Purposive sampling was used to select 17 respondents. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) was used as the research instrument. The intervention was conducted three times a week. Results: Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed that before the intervention, the minimum stress score was 11, the maximum was 29, and the median was 16.00. After the intervention, the minimum score was 7, the maximum was 22, and the median was 11.00. The test yielded a Z value of -3.644 and a p-value of 0.000. Abstract

Background: A single parent is a family consisting of a single parent, either a father or a mother, as a result of divorce or death. Single parenthood can also occur when a child is born out of wedlock and their care becomes their sole responsibility. Independence in the soul of a single parent is very necessary to carry out dual roles in the domestic sector, namely being responsible for household chores such as cooking, washing dishes and clothes, cleaning the house, preparing food for the family, caring for, raising and educating their children and in the public sector, namely having economic duties to ensure that needs are met, namely by earning a living for their family and socially, namely socializing with the community. Purpose:  To knowing how the role of a single working parent relates to a child's independence. Method: This qualitative research involved 30 single mothers and their children. The informants were single mothers, with children aged 7-15 years old as the subjects. The study was conducted in Tuweley Village, RW 1-6, Tolitoli Regency, from January to March 2025. Results: Based on interviews, it was found that each mother has a different approach to parenting their children. These differences are influenced by their educational background, socioeconomic status, family support, and personal values. Nevertheless, there is a common thread in parenting: consistent efforts to instill religious values, independent living habits, and discipline in daily life. Support from extended family, such as biological parents, siblings, or close relatives, is also a crucial factor in helping single parents raise their children. Conclusion: The role of single parents significantly influences the development of children's independence. Mothers who fulfill the dual roles of breadwinner and caregiver still strive to provide time, attention, and guidance to their children. Keywords: Child independence; Role of parents; Single parents.

Abstract

Background: Scientific papers (STPs) are written presentations of case studies that discuss a problem in a specific scientific field using the principles applicable to the field. Obstacles in the process of writing scientific papers make students susceptible to stress, which impacts their sleep quality. Poor sleep quality can lead to students being unable to focus, becoming distracted, and increasing negative thoughts. Purpose: To determine the relationship between stress levels and sleep quality among final-year nursing students preparing STPs at Poltekkes Karya Husada Yogyakarta in 2025. Method: This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional study design. A sample of 96 students was drawn using simple random sampling. The research instruments used a stress level questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The results were analyzed using a gamma test. Results: 43 students (44.8%) experienced moderate stress and 30 students (31.3%) experienced mild stress. Sleep quality: 78 respondents (81.3%) reported poor sleep quality, while 18 respondents (18.8%) reported good sleep quality. The Gamma test yielded a p-value of 0.001 < 0.005, with a correlation coefficient of 0.441. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between stress levels and sleep quality in final-year nursing students. Keywords: Stress; Sleep Quality; Students.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease known as the "silent killer" because it often has no symptoms but can lead to serious complications such as stroke, heart failure, and kidney disease. The prevalence of hypertension in adolescents is increasing, and one contributing risk factor is smoking. Cigarettes contain harmful substances such as nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, which can damage the cardiovascular system and trigger increased blood pressure. Purpose: To determine the correlation between cigarette smokings and the incidence of hypertension in adolescents in Mojo Wetan Village at Sragen Regency. Method: A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlation and cross-sectional design. The population of this study was all male adolescents aged 15– 24 years who had a cigarette smoking in Mojo Wetan Village. The sample size was 39 respondents, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a cigarette smokings questionnaire and a calibrated needle sphygmomanometer. Data were analysed univariately and bivariately using Kendall's Tau test. Results: The majority of respondents had a moderate cigarette smoking (43.6%), and most were in the normal blood pressure category (59%). The Kendall's Tau test showed a significant association between cigarette smokings and the incidence of hypertension in adolescents (p-value = 0.002) with a correlation coefficient of 0.406. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between cigarette smokings and the incidence of hypertension in adolescents in Mojo Wetan Village. The higher the cigarette smoking, the greater the likelihood of adolescents experiencing pre-hypertension or hypertension. Keywords: Adolescents; Hypertension; Cigarette Smoking.

Abstract

Background: Floods are the most common natural disaster in the world, dominating with 163 incidents or 50.77% in 2023. Based on the Indonesian Disaster Index (IDI) data, 8.331 flood disasters occurred in Indonesia from 2014 to 2023. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) recorded 16 flood incidents in the Bandar Lampung area over the past 10 years. This disaster not only causes damage to infrastructure but also instills anxiety among students, which has the potential to affect their level of preparedness. Therefore, it is very important to understand the relationship between anxiety and the preparedness of adolescents. Purpose: To determine the psychological impact of flood exposure on adolescents. Method: A Descriptive Correlational research type with a Cross Sectional approach, employing a quantitative method design with a Descriptive Correlation design. The respondents in this study are students at Junior High School 27 Bandar Lampung with a population of 469 students. The total sample obtained using Proportionate Stratified random sampling technique is 216 respondents. Results: Out of 87 students with anxiety, there were 78 (89.7%) respondents who were not prepared and 9 (10.3%) respondents who were prepared to face floods. Meanwhile, out of 129 respondents without anxiety, there were 80 (62.0%) respondents who were not prepared and 49 (38.0%) respondents who were prepared to face flood disasters. The chi-square test results showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion: Adolescence, as a dynamic transitional phase, is a crucial period for developing awareness, resilience, and preparedness in the face of disasters such as floods. Findings indicate a significant relationship between anxiety and preparedness, with adolescents experiencing anxiety being five times more likely to be unprepared than those without anxiety. Abstract

Background: The number of divorces reached 29% of the number of marriages that occurred in 2023, a notable increase compared to 2010, which only reached 4-6%. Various reasons that can cause separation make it very important to have marital commitment. Purpose: To explored the role of family functioning in marital commitment with adult attachment style as a moderator in early adults. Method: A quantitative study with 208 respondents aged between 20 and 39 years, 48 married men and 160 married women. The Indonesian adapted version of the Investment Model Scale, General Functioning of the McMaster Family Assessment Device, and Attachment Style Questionnaire were used as instruments. Results: The results of this study found that family functioning has a role in contributing to marital commitment by 47%, and moderated regression analysis showed that only dismissing attachment style moderated the role of family functioning on marital commitment. Conclusion: This finding is likely because factors such as the presence of children, religious values, social stigma, and positive views on marriage problems play a more important role in influencing marital commitment than adult attachment style. Keywords: Adult Attachment Style; Early Adulthood; Family Functioning; Marital Commitment.
