indonesian language in law enforcement in Indonesia and identify linguistic problems that affect the effectiveness of legal implementation. This research uses normative legal research methods with statutory and conceptual approaches, through library research on regulations, legal language guidelines, and relevant legal literature. The research results show that the Indonesian language not only functions as a legal communication tool, but also as an instrument determining the meaning of norms and legal certainty. However, inconsistencies in terminology and unclear formulations of legal language are still found in practice. Hence, strengthening the use of the Indonesian language is needed through standardization of legal terms, improvement of language competence of law enforcement officials, and preparation of clear and communicative legal products in order to realize just and effective law enforcement.

Abstract

Abstract

Social conflicts between mass organizations (Ormas) in Bali, particularly in Denpasar, frequently triggered collective violence between 2010 and 2017. Following interventions by the Denpasar Resort Police (Polresta Denpasar) starting in 2017, these incidents ceased, making the police’s efforts the focus of this research. This study examines collective violence between Ormas in Denpasar, the efforts of the Denpasar Resort Police in handling it, and the factors influencing the effectiveness of this conflict management. The research, conducted using a qualitative approach, revealed several findings, including that the root causes of collective violence were the militant attitudes of Ormas members and disputes over land. Handling that was not focused, tending to occur only at the time of the violent incidents, along with weak law enforcement, caused collective violence between Ormas to recur repeatedly. The existence of Ormas in Bali, exploited by political actors to gain votes or support, made it difficult for the police to break the cycle of violence. Comprehensive handling by the Denpasar Resort Police through criminal law enforcement efforts, non-penal measures, and the use of media succeeded in suppressing acts of collective violence by Ormas. The success of the handling by the Denpasar Resort Police cannot be separated from the leadership factors of the Bali Regional Police Chief, intervention in Ormas through government policies, the use of media, and community support. All these factors strengthened the handling efforts carried out by the Denpasar Resort Police.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the critical representation of figures, symbols, and power in political communication through a critical phenomenological approach combined with bibliometric analysis. It mapped research trends, key authors, dominant keywords, and citation networks that emerged in phenomenological studies of political communication during 2010–2025. Data were collected using Publish or Perish software and analyzed with Excel and VOSviewer to illustrate relationships among keywords, authors, and citations. The findings showed a significant increase in publications since 2021, with dominant themes including gender representation, populist figures, and the symbolism of power in digital media. The results also indicated that scholarly discourse in this field had become increasingly fragmented while simultaneously consolidating around certain clusters, particularly those related to communicative action, political narratives, and identity politics. The study concluded that combining bibliometric methods with critical phenomenology revealed the discursive landscape and representational biases in contemporary political communication. It further provided conceptual and methodological contributions to the development of political communication studies grounded in the critique of representation and symbolic experience.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in social commerce has intensified the need to understand how algorithmic personalization and advertising relevance shape consumer behavior. Drawing on engagement theory and digital marketing perspectives, this study examines the effects of AI-driven personalization and perceived advertising relevance on online purchase intention, with customer engagement positioned as a mediating construct. A quantitative survey was conducted among 304 active social commerce users (response rate: 98.7%), and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The measurement model demonstrates strong reliability and validity, while the structural model reveals substantial explanatory power (R² = 0.599 for customer engagement; R² = 0.748 for purchase intention). The results indicate that AI-driven personalization and advertising relevance significantly enhance customer engagement, which in turn strongly predicts online purchase intention. Mediation analysis confirms that engagement partially mediates these relationships, highlighting its central role in translating technological precision and perceptual congruence into behavioral intention. The findings extend existing literature by integrating AI-enabled marketing mechanisms within an engagement-driven framework, emphasizing that personalization effectiveness depends not only on algorithmic accuracy but also on its capacity to generate meaningful user involvement in social commerce environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of spatial and environmental policies in flood mitigation in Bekasi City and identify the main supporting and inhibiting factors. The city of Bekasi as part of the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area faces an increased risk of flooding due to urbanization, land conversion, and weak spatial control. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with stakeholders, including DLH, PUPR, BPBD, Bappeda, WALHI, and community representatives in flood-prone areas. Data analysis was carried out using NVivo software through open coding stages, thematic categorization, and frequency analysis to identify dominant issues based on Mazmanian and Sabatier policy implementation models. The results of the thematic analysis identified seven main themes, namely policies and regulations (85), institutional capacity (78), coordination and collaboration (82), resources and infrastructure (74), community participation (69), challenges and obstacles (62), and recommendations for improvement (88). The findings show that the main obstacles lie in weak regulatory enforcement, sub-optimal cross-sectoral coordination, and limited resources and technical capacity. This study concludes that effective flood mitigation requires strengthening collaborative governance, risk-based policy integration, and the development of green and blue infrastructure and integrated disaster information systems. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the study of public policy implementation and practical recommendations for strengthening urban resilience to flood risk.
